QuLa: Queue and Latency-Aware Service Selection and Routing in Service-Centric Networking

  • Due to an explosive growth in services running in different datacenters, there is need for service selection and routing to deliver user requests to the best service instance. In current solutions, it is generally the client that must first select a datacenter to forward the request to before an internal load-balancer of the selected datacenter can select the optimal instance. An optimal selection requires knowledge of both network and server characteristics, making clients less suitable to make this decision. Information-Centric Networking (ICN) research solved a similar selection problem for static data retrieval by integrating content delivery as a native network feature. We address the selection problem for services by extending the ICN-principles for services. In this paper we present Queue and Latency, a network-driven service selection algorithm which maps user demand to service instances, taking into account both network and server metrics. To reduce the size of service router forwarding tables, we present a statistical method to approximate an optimal load distribution with minimized router state required. Simulation results show that our statistical routing approach approximates the average system response time of source-based routing with minimized state in forwarding tables.

전술데이터링크 네트워크에서의 노드 이탈 관리 기법 (A Node Management Scheme in Tactical Data Link Network)

  • 현대전은 플랫폼 기반의 전장(PCW: Platform Centric Warfare)에서 네트워크 기반의 전장(NCW: Network Centric Warfare)으로 변화하고 있다. 네트워크 기반의 전장으로 변화하면서 네트워크 운용 및 관리의 중요성이 높아지고 있다. 본 논문은 군사용 우선 네트워크에서의 노드 이탈 관리 기법을 제안한다. 군사용 무선 네트워크는 노드의 네트워크 가입, 탈퇴가 비교적 자유로운 특징을 갖는다. 이러한 특징은 네트워크 가용성을 저해하는 요인이 될 수 있다. 일반 노드의 네트워크 이탈 상황에서 발생하는 가용성 저해요인을 파악하고, 이에 대해 RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication)를 이용한 네트워크 탈퇴 예측 방법을 이용한 기법을 제시한다. 마지막으로 모의실험을 통해 측정 RSSI 신호 시간 간격에 따른 예측 성공률을 확인한다.

System development for establishing shipyard mid-term production plans using backward process-centric simulation

  • In this paper, we propose a simulation method based on backward simulation and process-oriented simulation to take into account the characteristics of shipbuilding production, which is an order-based industry with a job shop production environment. The shipyard production planning process was investigated to analyze the detailed process, variables and constraints of mid-term production planning. Backward and process-centric simulation methods were applied to the mid-term production planning process and an improved planning process, which considers the shipbuilding characteristics, was proposed. Based on the problem defined by applying backward process-centric simulation, a system which can conduct Discrete Event Simulation (DES) was developed. The developed mid-term planning system can be linked with the existing shipyard Advanced Planning System (APS). Verification of the system was performed with the actual shipyard mid-term production data for the four ships corresponding to a one-year period.

CCN에서 정보제공자의 이동성 지원을 위한 푸싱 기법 (Provider's Mobility Supporting Proactive Neighbor Pushing Scheme in CCN)

  • CCN(Content-Centric Network) enables users to retrieve content using the content's name. Researchers face critical challenges in terms of mobility. Since the routing information is part of the content name, when the provider moves, it is necessary to update all the routers routing information. However, this requires significant costs. In this paper, we propose PNPCCN(Proactive Neighbor Pushing CCN), considering the popularity and rarity of mobility support, for providers in CCN environments. Via simulation studies, we demonstrate that our solutions are effective in terms of shorter numbers of retransmitted Interest packets, and average download times and higher delivery ratios during mobility.

Strengthening Authentication Through Content Centric Networking

  • While the internet has evolved in terms of information sharing and efficiency, it is still prone to security attacks and remains vulnerable even when equipped with a security mechanism. Repeated patching against hacks involves excessive wear of system equipment and high costs. Methods of improving network security include the introduction of security equipment and network partitions, but they have not been fully effective. A fundamental solution is the Operation Content Network (OCN), which enables the strengthening of authentication. In this paper, Instead of following the existing TCP/IP system, OCN establishes an immunity-based security system through content-centric communications. Data transmission occurs over a Content Centric Network (CCN), which is provided with a protocol verified by the CCNx group. Areas protected by OCN rely only on CCN for communication without using any IP. As such, it defends the system against unknown attacks, including zero-day attacks.

A Handover Management Scheme Based on User-Preferences and Network-Centric Approach

  • With the increase in a number of access technologies and data rates, a continuous connection among different networks is demand of the future wireless networks. In the last decade, user connectivity among different access networks remained a challenging job. Therefore, in this article, we proposed a user-centric and user-perspective based network selection mechanism for fast handover management in heterogeneous wireless networks. The proposed scheme selects the most appropriate network among available networks on the basis of resources i.e. cost, data rate, and link quality. Initially, we load the Media Independent Information Service (MIIS) with the information of cost and data rate provided by different network operators. Similarly, Mobile Node (MN) is also loaded with the user preferred cost and data rate for different applications. The MN obtains the information of cost and data rate from MIIS server upon a predefined threshold, and make a decision for handover according to its current cost and data rate. Furthermore, we employ an optimal threshold mechanism for initiation of the handover execution phase to minimize false handover indications. The proposed scheme is based on a survey for network selection and its implementation in C programming language to validate its performance and accuracy. The simulation result shows that the proposed scheme performs superior then the schemes present in the current literature.

Neighbor Cooperation Based In-Network Caching for Content-Centric Networking

  • Content-Centric Networking (CCN) is a new Internet architecture with routing and caching centered on contents. Through its receiver-driven and connectionless communication model, CCN natively supports the seamless mobility of nodes and scalable content acquisition. In-network caching is one of the core technologies in CCN, and the research of efficient caching scheme becomes increasingly attractive. To address the problem of unbalanced cache load distribution in some existing caching strategies, this paper presents a neighbor cooperation based in-network caching scheme. In this scheme, the node with the highest betweenness centrality in the content delivery path is selected as the central caching node and the area of its ego network is selected as the caching area. When the caching node has no sufficient resource, part of its cached contents will be picked out and transferred to the appropriate neighbor by comprehensively considering the factors, such as available node cache, cache replacement rate and link stability between nodes. Simulation results show that our scheme can effectively enhance the utilization of cache resources and improve cache hit rate and average access cost.

컨텐츠 중심 네트워크에서 해시 체인 기반의 효율적인 데이터 인증 기법 (An Efficient Data Authentication Scheme for Content Centric Networking)

  • 본 논문에서는 CCN(Content Centric Networking)에서 세그먼트 데이터 인증에 대한 연산 부하와 전송량 부하를 크게 줄일 수 있는 해시 체인 기반의 데이터 인증 기법을 제안한다. 제안방법은 컨텐츠의 실제 정보를 담은 데이터 세그먼트들에 해시 체인 인증을 적용하고, 각 세그먼트들의 해시값들로 구성된 메타 부분에 대하여 해시 체인과 MHT(Merkle Hash Tree)를 적용한 2계층 인증 방법이다. 해시 체인과 MHT를 적절히 사용하여 해시 체인 방법의 효율성을 활용할 수 있으며, 또한, 해시 체인의 단점인 데이터 손실과 순서대로가 아닌(out-of-order) 전송 문제를 해결할 수 있다. CCNx 라이브러리에 구현하여 100Mbyte 전송 시, 연산 부하와 전송량 부하를 측정한 결과, 약, 2.596%와 1.803%만을 발생시키며, 이는 CCNx 라이브러리에 기본 탑재된 패킷 별 서명(per-packet signing), MHT 기반 서명과 비교하여 크게 개선된 것이다.

국내 학술지 출현 학과정보 데이터셋 구축 및 자동분류 (Dataset construction and Automatic classification of Department information appearing in Domestic journals)

  • 과학기술 문헌을 활용한 계량정보분석에서 학과정보의 활용은 매유 유용하다. 본 논문에서는 한국과학기술인용색인데이터베이스에 등재된 국내 학술지 논문에 출현하는 대학기관 소속 저자의 학과정보를 추출하고 데이터 정제 및 학과유형 분류 처리를 통해 학과정보 데이터셋을 구축하였다. 학과정보 데이터셋을 학습데이터와 검증데이터로 이용하여 딥러닝 기반의 자동분류 모델을 구현하였으며, 모델 성능 평가 결과는 한글 학과정보 기준 98.6%와 영문 학과정보 기준 97.6%의 정확률로 측정되었다. 향후 과학기술 분야별 지적관계 분석 및 논문 주제분류 등에 학과정보 자동분류 처리기의 활용이 기대된다.

  • With the advancement of the Internet/IT technologies and the increased computation power, massive data can be collected, stored, and processed these days. The availability of large databases has brought forth a new era in which companies are hard pressed to find innovative ways to utilize immense amounts of data at their disposal. Indeed, data has opened a new age of business operations and management. There are already many cases of innovative businesses reaping success thanks to scientific decisions based on data analysis and mathematical algorithms. Big Data is a new paradigm in itself. In this article, Big Data is viewed as a new perspective rather than a new technology. This value centric definition of Big Data provides a new insight and opportunities. Moreover, the Business Analytics, which is the framework of creating tangible results in management, is introduced. Then the Internet of Things (IoT), another innovative concept of data collection and networking, is presented and how this new concept can be interpreted with Big Data in terms of the value centric perspective. The challenges and opportunities with these new concepts are also discussed.
