  • In this study, micro electrochemical machining method was introduced for accomplishment the fabrication technology of functional parts and smart structures using the Ni-Ti shape memory alloy. From the experimental result, the micro part which has very fine surface could be achieved by use of micro electrochemical process with point electrode method. Concretely, the optimal performance of micro electrochemical process in Ni-Ti SMA was obtained at the condition of approximately 100% of current efficiency and high frequency pulse current. That is, much finer surface integrity and shape memory effect can be obtained at the same condition mentioned above.

  • The study was carried out to investigate the change of bacterial growth in vitro according to polarity, current intensity and time, to prepare the basic data for electrotherapy and clinical research. The Gram positive Staphylococcus aureus and Gram negative Escherichia coli 1mm infect wound were cultured in Trypticase Soy Brath and Trypticase Soy Agar. The results were as followings. 1. The current stimulated group was changed in bacterial growth according to polarity, current intensity and time respectively. 2. The bacteriolytic effect revealed in the anode but the inhibitory effect of bacterial growth revealed in the cathode. 3. The lumber of E. coli reduced after 6-hours but the numbers of S. aureus reduced after 2 hours in Trypticase Soy Brath. 4. The anode showed acid reaction and cathode showed alkaline reaction in Trypticase Soy Agar.

  • The currents in the rails of an electromagnetic railgun are concentrated in a near surface region. In order to understand this phenomenon, this paper deals with computation of the current distribution related to skin effect in a railgun. An analytical solution is obtained for a twodimensional model. It is found that current concentration at the interface between the rails and the armature is affected by the velocity, length and conductivity of the armature, that skin effect in the rails is affected by the relative velocity between the rails and the armature rather than other factors, and that skin depth in the rails is inversely proportional nearly to the square root of the velocity.

  • In order to know the effect of surface irregularity in the detection of local wall thinning of pipeline using pulsed eddy current (PEC), the lift-off effects on PEC signal have been investigated. Three kinds of parameters in the PEC signal, which is "peak amplitude", "time to peak amplitude" and "time to zero crossing" are analyzed to separate the lift-off effects in the PEC signal. The distance from sensor to the bottom of sample which is the total thickness of combined insulator and sample is kept constant. The magnitude of the differential peak amplitude is increased with increasing sample thickness, the time to peak amplitude is increased with increasing the sample thickness. To determine the effect of lift-off, a number of balanced transient responses combining wall thinning locations and lift-off distances were plotted.

  • This paper describes the study of the effect on real power system due to the inclusion of the MTR at Buk Che-ju TP #2. The test system in which the transformers are represented in detail and rest Che-ju systems are represented as an equivalent system on the bus is simulated by the EMTDC. Simulation results include magnitude of inrush current and voltage drop on the bus at various CB closing time, and they show the effect on Che-ju system by the inrush current of the Buk Che-ju TP #2's MTR is not considerable.

  • Differential field effect transistors with double gate metal for integrated humidity sensors have been fabricated and the drain current drift characteristics to relative humidity have been investigated. The aspect ratio was 250/50 for both transistors to get the current difference between the sensing device and non-sensing one. The normalized drain current of the fabricated humidity sensitive field effect transistors increases from 0.12 to 0.3, as relative humidity increases from 30% to 90%.

  • Welding variables and conditions in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) effect on the quality and productivity of the weld, extensive research efforts have been made to analyze the effect of the welding variables and conditions. In this study dynamic behavior of GMAW system is investigated using the characteristics of the power supply, wire and welding arc. Characteristic equation of wire is modified to include the effect of droplets attached at the electrode tip. The dynamic characteristics of arc length, current, voltage with respect to the step, ramp inputs of CTWD was simulated. From results of simulation, some predictions about dynamic characteristics of GMAW and welding process are available. The proposed simulator and results appear to be utilized to determine the proper welding conditions, to be improved by considering power supply dynamic characteristics.

  • Streaming electrification on insulating paper and pressboard under D.C. and A.C. electric field was investigated by using paper tubes and oil circulation apparatus. At first, flowing of static charges as measured with no electric field. As the temperature of oil increased, the measured current curve hows peak. As the velocity increased, it shows increasing exponential curve. Then, we applied A.C. and D.C. electric field on paper tube and the current from relaxation tank to earth was measured, which other factors such as temperature and velocity were varied like case of no electric field. The ions in oil carry the charges. So electric field makes asymmetry effect, and electrophoretic effect on ions in oil. We find that as the electric field intensity increased, the charges which were made by electric double layer were increased. The charge vs. velocity curve made peak point at a velocity.

  • Statistical design of experiments was successfully employed to investigate the effect of alternating magnetic field on activation of polycrystalline Si (p-Si) doped as n-type using $\textrm{PH}_3$, by full factorial design of three factors with two levels. In this design, the input variables are graphite size, alternating current, and activation time. The output parameter, sheet resistance, is analyzed in terms of the primary effects and multi-factor interactions. Notably, the three-factor interaction is calculated to be a dominant interaction. The interaction between graphite size and activation time and the main effect of current are important effects compared to the other variables and relevant interactions. Alternating magnetic flux activation is proved a significantly beneficial processing technique.
