Decentralized Motion Control of Mobile Manipulator

  • The mobile platform-manipulator discussed in this paper is a three link manipulator mounted on a mobile platform. This mobile manipulator is used for welding operation and it is able to operate in a narrow space. The task of the torch, which is mounted at the end effector of the manipulator, is to track along the seam line and the task of the mobile platform is to move the origin point of the manipulator in order to go away from the singularity of the manipulator’s configuration. In this paper, the path planning for the motion of two subsystems (i.e., the manipulator and the mobile platform) was presented by the decentralized control method. Two controllers for the mobile platform and the manipulator were designed, and the relationship between the independent controllers is its state information. The simulation results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control method.

  • Based on the sliding mode control theory, a decentralized controller design method is developed for a large scale system with a poly topic model. In terms of LMIs, we derive sufficient conditions for the existence of the decentralized controller guaranteeing a stable sliding motion. We also give an LMI-based control design algorithm. Finally, the proposed method is applied to decentralized stabilization of double-inverted pendulums. Simulation results show that our method gives not only the robust stability but perfect rejection of norm-bounded uncertainties.

  • In this paper, we propose a method using neural network (NN) to improve the motion control of a decentralized control system for cooperative transportation. In our former work, a decentralized control system for transporting a single object by multiple nonholonomic mobile robots has been developed.   • Passive velocity field control (PVFC) was previously developed for fully mechanical systems, in which the motion task was specified by behaviors in terms of a velocity field and the closed-loop was passive with respect to the supply rate given by the environment input. However, the PVFC was only applied to a single manipulator. The proposed control law was derived geometrically and the geometric and robustness properties of the closed-loop system were also analyzed. In this paper, we propose a virtual passivity-based algorithm to apply decentralized control to multiple 3­wheeled mobile robotic systems whose subsystems are under nonholonomic constraints and convey a common rigid object in a horizontal plain. Moreover, it is shown that multiple robot systems ensure stability and the velocities of augmented systems converge to a scaled multiple of each desired velocity field for cooperative mobile robot systems. Finally, the application of proposed virtual passivity-based decentralized algorithm via system augmentation is applied to trace a circle and the simulation results is presented in order to show effectiveness for the decentralized control algorithm proposed in this research.

  • This paper proposes about decentralized control approach based Leader-Follower formation control using LOS (Line of Sight) algorithm and unknown input observer. The position of robots which is a basic information in multi-robot or single robot motion control is determined by localization algorithm fusing UPS (Ultrasonic Position System) and kinematics model. For formation control, a decentralized control approach individually installing a local controller in leader and follower robot is adopted. Leader robot is controlled to track a specified trajectory by LOS algorithm, and the other robots follow the leader by local controller based on tracking platoon level function, self-sensing data and estimated information from unknown input observer. The performance of proposed method is proven through the formation experiment of two vehicle models.

Decentralized Control Design for Welding Mobile Manipulator

  • This paper presents a decentralized motion control method of welding mobile manipulators which use for welding in many industrial fields. Major requirements of welding robots are accuracy, robust, and reliability so that they can substitute for the welders in hazardous and worse environment. To do this, the manipulator has to take the torch tracking along a welding trajectory with a constant velocity and a constant heading angle, and the mobile-platform has to move to avoid the singularities of the manipulator. In this paper, we develop a kinematic model of the mobile-platform and the manipulator as two separate subsystems. With the idea that the manipulator can avoid the singularities by keeping its initial configuration in the welding process, the redundancy problem of system is solved by introducing the platform mobility to realize this idea. Two controllers for the mobile-platform and the manipulator were designed, respectively, and the relationships between two controllers are the velocities of two subsystems. Control laws are obtained based on the Lyapunov function to ensure the asymptotical stability of the system. The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed controllers.

  • This paper present controller designs based on the configuration control framework for a redundant manipulator to accomplish the basic task of desired, end-effector motion, while utilizing the redundancy to achieve the additional tasks such as joint motion control, obstacle avoidance, singularity avoidance. etc. A task based decentralized adaptive scheme is then applied for the configuration variables to track some reference trajectories as close as possible. Simulation results for a direct-drive three-link arm in the vertical plane demonstrate its capabilities for performing various useful tasks.

  • 본 논문에서는 각 운동축들(자유도 또는 부시스템)간의 상호연관성에도 불구하고 자기부상식 미세구동기가 주어진 경로를 가능한 정밀하게 추종하도록 하는 비집중 적응제어기 설계가 제시되었다. 본 제어기는 알고있는 부시스템을 기반으로 하는 모델기준제어와 국부적응제어로 구성된다. 전자는 매니퓰레이터의 운동을 안정화시켜 기준모델을 따라가도록 하고, 후자는 간섭작용을 무기력화시키는 수준만큼 국부이득을 조정하여 전체시스템의 안정을 도모하고 연관성에 의해 유발되는 추정오차를 줄여준다. 실험결과를 통하여 제시된 기법이 기존의 PID제어기에 비해 추종성능과 외란제거 능력면에서 우수함을 보였다.

  • The Output feedback linear quadratic regulator control is applied to the design of active suspension system using 7 DOF full car model. The performance index reflects the vehicle vertical movement, pitch and roll motion, and minimization of suspension stroke displacements in the rattle space. The elements of gain matrix are approximately decoupled so that each suspension requires only local information to generate the control force. The simulation results indicates that the output feedback LQ controller is more effective than purely passive or full state feedback active LQ controllers in following the road profile at the low frequency range and suppressing the road disturbance at the high frequency ranges.
