  • To analyze building energy consumption, the building description for building energy performance analysis (BEPA) is required. The required data input for subject building is a basic step in the BEPA process. Since building information modeling (BIM) is applied in the construction industry, the required data for BEPA can be gathered from a single international standard file format like IFCXML. However, in most BEPA processes, since the required data cannot be fully used from the IFCXML file, a building description for BEPA must be created again. This paper proposes IFCXML-based automatic data input approach for BEA. After the required data for BEPA has been defined, automatic data input for BEPA is developed by a prototype system. To evaluate the proposed system, a common BIM file from the BuildingSMART website is applied as a sample model. This system can increase the efficiency and reliability of the BEPA process, since the data input is automatically and efficiently improved by directly using the IFCXML file..

  • We proposed the research on an analysis and prediction model that allows the identification of outliers or abnormality in the data followed by effective and rapid imputation of missing values was conducted. This model is expected to analyze efficiently the problems in the data based on the calibrated raw data. As a result, a system that can adequately utilize the data was constructed by using the introduced KNN + MLE algorithm. With this algorithm, the problems in some of the existing KNN-based missing data imputation algorithms such as ignoring the missing values in some data sections or discarding normal observations were effectively addressed. A comparative evaluation was performed between the existing imputation approaches such as K-means, KNN, MEI, and MI as well as the data missing mechanisms including MCAR, MAR, and NI to check the effectiveness/efficiency of the proposed algorithm, and its superiority in all aspects was confirmed.

  • This paper presents a data prediction method and its application to haptic-based teleoperation systems. In general, time delays inevitably occur during data transmission in a network environment, which degrades the overall performance of haptic-based teleoperation systems. To address this situation, this paper proposes an autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model-based data prediction algorithm for estimating model parameters and predicting future data recursively in real time. The proposed method was applied to haptic data captured every 5 ms while bilateral haptic interaction was carried out by two users with an object in a virtual space. The results showed that the prediction performance of the proposed method had an error of less than 1 ms when predicting position-level data 100 ms ahead.

  • This paper deals with research on innovative systems using Python-based artificial intelligence technology in the field of plant growth monitoring. The importance of monitoring and analyzing the health status and growth environment of plants in real time contributes to improving the efficiency and quality of crop production. This paper proposes a method of processing and analyzing plant image data using computer vision and deep learning technologies. The system was implemented using Python language and the main deep learning framework, TensorFlow, PyTorch. A camera system that monitors plants in real time acquires image data and provides it as input to a deep neural network model. This model was used to determine the growth state of plants, the presence of pests, and nutritional status. The proposed system provides users with information on plant state changes in real time by providing monitoring results in the form of visual or notification. In addition, it is also used to predict future growth conditions or anomalies by building data analysis and prediction models based on the collected data. This paper is about the design and implementation of Python-based plant growth monitoring systems, data processing and analysis methods, and is expected to contribute to important research areas for improving plant production efficiency and reducing resource consumption.

  • In this paper, a fatality model of car accident using data mining is proposed with the goal of reducing fatality of traffic accident. The analysis results with a proposed fatality model are utilized to improve a technology and environment for driving. For this, traffic accident data are collected, a data mining algorithm is applied to this data, and then, a fatality model of car accident is developed based on the analysis. The training data as well as test data are utilized to develop the fatality model. The important factors to cause fatality in traffic accidents can be investigated using the model. If these factors are taken into account in traffic policies and driving environment, it is expected that the fatality rate of traffic accident can be reduced hereafter.

  • In this study, three turbulent flame propagation models are compared using experimentally measured data of a 4 valves/cylinder spark-ignition engine. First two conventional models are B.K model and GESIM combustion model. The burning rates calculated from the two models are compared with the burning rates calculated from measured pressure data using the one-zone heat release analysis. GESIM combustion model predicts burning rates closer to the data acquired from the experiment in wide operating ranges than B-K model does. The third model is refined based on GESIM combustion model by including the effect of flame stretch, turbulent length scale band pass filter and a variable that considers flame size and the area of flame contacting the cylinder wall surface. The refined combustion model predicts burning rates closer to experimental results than GESIM combustion model does. Also, the refined combustion model predicts flame radius close to the experimental result measured by using optical fiber technique.

  • In the development of commercial promotion, chatbot is known as one of significant skill by application of natural language processing (NLP). Conventional design methods are using bag-of-words model (BOW) alone based on Google database and other online corpus. For one thing, in the bag-of-words model, the vectors are Irrelevant to one another. Even though this method is friendly to discrete features, it is not conducive to the machine to understand continuous statements due to the loss of the connection between words in the encoded word vector. For other thing, existing methods are used to test in state-of-the-art online corpus but it is hard to apply in real applications such as telemarketing data. In this paper, we propose an improved chatbot design way using hybrid bag-of-words model and skip-gram model based on the real telemarketing data. Specifically, we first collect the real data in the telemarketing field and perform data cleaning and data classification on the constructed corpus. Second, the word representation is adopted hybrid bag-of-words model and skip-gram model. The skip-gram model maps synonyms in the vicinity of vector space. The correlation between words is expressed, so the amount of information contained in the word vector is increased, making up for the shortcomings caused by using bag-of-words model alone. Third, we use the term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) weighting method to improve the weight of key words, then output the final word expression. At last, the answer is produced using hybrid retrieval model and generate model. The retrieval model can accurately answer questions in the field. The generate model can supplement the question of answering the open domain, in which the answer to the final reply is completed by long-short term memory (LSTM) training and prediction. Experimental results show which the hybrid word vector expression model can improve the accuracy of the response and the whole system can communicate with humans.

  • Occlusion is one of the most challenging problems for computer vision-based construction monitoring. Due to the intrinsic dynamics of construction scenes, vision-based technologies inevitably suffer from occlusions. Previous researchers have proposed the occlusion handling methods by leveraging the prior information from the sequential images. However, these methods cannot be employed for construction object detection in non-sequential images. As an alternative occlusion handling method, this study proposes a data augmentation-based framework that can enhance the detection performance under occlusions. The proposed approach is specially designed for rebar occlusions, the distinctive type of occlusions frequently happen during construction worker detection. In the proposed method, the artificial rebars are synthetically generated to emulate possible rebar occlusions in construction sites. In this regard, the proposed method enables the model to train a variety of occluded images, thereby improving the detection performance without requiring sequential information. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by showing that the proposed method outperforms the baseline model without augmentation. The outcomes demonstrate the great potential of the data augmentation techniques for occlusion handling that can be readily applied to typical object detectors without changing their model architecture.

  • This study proposes hybrid case-based reasoning and genetic algorithms model for customer classification. In this study, vertical and horizontal dimensions of the research data are reduced through integrated feature and instance selection process using genetic algorithms. We applied the proposed model to customer classification model which utilizes customers' demographic characteristics as inputs to predict their buying behavior for the specific product. Experimental results show that the proposed model may improve the classification accuracy and outperform various optimization models of typical CBR system.
