A Study on the Determination of Material Property by Cylinder Compression Test (원기둥 압축 시험을 통한 소재의 물성치 평가에 관한 연구)

  • In the study, the flow stress of material and friction condition were determined by using the cylinder compression test and numerical method. We proposed the flow stress equation including the initial yield strength to predict it from the upper bound method. The upper bound technique uses the velocity field which includes two unknowns to effectively express bulging. Also, inverse engineering technique uses the object function to minimize area enclosed by load-stroke curve. The friction factor is determined from the radius of curvature of the barrel by cylinder compression test. Flow stress and initial yield strength predicted from the above techniques are verified through the finite element simulation.

  • 하천에 포함되는 각종 시설물을 설계하는데 있어 기준이 되는 하천설계기준에는 대부분 하천의 대표유속을 통해 시설물의 규모와 형태를 결정하는 공식이 제시되어 있다. 이러한 대표유속의 경우 대부분 평균유속을 사용하고 있으며 하천의 형태와 시설 등에 의한 영향으로 국부적으로 유속이 증가하는 경우 유속보정계수를 이용하여 평균유속을 보정하여 사용한다. 이러한 유속보정계수는 만곡, 세굴, 저수로 간섭, 근고공 및 수제공 등에 적용되며 본 연구에서는 하천의 곡률에 의한 유속보정계수를 수치모의를 통해 검증하고자 한다. 하도 중심의 곡률반경의 변화에 따른 평균 유속과 국부유속의 차이를 계산하고 기 제시된 보정계수 산정식과 비교하여 산정식의 활용성에 대한 검증을 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통해 유속보정계수의 중요성과 활용성을 제고하고 하천시설물의 설계 시에 평균유속이 아닌 보정된 대표유속을 활용한다면 하천시설물에 대한 안전성을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

Study on Velocity Measurement and Numerical Computation in a Rectangular Duct with $90^\circ$ Bend Elbow (곡면 엘보우를 가진 사각덕트 내의 유속측정 및 수치계산에 관한 연구)

  • Fluid flow in a rectangular duct for 90$^{\circ}$ bend elbow with the ratio of 1.5 between its curvature radius and width is measured by 5 W laser doppler velocity meter. The fluid flow is also computed by commercial software of STAR-CD for comparison between measured and computed velocity profiles in the duct. Reynolds numbers for the comparison are 11,643, 19,746 and 24,260. From the comparison, computation of principal velocity components in the duct predicts the experimental data somewhat satisfactorily even though those of minor velocity components and turbulent kinetic energy do not match with the experimental data quite well. K-factor for the bend elbow is computed to be average 0.086 while the equivalent ASHRAE data is 0.07.

Distribution of Wheel Loads on Curved Steel Box Girder Bridges (곡선 강상자형교의 윤하중 분배)

  • In the case of horizontally curved bridges, the use of curved composite box girder bridges are increased due to its functionality and for aesthetical reason. As it compared with the open section, the steel box girder bridges have advantages to resistant of distortion and corrosion. In practice the grid analysis is conducted by utilizing only the cross beam. Since the stiffness of the concrete slab is not included in the grid analysis, the cross beam is induced the distribution of the live load. In this study the affects of the radius of curvature, the number of diaphragm and cross beam to the load distribution of the curved steel box girder bridge was investigated by applying the finite element method. The results indicate that the curvature of curved bridge had a large affect of the load distribution and as the curvature was increased the load distribution factor was increased. A single diaphragm at the center of girder is important role for the load distribution effects and structural stability, but additional diaphragm did not affect it as much. The affects of the cross beam to the load distribution were investigated and its influence was minor. It can be safely concluded that the addition of cross beam does not aid the purpose of the live load distribution. And the stiffness of concrete slab for the load distribution effects should be concerned in the design of curved steel box girder bridges.

Study on the Maintenance Cost of Railway Infrastructure Using Line Classification and TMV Data (선로등급 및 검측차 검측정보를 고려한 철도시설 유지보수비용 산정에 관한 연구)

  • During the feasibility study of new rail lines, maintenance cost of railway infrastructure has mostly been estimated based on the track length and on simplified parameters; however, the estimation reliability can be improved by employing the correction factor from UIC 715, as well as the line classification in UIC 714. The correlations between maintenance cost and various parameters such as weighted track length based on line classification, radius of curvature, gradient and worn -out rate have been analyzed according to the case studies. Prediction of the maintenance cost has been carried out using the cost data, which were representative of the whole cost data; as a result, it was demonstrated that a cost model based on the line classification and the correction factor was more reliable than the existing models. Furthermore, possibilities of using data from both the track measurement vehicle and from the maintenance information system, which are under development, have been investigated and, based on this investigation, a combined cost model using line classification, radius of curvature, gradient and worn-out rate, among other factors, will be proposed in the near future.

Development of Empirical Formula for Transverse Dispersion Coefficient Based on Theoretical Equation in River Bends (만곡부에서 이론식에 기반한 횡분산계수 경험공식 개발)

  • In this study, a new empirical equation for the transverse dispersion coefficient has been developed based on the theoretical background in river bends. The nonlinear least-square method was applied to determine regression coefficients of the equation. The estimated dispersion coefficients derived by the new equation were compared with observed transverse dispersion coefficients acquired from natural rivers and coefficients calculated by the other existing empirical equations. From a comparison of the existing transverse dispersion equations and the new proposed equation, it appears that the behavior of the existing formula in a relative sense is very much dependent on the friction factor and the river geometry. However, the new proposed equation does not vary widely according to variation of friction factor. Also, it was revealed that the equation proposed in this study becomes an asymptotic curve as the curvature effect increases.

Development of Artificial Neural Network Techniques for Landslide Susceptibility Analysis (산사태 취약성 분석 연구를 위한 인공신경망 기법 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop landslide susceptibility analysis techniques using artificial neural networks and to apply the newly developed techniques for assessment of landslide susceptibility to the study area of Yongin in Korea. Landslide locations were identified in the study area from interpretation of aerial Photographs and field survey data, and a spatial database of the topography, soil type and timber cover were constructed. The landslide-related factors such as topographic slope, topographic curvature, soil texture, soil drainage, soil effective thickness, timber age, and timber diameter were extracted from the spatial database. Using those factors, landslide susceptibility and weights of each factor were analyzed by two artificial neural network methods. In the first method, the landslide susceptibility index was calculated by the back propagation method, which is a type of artificial neural network method. Then, the susceptibility map was made with a GIS program. The results of the landslide susceptibility analysis were verified using landslide location data. The verification results show satisfactory agreement between the susceptibility index and existing landslide location data. In the second method, weights of each factor were determinated. The weights, relative importance of each factor, were calculated using importance-free characteristics method of artificial neural networks.

Flexural Resistance Statistics of Composite Plate Girders (국내 생산 강재를 적용한 강합성 거더 휨저항강도의 통계적 특성)

  • The objective of the present study is to provide statistical resistance statistics for steel-concrete composite plate girder sections under positive and negative moments. Statistical properties on yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and fracture toughness of domestic structural steel products, gathered from an analysis of over 16,000 samples, were evaluated. Using the steel samples for the plate girder, the bias factor and the coefficient of variation of the ultimate flexural resistance for representative composite plate girder sections under positive and negative flexures were presented. In calculating the ultimate flexural resistance of the composite section, the moment curvature relationships were developed using the incremental load approach considering material nonlinearity for the steel girder. The predicted statistics can be used in the future for the efficient calibration of LRFD code.

Torso Pattern Design for Korean Middle-Aged Women using 3D Human Body Scan Data (차원 인체 스캔 데이터를 활용한 한국 중년여성 토르소 원형 설계)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide Torso pattern for Korean middle-aged women using 3D human body scan data. 155 women in their 40's or 50's were measured by Martin's anthropometry. Merging the data of 914 middle aged women provided by Korean agency for technology and standards, total of 1,069 subjects' data were analyzed. For data analysis, ANOVA, factor analysis and cluster analysis were done using SPSS PC+. And representative subject of each cluster was selected and they participated in 3D scanning and Torso pattern suggested for middle-aged women Torso pattern which investing the amount of ease according to each group for diffuse front interscye 30%, armscye circumference 30%, back interscye 40% using 3D human body scan data. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, as a result of the factor analysis, the first factor was 'obesity index of body', The second factor was 'verticality size of body', The third factor was 'verticality length of upper bodice', The fourth factor was 'drop value to represent silhouette', and the fifth factor was 'physique of upper bodice'. And, middle-aged women type were classified 3 types according to the cluster analysis. Type 1(Y-type) was the long upper Torso with wide shoulder. Type 2(H-type) was flat-body type with comparatively thin upper bodice and thin lower bodice. And type 3(A-type) was the obese type with comparatively thin upper bodice and fat lower bodice. Secondly, using CAD program, point filtering was performed and approximated surface model was made. It used that generated surface smoothing corrected for abnormally extruded points and scattered points based on the curvature information. And 3D surfaces were flatted onto the plane by the internal tools of CAD program. Difference ratios of outline length and area between 3D curves and 2D plane were 0.42% and 0.54%, respectively. Third, wearing test by the sensory evaluation showed that distinct difference almost every category. The movement functionality test shows that, in all the tests which reveal significant differences, especially, 'comparison pattern A' experienced inconvenience to neck width and neck depth.

  • Concept of the comfort and fitness has become a major concern in the basic function of the ready-made clothes. Until now, ready-made clothes were not made by on the basis of the bodytype, but by the body size only. This research was performed to classify and characterize the bodytypes of Korean adult males. Sample size was 1290 subjects and their age range was from 19 to 54 years old. 15 variables from the photographic data of 1112 subjects were applied to analyse the bodytype of th\ulcorner lower part of trunk. Data were analyzed by the multivariate method, especially factor and cluster analysis. The groups forming a cluster can be subdivided into 5 sets by crosstabulation extracted by the hierarchical cluster analysis. 5 bodytypes classified by the photographic sources could be combined with the anthropcmetric data and were demonstrated with 5 silhouette. Type 2 and 3 in the lower part of trunk were dominant and were composed of the majority of 56.8% of the subjects. Bodytypes of Korean males were influenced by the degree of posture erectness and of curvature of the front side of the body in waist and abdomen.
