  • Cutting performance and wear behavior were studied with the diamond micro-blade of Cu/Sn bond materials containing various amount of lubricant materials such as graphite and $MoS_2$. Measurement of instantaneous electric power consumption for cutting glass workpiece at the constant velocity was conducted and proposed as a method to assess cutting efficiency. The energy consumption of micro-blade for glass cutting decreased with the content of graphite and $MoS_2$ while wear amount of blade in volume increased with the amount of lubricant addition during the dicing test. It is because that hardness, flexural strength, and fracture toughness ($K_{IC}$) reduced with the amount of lubricant addition. Blades with $MoS_2$ additive showed higher mechanical properties than those with graphite additives when the same amount of the lubricant additive in wt.% was added. Due to the lower density of graphite than $MoS_2$, higher volume fraction of graphite could result in stronger effect on lowering electric power consumption by reducing the friction between blade and work piece however increasing wear rate due to the reduction in strength and fracture toughness. Adhesive wearing mode of micro blade could be remarkably improved by the addition of graphite as well as $MoS_2$.

  • This study assessed the long term structure of forest age groups and the possibility of a domestic wood supply based on the wood industry buildup master plan. Wood is assumed to be supplied by main cutting, renewal, cutting damaged trees and thinning. The cohort equation was applied to identify the dynamic changes in forest area according to the age groups. The sixth age group, which composed of only 7.7% in 2010, is expected to comprise 73% of the total production land. The area distributions of the other age groups are expected to be between 5.3 - 5.6%. Consequently, the production volume from main cutting accounts for approximately 93 - 95% of the total production. The production volume from thinning, which depends on the area of the second and third age groups, will be decreased gradually. When the volume of domestic timber supply was compared with the timber demand from a previous study, the self-sufficiency of timber demand will be approximately 83% in 2050.

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of plug cell volume and medium on rooting and growth of lateral shoot cuttings of a few tomato cultivars. Plug cell volume was varied from 23 to 300 mL or control (cutting bed) and media used were carbonized rice hull (CRH), CRH+perlite, CRH+peatmoss and perlite+peatmoss. Nursery plants were able to be transplanted in 15 to 20 days after lateral shoots cutting in tomato. In volume of cutting media, the pots of 23 to 300 mL were proper, although root growth was gradually limited in decreased media volume. Rooting and growth was not influenced by plug tray cell medium of 120 mL or more. Cherry tomato Pepe (c.v.) showed 100% rooting and better growth, while in Momotaro (c.v.) rooting was 90%. There were 100% rooting and no considerable changes grown in all media tested of cutting plug tray volume of 30 mL.

  • The maintenance and repair work of sidewalk block pavement is a construction that requires a large amount of budget to be invested every year. It is important to establish an appropriate standards for estimating construction cost to ensure proper budgeting and quality. In this study, the standards for estimating the cost of maintenance and construction work for sidewalk blocks that can be applied to the construction volume classified according to the site conditions, construction type, and equipment use differentiated from new construction was established. As a result, the daily construction volume was presented by reflecting excavator and truck as equipment in the combination of paver and common worker. The re-installation was applied by separating the construction volume of sections with general blocks and induction/raised blocks based on the installation of sidewalk blocks after demolition. Generally if block cutting is necessary, the precision construction conditions using a cutting machine were taken into consideration to secure the construction quality. In addition, it has been revised to apply classified construction volume into A and B-Type depending on the park and site conditions.

  • Particulate is the foreign insoluble material in injectable solution inadvertently present in a given product. Considerable efforts have been made to avoid or minimize particulate contamination by pharmaceutical manufacturers during the production of parenteral products. Particulate contamination of the parenteral products can occur mainly during the opening (cutting) the container immediately before clinical use. In this study, particulate contamination generated during the opening process of ampoules (conventional type, 1-point and color-break ampoules) was compared with that of a prefilled injectable container (prefilled syringe). The particles were examined under a microscope after filtration of the total fluids in the containers. Particles having wide range of size distribution were found from all the ampoules tested. The contamination from the I-point ampoule and colorbreak ampoule was much less than from the conventional ampoule. Glass particles generated by cutting the glass-made ampoules seemed a principal source of the particulate contamination. The glass-partiaulte contamination could be improved substantially by replacing the ampoule containers with the prefilled syringe. Prefilled syringe, which can be used without any cutting process. did not generate particulates during the use. Therefore, it was concluded that prefilled syringe is most preferable container for the small volume parenteral (SVP) fluids in terms of particulate contamination.

  • The curved surface machined by plate end mill causes a excess non-cutting volume, in these cases ball end mill is used for the curved surfaces. This study is aimed to obtain the optimum cutting conditions of various cutting speed, table speed, tool diameter, radius of curvature roughness on the conditions of various cutting speed, tool diameter, radius of curvature when machining the curved surface using the ball end mill. After designing curve rates, obtaining NC data by CAD/CAM system through CC-Cartesian method and transferred the data through DNC system, we machined the specimens by the CNC machining center, The surface roughness of specimens was measured by surface roughness tester and CNC 3D coordinate measuring machine. The cutting condition were the same as follow velocity; 15, 20, 25 30m/min, feed rate;40, 60, 80, 100m/min and radius of curvature; 30,40,50,60mm, tool diameters; ø8, ø12, ø16, ø 20mm. Analizing the working results, we can acquire the optimum cutting condition of curved specimen at the cutting velocity of 20~25m/min and the feed rate of 80mm/min. As the same cutting condition the best surface roughness was showed at ø16mm of the tool diameter. But the tool diameter was smaller than ø8mm. we could improve for the surface roughness by controlling the cusp.

  • Jet cutting technology currently makes use of a generic supersonic gas jet to improve the cutting speed and performance. In order to get a better understanding of the flow characteristics involved in the supersonic jet cutting technology, the axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations have been solved using a fully implicit finite volume method. Computations have been conducted to investigate some major characteristics of supersonic coaxial turbulent jets. An assistant gas jet has been imposed on the primary gas jet to simulate realistic jet cutting circumstance. The pressure and the temperature ratios of the primary and assistant gas jets are altered to investigate the major characteristics of the coaxial jets. The total pressure and Mach number distributions, shock wave systems, and the jet core length which characterize the coaxial jet flows are strongly affected by the pressure ratio, but not significantly dependent on the total temperature ratio. The assistant gas jet greatly affects the basic flow characteristics of the shock system and the core length of under and over-expanded jets.

  • Three-axis CNC surface machining entails a series of processes including rough cutting, intermediate cutting and finish cutting for a reference surface defined in CAD/CAM. This study is targeting development of an integrated NURBS surface interpolator that can incorporate rough, intermediate and finish cutting processes. In each process, volume to be removed and cutting condition are different according to the shape of a part to be machined and the reference surface. Accordingly, the proposed NURBS surface interpolator controls motion in real-time optimized for the machining conditions of each process. In this paper, a newly defined set of G-codes is proposed such that NURBS surface machining through CNC is feasible with minimal information on the surface composition. To verify the usefulness of the proposed interpolator, through computer simulations on NURBS surface machining, total machining time, size of required NC data and cutting force variations are compared with the existing method.

  • In Euclidean plane geometry, areas of polygons can be computed through a finite process of cutting and pasting. The Hilbert's third problem is that a theory of volume can not be based on the idea of cutting and pasting. This problem was solved by Dehn a few months after it was posed. The purpose of this article is not only to study Hilbert's third Problem and its proof but also to provide basis for the secondary school mathematics.
