This study aims at the structural analysis with fatigue according to the configuration of railway vehicle wheel. Maximum equivalent stress or deformation is shown at the lower face in contact with wheel and rail. As model B has the maximum stress or deformation which becomes lower than model A, model B is shown to have more durability than model A. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample history' with the average stress of 0 to $-10^{11}$ Pa and the amplitude stress of 0 to $10^{10}$ Pa, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 3%. This stress state can be shown with 6 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE Bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. The structural result of this study can be effectively utilized with the design of railway vehicle wheel by prevention and durability against its damage.
The purpose of this study is to predict the life of a Lug under the real service load history. The techniques of predicting a fatigue life under load spectrum are discussed and some are developed. The stress is calculated by multiplying the stress under unit force with the Finite Element Analysis. The cycles are counted by the Rainflow counting method and then the mean stress effect is considered by the suggested conversion function. The Manson's Double Linear Damage Rule is used as the cummulative damage method.
In order to investigate the accuracy and applicability of steel equivalent constitutive model, the calculated results were compared with typical tests of steel frames under static and dynamic loading patterns firstly. Secondly, four widely used models for time history analysis of steel frames were compared to discuss the applicability and efficiency of different methods, including shell element model, multi-scale model, equivalent constitutive model (ECM) and traditional beam element model (especially bilinear model). Four-story steel frame models of above-mentioned finite element methods were established. The structural deformation, failure modes and the computational efficiency of different models were compared. Finally, the equivalent constitutive model was applied in seismic incremental dynamic analysis of a ten-floor steel frame and compared with the cyclic hardening model without considering damage and degradation. Meanwhile, the effects of damage and degradation on the seismic performance of steel frame were discussed in depth. The analysis results showed that: damages would lead to larger deformations. Therefore, when the calculated results of steel structures subjected to rare earthquake without considering damage were close to the collapse limit, the actual story drift of structure might already exceed the limit, leading to a certain security risk. ECM could simulate the damage and degradation behaviors of steel structures more accurately, and improve the calculation accuracy of traditional beam element model with acceptable computational efficiency.
In this study, a fatigue damage estimation for an ice-going vessel navigating through broken ice fields was carried out. A numerical model to simulate the interaction between ice and structure developed using the finite element method was introduced. Time series of stresses calculated by the proposed model and the corresponding fatigue analysis results are presented. The numerical model enables the long time analysis through an efficient interaction model, the application of the periodic media analysis and the convolution integral, and it allows the stress time history to be extracted directly using the finite element method. To describe the probability distribution of stress amplitudes, the 2-parameter Weibull model was applied to the calculated stress time history, and the fatigue damage was calculated using the Palmgren-Miner rule. Finally, the fatigue damage considering the ice conditions of the Baltic Sea was calculated using the proposed method and LR method, and the results were compared to each other.
This study introduces the fragility analysis method for the safety evaluation of reinforced concrete pier subject to earthquake. Damage probability is calculated instead of the failure probability from definition of the damage state in the fragility curve. Not only the damage model determined by the response of structure subject to earthquake, but also the plastic-damage model which can represent the local damage is applied to fragility analysis. The evaluation method of damage state by damage variable in global structure is defined by this procedure. This study introduces the fragility analysis method considering the features of nonlinear time history behavior of reinforced concrete element and the plastic behavior of materials. At last, This study gives one of the approach method for seismic margin evaluation with the result of fragility analysis to design seismic load.

The adequacy of a number of advanced earthquake Intensity Measures (IMs) to predict the structural damage of earthquake resistant 3D R/C buildings is investigated in the present paper. To achieve this purpose three symmetric in plan and three asymmetric 5-storey R/C buildings are analyzed by nonlinear time history analysis using 74 bidirectional earthquake records. The two horizontal accelerograms of each ground motion are applied along the structural axes of the buildings and the structural damage is expressed in terms of the maximum and average interstorey drift as well as the overall structural damage index. For each individual pair of accelerograms the values of the aforementioned seismic damage measures are determined. Then, they are correlated with several strong motion scalar IMs that take into account both earthquake and structural characteristics. The research identified certain IMs which exhibit strong correlation with the seismic damage measures of the studied buildings. However, the degree of correlation between IMs and the seismic damage depends on the damage measure adopted. Furthermore, it is confirmed that the widely used spectral acceleration at the fundamental period of the structure is a relatively good IM for medium rise R/C buildings that possess small structural eccentricity.
This study investigates structural, fatigue and modal analyses at bicycle suspension seat post. When weight is applied to the saddle, models 1 and 2 have the weakest strength at the part connected with saddle. And model 2 is greater total deformation and equivalent stress than model 1. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads at models 1 and 2, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample history' with the average stress of 0 to $-10^4MPa$ and the amplitude stress of 0 to $10^4MPa$, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 4%. This stress state can be shown with 5 to 7times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. Model 1 has better impulse relaxation and passenger sensitivity than model 2. The structural result of this study can be effectively utilized with the design of bicycle suspension seat post by investigating prevention and durability against its damage.
This study analyzes stress, fatigue and vibration at clutch on the rotation of wheel. Eigenfrequencies from 1'st to 6'th order about clutch assembly are shown with the vibration at more than 800Hz. Maximum equivalent stress is shown with the frequency of 800Hz in case of the harmonic vibration applied with force. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample History' with the average stress of 0MPa to $-10^5$ MPa and the amplitude stress of 0MPa to $10^5$ MPa, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 3.23%. This stress state can be shown with 6 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. The structural result of this study can be effectively utilized with the safe design of clutch.
This study analyzes stress, fatigue and vibration on main rotor and body of helicopter. The maximum stress is shown on adjoint part between body and main rotor at the lower position of main rotor. As the maximum displacement amplitude is happened at 4000Hz, there is no resonance and the state of helicopter becomes safe at hovering without the abnormal air current and the disabled rotor. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample History' with the average stress of 0MPa to $-10^5MPa$ and the amplitude stress of 0MPa to $8.539{\times}10^5MPa$, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 3%. This stress state can be shown with 5 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. The structural result of this study by using the analysis of vibration and fatigue can be effectively utilized for safe and durable design of helicopter.
