To approach science education for all which has been required in STS program, it is indispensable to develop variously differentiated education courses that are suitable for various students. In order to do that, we have to abstract essential items that are dealt with in common from science textbook which is regarded as the kernel of science education. Then, these items are developed by fitting for each level-STS science study models. The purpose of this study is to improve the level-based investigation competence by applying these models to various level learning. We obtained some results as the following: First, there has been a positive change for attitude to study science in part. Second, we find the materials in our life and this study is relating to science, technique and society. So we find out the fact that there is close connection between science technique and our life. And also it helps encourage to learn. Third, in the process of searching for and producing STS materials, students have a chance to study for themselves by working out self-leading research activity. Finally, students can reduce a preconception that science is difficult by encouraging attitudes to search for and make our problems in our life scientifically and the habits thinking of and understanding our daily life itself in the scientific sight.

Objective : Migration can be a stressful process to people because they have to adjust a lot of things including habits, routine and cultural behavior. Also, Migrant can negatively impact on participation in daily meaningful occupations. Thus, the purpose of this research is to investigate whether participation in meaningful occupations after immigration and environmental factors impact the QOL in migrant women. Method : Migrant females who live in Australia were invited to participate in the study (n= 9). In this study, participation, environmental factors and QOL were measured using the questionnaire, which was developed by researchers. Purposive sampling was used to select the participants who were then asked to fill out a survey. Both quantitative data and qualitative data were collected. The SPSS program was used to process the quantitative data that was transcribed and coded. Result : Spearman's rank correlation coefficient shows that the total scale of QOL and the total scale of occupational engagement were significantly correlated at the 0.05 level. Conclusion : There was a significant relationship between quality of life and occupational engagements. Migrant women tend to have a lack of participation in meaning occupations thus, it seems to impact on their quality of life.
The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the factors which university students feel as stress in their daily life and the correlation between these and their eating habits. The subject are students enrolled at 'H' university in Asan. There are 801 students who response for this research. We surveyed and analyzed the correlation between the life stress and eating habit of university students. It is analyzed that the objects suffered stress most by 'schooling' and 'job complication.' Surveying the general eating habit of university students, it is found that they do not eat meal regularly, i.e., 'average meals (40.9%)' and 'irregular meal(35.2%).' No significant difference was observed in the regularity of meals between sexes. When it comes to overeating or voracity, male students answered 'sometimes(77.6%)' or 'often(22.5%)', but female students answered 'sometimes(66.2%)' or 'often(28.2%)', which means that female students are more frequent in overeating or voracity. The frequency of eating snack is more than once a day 60.1% in female students and 47.3% in male students, which shows that the rate of female students is much higher than that of male students. Surveying the correlation between stress that male and female university students suffer and the regular meal, we found that both of them tend to eat meal irregularly if they are stressed. Comparing the stress for its factor, male students eat meal irregularly if they are stressed by 'schooling' and female students eat meal irregularly if they are stressed by 'figure.' Checking the correlation between stress and time spent for meal, it is found that while male students eat meal in a hurry when they are stressed by 'job affair', female students do so when they are stressed by 'home economy. Analyzing the correlation between frequency of snack and stress, both male and female tend to eat snack more frequently when they are stressed more. In general, males like the oily food more than male, but when students get stresses, females want to eat oily food than male. Analyzing the correlation between stress and preferential menu, males like green vegetables, sea food in the life get less stresses than others Females like a menu of meat get higher stress than others.
Purpose: The mental health during the elementary school years is important to develop overall healthy behaviors and well adapt to society. So as to provide basic data for comprehensive health education programs, we investigated the state of mental health problems and health promotion behaviors among rural elementary school students, along with the relationship between the two factors. Methods: In total, 421 5th and 6th grade students were recruited to answer a self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire was composed of questions about general demographic characteristics, 4 items over mental health-interpersonal vulnerability, depression, anxiety, hostility-, and 5 items over health behaviors-general health habits, computer addiction, accident prevention, infection prevention, and mental health-. The participation rate was 96%(407/421). Results: 1) The mean and the standard deviation of mental health problems were as follows; interpersonal sensitivity $2.06{\pm}0.70$, hostility $1.88{\pm}0.73$, depression $1.74{\pm}0.69$, anxiety $1.72{\pm}0.66$. 2) The mean and the standard deviation of health-promoting behaviors were as follows; prevention of infectious diseases $3.37{\pm}0.47$, hygiene and daily-life habit $3.09{\pm}0.41$, mental health $2.81{\pm}0.51$, accident prevention $2.79{\pm}0.57$, computer usage and health $2.61{\pm}0.56$. 3) Students with high academic performance, good relationships with friends and teachers, high household economic status, and good family relation, showed higher scores in health-promoting behaviors. 4) Higher scores in mental health problems were significantly correlated with lower scores in health-promoting behaviors. Conclusion: In developing comprehensive school health programs, it is necessary to find ways to improve both health promoting behaviors and mental health problems.
The amount of salt intake of Korean people is 11.4 grams per a day, which is 2.3 times of the recommended daily salt intake by WHO - 5 grams of salt a day. The relationship between high salt consumption and increased risk of high blood pressure, observed not only in hypertensive but also in normotensive patients. High salt intake is also associated with an increased risk of heart attack, cerebral ischemia and osteoporosis. Therefore, this research is for developing a salt taste sensor to reduce sodium consumption and improve meal habits for the perception of a more bland taste of most foods. When the sensor was put into food sample, current intensity achieved with distribution cables. Current intensity was correlate with a simple equivalent of salt taste stimulus intensity. The salt taste sensor consists of salinity & temperature measuring probe, signal processing circuit and LCD display & LED warning light. When salinity is going over a set point, LCD displayer indicate salt taste on LCD panel by percent value (%), and at the same time, blue LED light change to red LED light. So we could know the grade of salt taste in soup before meals conveniently and objectively. The results show that operating range of 10 to $80^{\circ}C$ and accuracy of ${\pm}0.1%$ were achieved with an analysis time of about 2 or 3 sec. Moderate reductions in salt intake can help to avert adult diseases and lead a healthy life.
The study was performed to investigate the dietary behaviors and attitudes toward the lesson of Food and Nutrition in Home Economics course among middle school students in rural area. The participants of the study were 647 second-grade students in a middle school in Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. The main nutrition problems of the students were found to be deviated food-intake habits and irregular meal time. Twenty six percent of female students and 14.8% of male students skipped breakfast. Seventy three percent of the total students have a tendency of food aversions. The food groups they dislike most were vegetables and pulses. They answered they got nutrition information mostly from the class at school. Their favorite topic in the lesson of Food and Nutrition was cooking. Some students did not like Food and Nutrition because it requires too much memorization. Teaching methods they liked were lecture, discussion, and audio-visual presentation. Although 81.7% of the students thought that the lesson of Food and Nutrition was useful, only 17.1% of the students practiced what they learned from the lesson. These results confirm that nutrition education in middle school is essential to the students in rural area and that it is needed to find an effective teaching method and materials for them to change positively their food behaviors at daily life.

This study was conducted to investigate correlation between soybean and their products consumption and risk factors for atherosclerosis in the healthyKorean adults. Health behaviors such as smoking, exercise, alcohol consumption and dietary patterns and nutrient intakes of 193 healthy adult subjects aged from 26 to 69 were assessed by using interview and semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire. The BMI, blood pressure and biochemical parameters of blood were examined as well as preferences for taste and family history of disease. Data were expressed as quartile according to soybean and their products consumption. The average daily soybean and their product consumption for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th percentile group were 36, 78, 112, and 182g, respectively. The more consumption of soybean and their products, the more intake of energy, protein, lipid, fiber, Ca, cholesterol as well as frequency of exercise, smoking and drinking. Serum TG, total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol and AI as risk factors of atherosclerosis were positively correlated with smoking and drinking (p<0.05). Especially, serum TG was positively correlated with hypertension and BMI (p<0.01). But, no correlation between exercise, salty taste, meat preference, soybean products consumption and atherosclerosis risk factors was found, which means that life styles such as smoking and drinking rather than dietary habits might influence atherosclerosis in healthy adults. In conclusion, present soy products consumption should be increased by way of developing new generation soy products in order to exert anti-atherosclerotic effect by soybean in human.
Disease prevention and health promotions are basically needed to be healthy, health education is the most useful mean to accomplish them. Preschool children are being developped, their health problem can effect their health status through their lives. This study was attempted to survey for status of health education of kindergarten for preshoolers and to provide the basic precious data for nursing intervention. The subjects were 51 kidergarten teachers. The data were collected by the questionaires, which consiste of 25 items concerning daily life habits of children and 1 item concerning the problems of health education for preschoolers. The data were analyzed by SAS program. The results of this study are as folleowed ; 1. The most frequently educated subjects were 'adequate and safe play' and 'hand washing', 'walking and running straightly', 'oral hygiene or tooth brushing', 'walking staires'. 2. The most frequently used teaching method was the explaining. 3. The most frequently used instructional method was the pictures. The slide films and OHP was seldomly used media. 4. The most effective teaching method which perceived by the kindergarten teachers was role play . Discuss ion and compensation/reinforcement were comparatively effective method also. 5. The most effective instructional media which perceived by the kindergarten teachers was a real object/model. 6. The problems of health education for preschoolers were 'deficiency of developped health educational programs' and 'inconsistency between parents' education and kindergarten teachers' education', 'deficiency of instructional media'. The other problems were' the knowledge deficit of teachers themselves' and 'the difficulty of measure the effect of education', 'time deficit'. Conclusionally, we have to realize the health of children is the future of our health, and reinforce the health education for preschoolers to accomplish the disease prevention and health promotion.

Objectives The present study was designed to analyze the posture pattern of healthy right-handed male and to investigate the effect of Chuna treatment. Methods Twenty healthy right-handed male were selected in this study. Body posture was measured by Body $Style^{(R)}$. After that, subjects received Chuna treatment on lumbar and pelvis area. Finally, the 2nd measurement was carried out. Results In shoulder height, left shoulder was higher than right one. In pelvic height, right iliac crest was higher than left, followed by longer right leg than left. In lower limb angle suggesting valgus or varus knee. In height of scapula inferior angle, right seemed higher than left. After the Chuna treatment, shoulder height, pelvic height, and leg length difference showed significant improvement. Other variables showed improvement but it was not significant. Conclusions These results suggest that right-handed male have some characteristic posture pattern because of their daily life habits, and Chuna treatment can be effective in correcting bad posture.
This study was designed to develop a website for providing nutrition information and education for college women and young women. The website focuses on two topics ; general nutrition and desirable weight control. This program is located at http : // www.ezydiet.co.kr. This program is composed of 5 major sections. The first two sections were designed to provide information ; one for general nutrition, and the other for providing information regarding weight control. The first section includes information regarding young adult women's diet, nutrition standards, such as the RDA or Korean Food Pyramid, drinking and smoking. The second section coveres information regarding desirable control, foods with high or low calories, eating disorders and popularly used dieting methods. The third section is for simple nutrition assessment, consisting of assessment of ideal body weight and obesity, energy requirements, and eating habits. The fourth section was designed to introduce and help users to apply behavioral modification techniques, such as monitoring, goal setting, stimulus control and reinforcement. The final section was designed for meal planning, by introducing a food exchange list and menu examples for one week. The characteristics of this web-based program are as follows ; 1) provide nutrition information systematically, 2) involve sections for the participation of the user, 3) include food pictures to help understanding of nutrition information, 4) include management modules for some sections to revise or update the information. One-hundred and ten female university students participated in the evaluation of this website. The evaluation results were favorable. About 90% of subjects rated that this program covers major topics 'well ' or 'very well', and that it was 'easy'to 'very easy'to understand the contents on website. Two-thirds of subjects rated quite positively on questions regarding attractiveness, overall quality and technical quality of website. In addition, about three-fourths of subjects answered that this website was helpful in increasing nutrition knowledge and in applying nutrition information into daily life. These results suggested the possibility of using a website as a means of providing nutrition information and education for young adult women.
