전압 이득이 향상된 단상 전류형 qZ-소스 인버터 (Enhanced Voltage Gain Single-Phase Current-Fed qZ-Source Inverter)

  • This paper proposes a performance improvement of existing single-phase current-fed qZ-Source inverter. Voltage gain of the traditional voltage-fed full-bridge inverter and single-phase current-fed qZ-source inverter is only equal to or smaller than input voltage. The proposed inverter can obtain twice higher voltage gain than the single-phase current-fed qZ-Source inverter by adding an extra switch and a capacitor in the circuit. In addition, the proposed inverter shares the common ground between dc input and ac output voltage. Therefore, the proposed inverter can eliminate the possible ground leakage current problem when it is used for grid-tied photovoltaic inverter system. A 120 W prototype inverter is built and tested to verify performances of the proposed inverter.

  • 최근 들어, 저전압·대전류 출력 특성을 갖는 연료전지를 위한 새로운 발전시스템이 주목받고 있다. 연료전지 발전시스템에서는 dc-dc 승압용 컨버터와 dc-ac 인버터가 필요하다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 연료전지 발전시스템을 위한 ZVS 동작을 가진 dc-dc 능동 클램프 전류형 하프 브리지 컨버터를 제안하였다. 제안된 컨버터는 일반적인 dc-dc 컨버터에 비해 높은 효율과 높은 소자 이용율을 가진다. 연료전지 발전시스템은 연료전지(PEMFC)의 낮은 전압(28∼43[Vdc])을 380[Vdc]로 승압하기 위한 능동 클램프 전류형 하프 브리지 컨버터로 구성하였다. 단상 풀 브리지 인버터는 220[Vac], 60[Hz] 교류 출력을 얻기 위해 적용하였다.

  • Isolated Current fed full-bridge converter with active clamp is analyzed in this paper. An active clamp branch is used for limiting the voltage overshoot in the bridge switches and rectifier diodes. Zero voltage switching(ZVS) is also realized by using the energy stored in the transformer leakage inductance. To analyze the converter, 6 modes of operation are introduced and investigated. For each of the modes, voltage and current equations are derived together with corresponding equivalent circuits. 200W prototype dc-dc converter is assembled and verifies the effectiveness of the analysis and simulation.

  • Transformer saturation in full bridge (FB) isolated DC-DC converters is caused by uneven switching speeds and voltage drops in semiconductor devices and mismatched gate signals. In order to prevent transformer saturation, most popular and widely used approach is to insert a capacitor in series with the transformer windings. This study conducts extensive analyses on transformer saturation and the effect of DC blocking capacitors when they are placed in the primary or secondary windings of a transformer. The effect of the DC blocking capacitors is verified in voltage-fed and current-fed FB converters.

  • Ac-dc PWM single-stage converters that integrate the PFC and dc-dc conversion functions in a single switching converter have been proposed to try to minimize the cost and complexity associated with implementing two separate and independent switch-mode converters. In this paper, two simple ac-dc single-stage PWM full-bridge converters are considered - one current-fed, the other voltage-fed. The operation of both converters is explained and their properties are noted. Experimental results obtained from simple lab prototypes of both converters are presented, then compared and discussed.

  • 양방향 컨버터는 연료전지 발전 시스템의 인버터 dc link와 저전압 배터리를 연결시켜 준다. 방전 모드(boost)에서는 저전압(battery: 48[V])측에서 고전압(dc link: 380[V])측으로, 충전 모드(buck)에서는 저전압측 배터리로 전력이 전달된다. 본 논문에서는 방전모드 시 MOSFET으로 구성된 1.5[kW] 능동 클램프 전류원 풀 브리지 컨버터가 동작하고 배터리 충전 시 IGBT로 구성된 전압원 하프 브리지 컨버터가 동작한다.

  • The paper describes an automatic frequency control current-fed inverter for forging applications. The IGBT in series with diodes as its switching devices in the inverter circuit which is of full-bridge type. The operating frequency is automatically tracked to maintain a small constant leading phase angle when load parameters change. The load voltage is controlled to protect the switches. The output power can be adjusted by varying the input current from phase controlled rectifiers which is a part of current source. The system has been operated at 15-17 kHz. The output power transferred to the load is 1,595 watts. It can heat the steel work pieces with 15 mm diameter and 120 mm long from room temperature to approximately 1100 $^{\circ}C$ within 20 seconds with 0.97 leading power factor on the input side.

  • Recently, a fuel cell is remarkable for new generation system. The fuel cell generation system converts the chemical energy of a fuel directly into electrical energy. The fuel cell generation is characterized by low voltage and high current. For connecting to utility, it needs both a step up converter and an inverter. The step up converter makes DC link and the inverter changes DC to AC. In this paper, full bridge converter and the single phase inverter are designed and installed for fuel cell. Simulation and experiment verify that fuel cell generation system could be applied for the distributed generation. In this paper, the 1.5kW active clamp current-fed full bridge converter employing MOSFETs is operated to discharge the battery whereas a voltage-fed half bridge converter employing IGBTs is operated to charge the battery.

Coupled Inductor-Based Parallel Operation of a qZ-Source Full-Bridge DC-DC Converter

  • This study presents a novel transformer isolated parallel connected quasi Z-source (qZ-source) full-bridge DC-DC converter that uses a coupled inductor in both the qZ-source network and output filter inductor. Unlike traditional voltage-fed or current-fed converters, the proposed converter can be open- and short-circuited without damaging switching devices. Therefore, the desired buck and boost functions can be achieved and converter reliability can be significantly improved. All the bulky inductors in the qZ-source network and output filter can also be minimized with the proposed inductor structures. A 4 kW prototype DC-DC converter is built and tested to verify the performance of the proposed converter.

A Novel PCCM Voltage-Fed Single-Stage Power Factor Correction Full-Bridge Battery Charger

  • A novel pseudo-continuous conduction mode (PCCM) voltage-fed single-stage power factor correction (PFC) full-bridge battery charger is proposed in this paper. By connecting a freewheeling transistor in parallel with an input inductor, the PFC cell can operate in the PCCM with a constant duty ratio. Thus, the dc/dc stage can be designed using this constant duty ratio and the restriction on the duty ratio of the PFC cell is eliminated. As a result, the input current distortion is less and the dc bus voltage becomes controllable over the wide output power range of the battery charger. Moreover, the operation principle of the dc/dc stage is designed to be similar to that of a conventional phase-shifted full-bridge converter. Therefore, it is easy to implement. In this paper, the operation of the new converter is explained, and the design considerations of the controller and key parameters are presented. Simulation and experimental results obtained from a 1 kW prototype are given to confirm the operation of the proposed converter.
