This study investigates the relationships between aggression and rejection/neglect by mothers, child temperament, day care experience for preschoolers; in addition, the moderating effect of self-regulation was investigated. The subjects were 338 preschool children. Teachers completed questionnaires that assessed aggression and self-regulation. Mothers reported on the temperament of children and parenting behavior. The rejection/neglect by mothers, child temperament, and daycare experiences were significant predictors of aggression. The moderating effect of self-regulation was found only in daycare experience, which suggests that high self-regulation protects aggression from day care experience.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects a music group therapy program has on cognitive function and life satisfaction. We targeted the elderly who are receiving service at a daycare center. This study monitored seventeen elderly subjects who were available for language communication, walking, and defecation function even if the subject had a slight mind-body function disorder based on using the service of the daycare facilities. The subjects visited each of the welfare centers one week prior to the Korean classical music group therapy program. We conducted a pre-test of MMSE-K(Mini-Mental State Examination, Korean version) modified by Park and Gwon(1989). We also supplemented the MMSE developed by Folstein(1975) and LSI-A(Life Satisfaction Index) for the elderly developed by Neugarten, Havighurst and Tobin(1961). We conducted the Korean classical music group therapy program for 15 sessions at 50 minutes each for 1~2 times a week from July 9 to September 13, 2013 at the daycare center for OO senior welfare center. The welfare center belongs to the experimental group, excluding the OO general welfare center, which is the control group. Finally, we carried out the post-test of the MMSE-K and LSI-A in the same manner as the pre-test. We carried out the post-test on July 17, 2013, 4 days after concluding the Korean classical music group therapy program. A t-test was used in order to analyze the differences in cognitive function and life satisfaction according to each group. We used SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. This study has significance by proving that the use of Korean classical music is conducive in the improvement of cognitive function and life satisfaction of the elderly at the daycare facilities. Also, we presented the actual contents of the study to the clinical field.
Purpose: This study aims to examine perceived safety management in teachers working for young children with disabilities, to grasp the state and problems of safety management and first-aid education at daycare center for young children with disabilities, and to provide basic materials to develop programs for safety management and first-aid education. Results: 1. For the perception items of accident possibility in daycare centers, career with more than 10 years had higher response in 'very high' and 'moderately high' than 'moderately or very low' and statistically significant difference was found(p < .05). 2. For the perception items of accident prevention in daycare centers, no teaches with at least college education thought that 'it was not possible to prevent' and most of them thought that 'it was totally possible to prevent' and statistically significant difference was found(p < .05). 3. For the performance level of safety management and first-aid items, forty and over(4.73) showed higher than age of 20-29(4.32) and 30-39 of age(4.26) and statistically significant difference was found(p < .05). 4. For the knowledge level of safety management and first aid items, the highest religion was found as Christian(16.96), followed by Catholic(15.33), Buddhism(14.91), and no religion(15.81) and statistically significant difference was found(p < .05). 5. For the items of confidence in safety management and first aid, performance level, and knowledge level, teachers who competed safety management and first-aid education( 4,48) had higher performance score than those who did not (4.17) and statistically significant difference was found(p < .05). 6. For the items of confidence in safety management and first aid, performance level, and knowledge level, teachers who competed first-aid education(2.77) had higher confidence than those who did not(2.35) and statistically significant difference was found(p < .05). Conclusion: The results suggest that safety management and first-aid education in teachers working for daycare center for young children with disabilities was closely correlated with knowledge and performance levels. Thus, it is necessary to provide continuous safety management and first-aid education for teachers working for day care center for young children with disabilities through regular in-service training. Also further research should be conducted with all subjects and various regions who contact with young children with disabilities.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effects of case-based learning on the coping ability of daycare center teachers in emergency situations. In the study knowledge of emergency treatment methods, attitude, intention and ability to perform CPR between were examined in an experimental group (daycare center teachers who participated in the small groups discussing case studies and comparing them with their own experience) and a control group. Methods: The study was designed using a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Sixty-four teachers were recruited from 40 child daycare centers in S city located in J province. Thirty-three teachers were assigned to experimental group and participated in the case-based small group learning. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 program to perform ${\chi}^2$-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and t-test. Results: The experimental group showed significantly higher posttest scores in knowledge, attitude, intention, and performance ability than those of the control group. Conclusion: The study results indicate that case-based small group learning on coping ability in emergency situation is effective in increasing knowledge, attitude, intention, and performance ability for daycare center teachers.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the emotional leadership of principals and organizational culture perceived by daycare center teachers on their job satisfaction. The subjects were 366 teachers who worked in daycare centers. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the teachers considered the level of the principals' emotional leadership to be above average. The largest group of the teachers viewed the organizational culture of the daycare centers as a collective culture, followed by an innovative culture, a hierarchical culture and a rational culture. Finally, the teachers considered the level of their job satisfaction as above average. They were especially more satisfied with welfare benefits and pay, and they were relatively less satisfied with working environments. Second, emotional leadership of the principals and organizational culture perceived by daycare center teachers were positively correlated with their overall job satisfaction. Third, as a result of analyzing the effects of the emotional leadership of the principals and organizational culture perceived by daycare center teachers on their overall job satisfaction, principals' social capabilities were found to be most influential, followed by the collective culture and the innovative culture which were the sub-factors of organizational culture.
The objective of this study is to understand the operational status of the support projects for childcare in daycare centers operated by the Support Centers for Childcare(SCC) during the COVID-19 pandemic and find ways to improve and develop the project operation. To this end, data were collected and analyzed through in-depth interviews from the 1st week to the 4th week of February 2022 with six childcare agents in charge of the support projects for childcare in daycare centers in the SCC located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. As a result of the study, it was found that the demand for diversification of project operation methods, expansion of non-face-to-face education, individual consulting, and small-scale education increased while operating the support projects for childcare in daycare centers in the SCC during the COVID-19 pandemic. Operational difficulties were found to be a lack of ability to use media, the burden of coping with unpredictable situations, and insufficient communication between daycare centers and childcare policy institutions. As for the support needs, it was found that it is necessary to employ computer specialists, establish an environment for activating online education, and provide an efficient work delivery system in emergencies.
The purpose of this study is to analyze publicness by the types of childcare centers, and factors related to publicness in the operation of childcare centers. The subjects of this study were 511 childcare centers. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, F-test, Duncan's post hoc test, and regression. The findings of the study were: First, Among childcare centers, Public childcare centers were high in universality, transparency and participation. But family daycare homes and private centers were low in universality, transparency, participation, and openness. Second, public childcare centers, family daycare homes, private childcare centers, major city and medium-sized cities affected universality in the operation of childcare centers. Public childcare centers, social welfare foundation childcare centers, family daycare homes, private childcare centers and proportion of capacity affected transparency in the operation of childcare centers. Public childcare centers, family daycare homes, private childcare centers and proportion of capacity affected participation in the operation of childcare centers. Government able to accomplish publicness in the operation of childcare centers if it would strengthen management process and expanded financial for childcare centers.
The research was conducted by center for children's foodservice management in Hanam-si. In order to improve job satisfaction, a survey was carried out by working conditions and job satisfaction in children foodservice employees working at child daycare centers registered from January to April. Ninety-five surveys out of 120 were collected, and 76 surveys were analyzed. Job satisfaction consisted of four elements, working environment, welfare, human relationships, and job-itself, analyzed by general characteristics. Pearson's correlation was carried out between job satisfaction and intention to change job by Likert 5 scales using SPSS statistic program. The percentages of child daycare centers owned by civilians was 52.6%, high school education level was 65.8%, permanent workers was 68.4%, and less than 1 year of foodservice was 34.2%. Average scores of job satisfaction were as follows: working environment scored 20.6 out of 25 points, welfare scored 10.3 out of 15 points, human relationships scored 17.5 out of 20 points, and job-itself scored 13.2 out of 15 points. The lowest job satisfaction average was 'I get paid fairly regarding the working hours and the amount of work' with a score of 3.6 points. Job satisfaction based on facility type, age, education level, and working period did not show significant differences, whereas hired status, numbers of foodservice children, and intention to change jobs showed significant differences. Hired status showed significant differences with welfare satisfaction (P<0.05). Numbers of children showed a significant difference with welfare and human relationship satisfaction (P<0.01, P<0.05). Intention to change job showed a significant difference with four elements of job satisfaction (P<0.05, P<0.01, P<0.01). In conclusion, to improve job satisfaction of children foodservice employees, working conditions and welfare satisfaction should be increased.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors associated with the health-related quality of life of family caregivers. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. This study included 191 primary family caregivers of elders who used home care services (home-visit nursing, home-visit care, daycare) covered by the public long-term care insurance. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires from December 2010 to June 2011. These data were analyzed by using hierarchical multiple regression. Results: The majority of the family caregivers were female (79.6%) and daughters-in-law (28.8%). The mean depression score was $6.33{\pm}6.49$ and the mean health-related quality of life score was $0.69{\pm}0.39$. It was found that the factors affecting the health-related quality of life of family caregivers included depression (${\beta}$=-.406, p<.001), home-visit nursing use (${\beta}$=.296, p<.001), and daycare use (${\beta}$=.178, p=.015), which accounted for 36.6% of their health-related quality of life. Conclusion: Using home-visit nursing and daycare services has a positive effect on the health-related quality of life of family caregivers. To improve health-related quality of life of family caregivers, South Korea needs to fully activate the home-visit nursing and daycare services, and to strengthen family support programs.
The study was conducted by regression analysis based on a survey with the subjects of 107 daycare teachers working at 120 daycare facilities located in Gyeonggi-do, so as to investigate the influence of daycare teachers' 'job stress' and 'job satisfaction' on their 'psychological happiness'. The results are: first, there was significant difference in job stress(F(3,103)=2.85, p<.05), job satisfaction(F(3,103)=5.88, p<.05) and psychological happiness(F(3,103)=3.52, p<.05) accordant to the kind of work facilities among social demographic variables. In the correlation between 'job stress' and 'job satisfaction', there was negative correlation(r= .-56, p<.(01). Second, in the correlation between 'job stress' and 'psychological happiness', there was negative correlation(r= .-41, p<.001). Third, in the correlation between 'job satisfaction' and 'psychological happiness', there was positive correlation(r= .54, p<.001). In the relationship between 'job satisfaction' and 'job stress', job stress had influence on job satisfaction($R^2$= .43, F=79.42, p<.001). The explanatory power of it was 43%. In the relationship between 'job stress' and 'psychological happiness', 'job stress' had influence on 'psychological happiness'($R^2$= .41, F=21.46, p<.001). The explanatory power of it was 17%. In the relationship between 'job satisfaction' and 'psychological happiness', 'job satisfaction' had influence on 'psychological happiness'($R^2$= 59, F=5457, p<.001). The explanatory power of it was 34%.
