발포스펀지 의자시트의 진동전달 특성 (Vibration transfer characteristic of foaming sponge chair seat)

  • Recently, in the movie theater, the special chair is installed to maximize the viewing effect of movies. It is structured to convey a vibrational stimulus to a specially-designated parts of human body by attaching a vibration transducer to a existing theater chair. This paper describes the analysis of the vibration transfer characteristic of a foaming sponge seat for the design of the special chair. We could not apply the structural analysis S/W because it is difficult to obtain the mechanical properties and damping coefficients of the various type sponges. And then we computed the transfer functions by the global curve fitting program based on experimental modal analysis. The experimental response results comparatively coincide with those by the global curve fitting program. We also could obtain the natural frequencies, the modal damping coefficient ratio, the modal vectors and the whole transfer functions. Therefore we could analyze the dynamic characteristic for design of foaming sponge seat.

  • The modification factor( k-factor) of equivalent damping ratio utilized in the current state-of-the-practice to account for the imperfection of reinforced concrete structures in hysteresis loop is investigated. From this, it is found that the current modification factor does not include the effect of cyclic loading, one of the important characteristic properties of earthquake loading. This could be taken into account by considering the energy absorption efficiency based on the cummulative plastic deformation. From the study, it is suggested that the current approach for the modification factor for the equivalent damping ratio should be reformed.

  • Recently, the application of viscoelastic material in the field of vibration isolation has gradually increased due to its achievement in structural damping capacity, and many of the theoretical and experimental study has been carried out. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of the visoelastically supported cantilever beam, of which govering equation is based on the Bernoulli- Euler equation, is analyzed theoretically and experimentally. Expression for stiffness of multi-layered viscoelastic materal has been developed using variables such as frequency and number of layers, and further, based on this expression, damping characteristic of the beam is investigated with experimental verification.

Damping BGP Route Flaps

  • BGP route flap damping(RFD) was anecdotally considered to be a key contributor to the stability of the global Internet inter-domain routing system. However, it was recently shown that RFD can incorrectly suppress for substantially long periods of time relatively stable routes, i.e., routes that only fail occasionally. This phenomenon can be attributed to the complex interaction between BGP path exploration and how the RFD algorithm identifies route flaps. In this paper we identify a distinct characteristic of BGP path exploration following a single network event such as a link or router failure. Based on this characteristic, we distinguish BGP route updates during BGP path exploration from route flaps and propose a novel BGP route flap damping algorithm, RFD+. RFD+ has a number of attractive properties in improving Internet routing stability. In particular, it can correctly suppress persistent route flaps without affecting routes that only fail occasionally. In addition to presenting the new algorithm and analyzing its properties, we also perform simulation studies to illustrate the performance of the algorithm.

  • 본 연구에서는 액체로켓엔진에서 발생되는 고주파 연소불안정 문제를 제어하기 위한 수동제어 장치인 헬름홀쯔 음향공의 형상변화에 따른 음향공의 감쇠 특성에 대하여 연구하였다. 오리피스의 지름과 길이가 일정한 헬름홀쯔 형상 음향공의 지름을 점차 줄여 음향공의 형상이 헬름홀쯔 음향공의 오리피스 지름과 같은 지름을 가진 쿼터웨이브 형상으로 변화 할 때 각 단계별 튜닝되는 음향공의 부피는 작아지지만 그에 따른 음향공의 음향 감쇠 효과는 거의 일정하다는 것을 상온 음향실험과 수치해석을 비교 하면서 그 특성을 확인 하였다.

  • The Active Constrained Layer Damping(ACLD) combines the simplicity and reliability of passive damping with the low weight and high efficiency of active control to attain high damping characteristics. The proposed ACLD treatment consists of a viscoelastic damping which is sandwiched between an active piezoelectric layer and a host structure. In this manner, the smart ACLD consists of a Passive Constrained Layer Damping(PCLD) which is augmented with an active control in response to the structural vibrations. The arc type shell model is introduced to describe the interactions between the vibrating host structure, piezoelectric actuator and viscoelastic damping. The system is modeled by applying ARMAX model and changing a state-space form through the system identification method. An optimum control law for the piezo actuator is obtain by LQR(Linear Quadratic Regulator) method. The performance of the ACLD system is determined and compared with PCLD in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the ACLD treatment. Also, the actuation capability of a piezo actuator is examined experimentally by varying thickness of viscoelastic material(VEM).

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the energy dissipation characteristics of viscous damping wall (VDW). VDW is consisted of a plate floating in a thin case made of steel plated filled with highly viscous silicone oil. Because VDW demonstrates both viscous damping and stiffness characteristics, the viscous resisting force can be expressed as the sum of velocity dependant viscous damping force and displacement dependant restoring force. The viscous resisting force and energy absorbing capacity can be easily adjusted by changing three factors, i.e. viscosity of the fluid, gap distance and area of the wall plates. VDW was tested using a series of harmonic (sinusoidal) displacement history having different frequency and amplitude and the force-displacement relationship was recorded.   • Conventional methods for reducing vibration in engineering designs may be undesirable in conditions where size or weight must be minimized, or where complex vibration spectra exist. Fe-Mn Damping alloy with a combination of high damping capacity and good mechanical properties can provide attractive technical and economical solutions to problems involving seismic, shock and vibration isolation. We have studied the noise and vibration characteristic of Dampalloy and checked Dampalloy reduced noise about 3.9dB and vibration about 15.9 times as compared conventional material through laboratory research. With this result, we obtained a good possibility of material substitution about the bridge expansion joint

Some alloys with a combination of high damping capacity and good mechanical properties can provide attractive techanical and economical solutions to problems involving seismic, shock and vibration isolation. In this paper, it showed the noise and vibration characteristic was compared conventional rail joint to improved rail joint(damping alloy) for reducing noise and vibration. Its applicability to rail joint is discussed.
