An Efficient Software Update Technique with Code-Banking & Delta-Image for Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크상에서 코드뱅킹 및 델타이미지 기반의 효율적인 센서노드 소프트웨어 업데이트 기법)

  • Software update has been regarded as one of fundamental functions in wireless sensor networks. It can disseminate a delta-image between a current software image operating on a sensor node and its new image in order to reduce an update image(transmission data) size, resultantly saving energy. In addition, code-banking capability of micro-controllers can decrease the update image size. In order to maximize the efficiency of the software update, the proposed scheme exploits both the delta-image and the code-banking at the same time. Besides, it additionally delivers a recovery delta-image to properly handle abnormal conditions, such as message corruptions and unexpected power-off during the update.

  • In case of APT attacks, the update server is being used as a means of dissemination, the update program is running malicious code or data in applications such as anti-virus signature is vulnerable to manipulation, SW Update threat identification and prevention measures are urgently required. This paper presents a natiional and international SW update structure, update process exploits and response measures to examine, Through the extraction/analysis of a domestic famous SW update log, we are willing to select the necessary component of the normal program update to identify a white list.

  • 한 개 이상의 사이트에 공간 데이타가 중복 저장된 분산 공간 DB에서, 동시에 수행될 수 있는 긴 트랜잭션의 변경은 일관성 제어를 위해 다른 사이트에 전파되어야 한다. 이때 같은 영역의 공간 데이타를 서로 다른 사이트에서 동시에 변경할 경우, 변경 상충 문제가 발생하거나 잠금 기법에 의한 오랜 대기 시간이 초래되는 문제가 있다. 또한 공간 객체는 잠금의 대상이 아닌 공간 관련성에 의한 종속성을 가진다.이 논문은 긴 트랜잭션으로 중복된 공간 데이타를 변경할 경우 중복 제어를 위한 변경 전파와 동시성 제어 문제를 다룬다. 중복된 공간 데이타의 변경 병렬성을 향상시키기 위해 영역 잠금 및 SR-bound WRITE 잠금 기법을 제시한다. 한 사이트에서 수정하는 객체들과 다른 사이트에서 수정하는 객체들 사이에 공간 관련성에 의한 종속성이 없을 경우 병렬 수정을 허용하도록 제어하며, 공간 관련성에 의한 종속성이 있을 경우 SR-based 2PC라 불리는, 확장된 2단계 완료 프로토콜로 협동작업을 수행해서 변경 상충을 해결하는 새로운 중복 제어 기법을 설계하고 구현한다.Abstract The update of a long transaction should be propagated to the other sites for consistency control, when spatial database are replicated at multiple sites to achieve availability, reliability, and performance. When the replicated spatial data are updated at the same time, the update of one site would be conflicted with the other or a user would not be able to access the replicated spatial data under the control of locking. Two spatial objects having spatial relationships should be cooperatively updated even if there are no conflicts of locking for them.This paper deals with the issues of concurrency control and update propagation of replicated spatial data. We present the concept of region lock and SR-bound WRITE lock for enhancing the parallelism of updating the replicated spatial data. If there are no spatial relationships between one site's objets and the other's objects, parallel update would be allowed. Concurrent update of two spatial objects having spatial relationships should be propagated and cooperated by using an extended two-phase commit protocol, called spatial relationship-based 2PC.

  • An ECG data compression algorithM using max-min slope update is proposed and a real time 3 channel ECG transmission system is implemented using the proposed algorithm. In order to effectively compress ECG data, we compare a threshold value with the max-min slope difference (MMSD) which is updated at each sample values. If this MMSD value is smaller than the threshold value, then the data is compressed. Conversely, when the MMSD value is larger than threshold value, the data is transmitted after storing the value and the length between the data which is beyond previous threshold level. As a result, it can accurately compress both the region of QRS, P, and T wave that has fast-changing and the region of the base line that slope is changing slow. Therefore, it Is possible to enhance the compression rate and the percent roms difference. In addition, because of the simplicity, this algorithm is more suitable for real-time implementation.

  • More views in data warehouse, can respond to the users more rapidly because the user's requests may be processed by utilizing only the materialized views with higher probabilities rather than accessing base relations. But, more views cause longer update duration of all the materialized views. During the update time, queries of users can not be processed because accesses to the datawarehouse are blocked. Thus, the update durations of the materialized views are necessary to be reduced. In this paper, we propose algorithm the update duration of the materialized views owing to managing by distinguishing insecton/deletion operations. Though there might overheads for distinguishing insertion/deletion, we concluded that the proposed algorithm could be excellent than others.

  • Tile caching technology is a commonly used method that optimizes the delivery of map imagery across the internet in modern WebGIS systems. However the poor performance of the map tile cache update is one of the major causes that hamper the wider use of this technique for datasets with frequent updates. In this paper, we introduce a new algorithm, namely, Partial Area Cache Update (PACU) that significantly minimizes redundant update of map tiles where the update frequency of source map data is very large. The performance of our algorithm is verified with the cadastral map data of Pyeongtaek of Gyeonggi Province, where approximately 3,100 changes occur in a day among the 331,594 parcels. The experiment results show that the performance of the PACU algorithm is 6.6 times faster than the ESRI ArcGIS SERVER$^{(r)}$. This algorithm significantly contributes in solving the frequent update problem and enable Web Map Tile Services for data that requires frequent update.

  • Our country is constructed the digital map in the first NGIS plan. Through digital map construction, it was had the potentiality that can more easily activate GIS. But these data included numerous problems from user's view. In the second NGIS plan, our government try to construct the framework data for the maximization of GIS utilization. This paper is showed a step of update that considered relationship between the national framework data themes, suggested the structure of maintenance activity for national framework data.

  • Sensor networks monitor the environment, collect sensed data, and relay the data back to a collection point. Although sensor nodes have very limited hardware resources, they require an operating system that can provide efficient resource management and various application environments. In addition, the wireless sensor networks require the code update previously deployed to patch bugs in program and to improve performance of kernel service routines and application programs. This paper presents EPRCU (Easy to Perform Remote Code Update), a new operating system for wireless sensor nodes, which has enhanced functionalities to perform remote code update. To achieve an efficient code update, the EPRCU provides dynamic memory allocation and program memory management. It supports the event-driven kernel, which uses priority-based scheduling with the application of aging techniques. Therefore, the proposed operating system is not only easy to perform wireless communication with the remote code update but also suitable for various sensor network applications.

Transaction Management Using Update Protocol in Fully Replicated Databases (완전중복 데이터베이스에서 갱신 규약을 적용한 거래 관리)

  • We propose a new concurrency control algorithm for enhancing the degree of parallelism of the transactions in fully replicated databases designed to improve the availability and the reliability. The update transactions can be logically decomposed of a read-only transaction and a write-only transaction. In our algorithm, a set of read operations of an update transaction is treated as a read-only transaction and the read-only transaction reads data items in the site to which it is submitted. And a set of write operations of the update transaction is treated as a write-only transaction and it is submitted to all corresponding sites after the update transaction has been completed. By using the proposed update protocol, all write-only transactions can execute at all sites atomically. The proposed algorithm can have transactions execute concurrently at the site to which they are submitted and, after the completion of each transaction, the update protocol is performed for updating their data items and checking their serializability. Therefore, the degree of parallelism of the transactions can be improved. Especially, if the probability of conflict among transactions is low, we can expect the higher degree of their parallelism.
