Technological innovation is one of critical challenges for small and medium enterprises(SMEs) as well as larger firms. This study focuses on empirical test about the role of absorptive capacity on the relationship between technological collaboration and technological innovation outcomes in the context of SMEs. To achieve the purpose, we conducted hierarchical regression analysis through 266 samples from Korean manufacturing SMEs that is defined as an enterprise less than 300 employees. As a result, more diverse exploitations for types of technological collaboration have significant and positive impact on technological innovation outcomes. Additionally, the results show that absorptive capacity based on knowledge realization capability strengthens the impact on which external sources and types of technological collaboration affect technological innovation outcomes. Based on the results, we propose that SMEs require intense management efforts in establishing capability to create new knowledges, by combining existing knowledges, because excessive exploitations for external sources of technological collaboration necessarily do not help enhance technological innovation outcomes.
One consequence of fertilization in mammals is an increased resistance of the zona pellucida (ZP) to proteases and various chemical reagents. This phenomenon has been called 'zona pellucida hardening' (ZPH), and it is generally accepted that it is caused by the secretory products of cortical granules released by the egg at fertilization. ZP of mouse oocytes maturing in vitro in a chemically defined medium becomes progressively more resistant to solubilization by chymotrypsin ("Spontaneous" ZP hardening). In the present study, it was aimed to find the specificity of spontaneous ZPH in relation to its possible relevance to the cortical reaction and the physiological block to polyspermy. When a maturation inhibitors, cAMP analog(dbcAMP) and phosphodiesterase inhibitor (IBMX) was added to culture medium, it prevent spontaneous ZPH of mouse oocyte during in vitro culture. Thus spontaneous ZPH requires GVBD, since it is prevented by those agents, which inhibit GVBD in vitro. However, culture for 3 hours in the presence of PMA(lOng/ml), a protein kinase C activator, resulted in ZPH without GVBD, thus suggesting that ZPH may be regulated independently apart from the event of GVBD. Pretreatment of mouse oocyte with FBS result in partially inhibitory effect on subsequent spontaneous ZPH. Induction of GVBD in vivo had a inhibitory effect on the spontaneous ZPH, but subsequent spontaneous ZPH. Induction of GVBD in vivo had a inhinbitory effect on the spontaneous ZPII, but had no inhibitory effect on PMA-induced ZPH. Treatment with a microfilament formation blocker(cytochalasin-B) at 1${\mu}g$/ml concentration, resulted in the excellent inhibitory effect on spontaneous ZPH. However cytochalasin-B did not inhibit PMA-induced ZPH. Thus this suggesting that spontaneuse ZPH had a different mechanism from PMA-induced ZPH.
Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (1999) Drafted by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. The Act allows the use of electronic records and electronic signatures in any transaction, except transactions subject to the Uniform Commercial Code. The fundamental purpose of this act is to remove perceived barriers to electronic commerce. The Act's a procedural statute. It does not mandate either electronic signatures or records, but provides a means to effectuate transactions when they are used. The primary objective is to establish the legal equivalence of electronic records and signatures with paper writings and manually-signed signatures. With regard to the general scope of the Act, the Act's coverage is inherently limited by the definition of "transaction." The Act does not apply to all writings and signatures, but only to electronic records and signatures relating to a transaction, defined as those interactions between people relating to business, commercial and governmental affairs. The exclusion of specific Articles of the Uniform Commercial Code reflects the recognition that, particularly in the case of Articles 5, 8 and revised Article 9, electronic transactions were addressed in the specific contexts of those revision processes. In the context of Articles 2 and 2A the UETA provides the vehicle for assuring that such transactions may be accomplished and effected via an electronic medium. At such time as Articles 2 and 2A are revised the extent of coverage in those Articles(Acts) may make application of this Act as a gap-filling law desirable. Similar considerations apply to the recently promulgated Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA). Another fundamental premise of the Act is that it be minimalist and procedural. The general efficacy of existing law, in an electronic context, so long as biases and barriers to the medium are removed, confirms this approach. The Act defers to existing substantive law. Specific areas of deference to other law in this Act include: i) the meaning and effect of "sign" under existing law, ii) the method and manner of displaying, transmitting and formatting information in section 8, iii) rules of attribution in section 9, and iv) the law of mistake in section 10.

Because of the high unit cement content in the concrete mix, major concrete temperature rises are observed in the initial stages of hardening in structural members with large cross-sections made of high-strength concrete. While this temperature rise in the initial stages of hardening contributes to the initial development of the concrete strength, it also causes thermal cracking and obstructs medium to long-term increases of the concrete strength. In the study reports below, investigations were made on the effects of the concrete temperature rise in the initial stages of hardening on the medium to long-term development of the strength of structural concrete between the ages of 28 and 91 days. In the study, comparisons were made, for example, between the compressive strength of a control specimen subjected to standard curing at 28 days and the compressive strength of core specimens taken from structural members, and observations were made on the methods of evaluating the concrete strength in structure, defined here as the compressive strength of core specimens at 91 days. The results obtained indicate that, when the maximum temperature of the concrete is the structure does not exceed $60^{\circ}C$, the concrete strength in structure at the age of long-term will generally be greater than the compressive strength of the standard-curing specimens at 28 days, allowing one to evaluate the strength of the structural concrete in terms of the compressive strength of the 28-days standard-curing specimens. When, on the other hand, the maximum temperature of the concrete in the structure exceeds $60^{\circ}C$, the strength in concrete structure may be smaller than the compressive strength of the 28-days standard-curing specimens, creating risks in the evaluation of the concrete strength in structure by latter.
The advertisement market is an industry that is heavily influenced by media changes. As the digital broadcasting has settled, TV, a typical advertisement medium, has evolved from a passive content consuming medium into a platform for operating various data services as well as broadcasting programs. These changes mean that viewers are able to actively consume TV contents including advertisement, so the broadcasting industry needs to consider about the growth strategies that link the advertisement market with data services. This study designed a digital broadcasting data service that provides supplementary information of ID advertisement with short exposure time (less than 10 seconds) and insufficient space (less than 1/4 of TV screen). Specifically, we designed the user scenario and user interface of the data service, defined representative types of ID advertisement and the supplementary information for each type, developed a method, based on the international digital broadcasting standard DVB, for providing the supplementary information to the data service.

Formation of a soil plug in an open-ended pile is a very important factor in determining the pile behavior both during driving and during static loading. The degree of soil plugging can be represented by the incremental filling ratio (IFR) which is defined as the change in the plug length to the change of the pile embedment length. The experimental tests carried out in this research contain 138 tests that are divided as follows: 36 tests for single pile, 36 tests for pile group ($2{\times}1$), 36 tests for pile group ($2{\times}2$) and 30 pile group ($2{\times}3$). All tubular piles were tested using the poorly graded sand from the city of Karbala in Iraq. The sand was prepared at three different densities using a raining technique. Different parameters are considered such as method of installation, relative density, removal of soil plug with respect to length of plug and pile length to diameter ratio. The soil plug is removed using a new device which is manufactured to remove the soil column inside open pipe piles group installed using driving and pressing device. The principle of soil plug removal depends on suction of sand inside the pile. It was concluded that the incremental filling ratio (IFR) is changed with the changing of soil state and method of installation. For driven pipe pile group, the average IFR for piles in loose is 18% and 19.5% for L/D=12 and 15, respectively, while the average of IFR for driven piles in dense sand is 30% and 20% for L/D=12 and L/D=15 respectively. For pressed method of pile installation, the average IFR for group is zero for loose and medium sand and about 5% for dense sand. The group capacity increases with the increase of IFR. For driven pile with length of 450 mm, the average IFR % is about 30.3% in dense sand, 14% in medium and 18.3% for loose sand while when the length of pile is 300 mm, the percentage equals to 20%, 17% and 19.5%, respectively.
This study selects mannequins. fashion models. and fashion photographs as communication media to express the beauty of an ideal body. Each medium is discussed by the denotative and connotative aspects through the semiology. First, the mannequins are the most concrete medium which can form women's ideal body types and reproduce images in which the idealistic human body are coded in various figures. It embodies such various figures of the modem society by being replaced with the symbolic representation of our intrinsic·extrinsic forms. From a denotative view, the mannequins can be explained by ideal body types and expressive tools. The mannequin has implied connotative meanings of the similarity and dissimilarity between the actual body and itself. Second, fashion models have played a role in transmitting fashion images and presenting the ideal body. As fashion has adopted the body as its object fashion models have been used to express an ideal body. The development of the mass media in the 20th century has defined the standard of the beauty, Both the relationship between fashion designers and fashion models. and the standardization of beauty and fashion models are reviewed from a denotative view. Fashion models imply connotative meanings of the figurative and the controlled property. Third, fashion photographs are historical documents presenting us with the evidence of the ideal body types and culture throughout time. The photographs could be adopted as proper means to express fashion. having realistic and practical expressional functions, and it can be said that the realistic and practical expressional function of photographs has served as a suitable means for express fashion, and fashion photographs are discussed. The fashion photograph has the reproducible and the symbolic property.
This study attempts to empirically investigate the effects of government R&D subsidies on private firm's R&D investment in Korean industry. The R&D subsidy effect is defined as the average percentage change in firm's R&D expenditures between what was actually observed among firms that received a subsidy and what these firms would have spent had the subsidy not been received. To measure the effect we use Difference-in-Differences (DID) model which sign as to whether the relationship between government subsidies and private R&D investments is on stimulating or displacing private R&D expenditures. The differences between this study and previous studies are that we tries to measure the effect of Government R&D across various sited firm groups such as large, small & medium, and venture firms and we add one lag of the subsidy indicator in order to capture the effect of the subsidies on private R&D during 2 consecutive period. Empirically, a firm with government R&D subsidy increases its own R&D investment by 13.9%. Also on average, 1% of government R&D subsidy leads to 0.031% of private R&D increase. The main results of this study are as follows : First, Government R&D subsidies stimulate private firm's R&D expenditures. Second, Government R&D subsidies greatly increase (statistically significant) company financed R&D expenditures only for large firms but had no effect on the R&D expenditures of small & medium sized firms and venture firms.
The purpose of this study was 1) to understand the job transfer in education & training(E&T) programs & organizational situational characteristics, and 2) to analyze the effects of the E&T programs & organizational situational characteristic groups on each of the levels of job transfer. There is intimate relationship between E&T programs characteristics & organizational situational characteristics and job transfer, so we can't think of them separately. With this point of view the most frequently discussed problem is how to apply the theory in actual job, but in reality it's true that the improvement of job transfer can't reach the expectations of the E&T programs. In literature view study, the concepts of job transfer in E&T, the general theory on E&T, and the actual condition and points at issue of the existing E&T practices in the medium and small-sized hospitals were defined. As the results from empirical analysis, we could find followings: First, in evaluation of the job transfer, demographic characteristics (seniority, occupational category, position) variables have a significant different. Second, in degree of the job transfer, E&T programs characteristics(contents of E&T, design of E&T, conditions of E&T, teaching ability of lecturer, methods of E&T) variables have a different influence upon each of the evaluation levels of E&T. Third, support of CEO variables have a different influence on the job transfer according to contents, design, conditions of the E&T programs. Fourth, support of co-works variables have a different influence on the job transfer according to design, conditions, method of the E&T programs. Fifty, support of organizational atmosphere variables have a different influence on the job transfer according to contents, design, conditions of the E&T programs.

The propagation constant, which is defined for a double-positive (DPS) material of positive permittivity (${\varepsilon}'$) and permeability (${\mu}'$), is extended and derived for an epsilon-negative (ENG) material (${\varepsilon}'<0,\;{\mu}'>0$), a mu-negative (MNG) material (${\varepsilon}'>0,\;{\mu}'<0$), and a double-negative (DNG) material (${\varepsilon}'<0,\;{\mu}'<0$). By investigating how the permittivity loss (${\varepsilon}"$) and permeability loss (${\mu}"$) terms affect the propagation constant, we determine that the wave in the materials propagates as a right-handed (RH) triad or a left-handed (LH) triad. Regardless of the magnitudes of ${\varepsilon}"$ and ${\mu}"$, DPS and DNG materials become RH and LH media, respectively. However, ENG and MNG materials possess unusual characteristics that both materials become a RH medium when the sign of (${\varepsilon}'{\mu}"+{\varepsilon}"{\mu}'$) is positive and they become a LH medium when the sign is negative.
