This paper presents a novel prototype of a current source resonant inverter using insulated gate bipolar transistors for driving a streamer reactor, streamer generation technology has been recognized as one of the best methods for water treatment, disinfection, industrial wastes utilization, and so on. However, some technological difficulties related to efficient streamer production have been significant problems restricting streamer usage in the industrial plants. Introduced in this paper is a pulse density modulated high frequency inverter for a plasma generate, which is developed with the aim to improve power conversion and control characteristics of the streamer reactor by using advances in power electronic technology. The developed system implements the feedforward control-based pulse density modulation control scheme with pulse width modulation feedback control strategy to compensate temperature and other environmental influences on streamer discharge.
The x-ray pulsar GX 1+4 was observed by us in four balloon- borne experiments carried out from Hyderabad, India during 1991-1995 period with a hard x-ray telescope. The x-ray telescope consists of two collimated large area xenon-filled proportional counters with an effective area of $2400 cm^2$, a field of view of $5^{\circ}{\times}5^{\circ}$ and sensitive in the energy band of 20 - 100 keV. The pulsar was detected in bright state in two of the four experiments and x-ray pulsations with 120 second period were detected clearly. Pulsation period, rate of change of period with time, pulse fraction, pulse profile and energy spectra of the source were determined from these studies. During March 1995 observation, the x-ray pulse of GX 1+4 was found to be double-peaked compared to a single-peak pulse profile detected in December 1993. Details of these results are presented and their interpretation discussed in terms of the current accretion models of x-ray binaries.

A high-power Yb-doped femtosecond (fs) fiber laser at a repetition rate of 1.83 GHz is reported. By employing a 5-stage repetition rate multiplier, the repetition rate of the mode-locked master oscillator was multiplied from 57.1 MHz to 1.83 GHz. The ultrashort pulse output at 1.83 GHz was amplified in a two-stage Yb-doped fiber amplifier, leading to >100 W of fs laser output with a pulse duration of 290 fs. The theoretical pulse width along the fiber was simulated, showing that it was in good agreement with experimental results. Further improvement in power scaling is discussed.

The adaptive learning circuit is designed on the basis of modeling of MFSFET (Metal-Ferroelectric-Semiconductor FET) and the numerical results are analyzed. The output frequency of the adaptive learning circuit is inversely proportional to the source-drain resistance of MFSFET and the capacitance of the circuit. The saturated drain current with input pulse number is analogous to the ferroelectric polarization reversal. It indicates that the ferroelectric polarization plays an important role in the drain current control of MFSFET. The output frequency modulation of the adaptive learning circuit is investigated by analyzing the source-drain resistance of MFSFET as functions of input pulse numbers in the adaptive learning circuit and the dimensionality factor of the ferroelectric thin film. From the results, the frequency modulation characteristic of the adaptive learning circuit are confirmed. In other words, adaptive learning characteristics which means a gradual frequency change of output pulse with the progress of input pulse are confirmed. Consequently it is shown that our circuit can be used effectively in the neuron synapses of nueral networks.

The grid voltage of commercial utility power source hi Japan and USA is 100rms, but in China and European countries, it is 200rms. In recent years, In Japan 200Vrms out putted single phase three wire system begins to be used for high power applications. In 100Vrms utility AC power applications and systems, an active voltage clamped quasi-resonant Inverter circuit topology using IGBTs has been effectively used so far for the consumer microwave oven. In this paper, presented is a half bridge type voltage-clamped high-frequency Inverter type AC-DC converter using which is designed for consumer magnetron drive used as the consumer microwave oven in 200V utility AC power system. This zero voltage soft switching Inverter can use the same power rated switching semiconductor devices and three-winding high frequency transformer as those of the active voltage clamped quasi-resonant Inverter using the IGBTs that has already been used for 100V utility AC power source. The operating performances of the voltage source single ended push pull type Inverter are evaluated and discussed for consumer microwave oven. The harmonic line current components In the utility AC power side of the AC-DC power converter operating at ZVSPWM strategy reduced and improved on the basis of sine wave like pulse frequency modulation and sine wave like pulse width modulation for the utility AC voltage source.
A circuit model has been developed to analyze characteristics of the PSII(plasma source ion implantation) pulse system with dynamic plasma load. The plasma sheath in front of the immersed planar target biased with a negative-high voltage pulse is assumed to be governed by the dynamic Child-Langmuir sheath model. Target current is self-consistently varied with the applied voltage by using the voltage-controlled current source in the circuit model. Circuit simulations are conducted with Pspice circuit simulator, and simulated pulse currents and voltages on the target are compared and confirmed with experimental results for various voltage pulses and plasma conditions.

In this study, we have prepared, as the pluse power source, a commercially supplied Li-ion battery with a capacity of 700 mAh and AC resistivity of 60 md at 1 kHz and nonaqeous asymmetric hybrid capacitor composed of an activated carbon cathode and MCMB anode, and have examined the electrochemical characteristics of hybrid capacitor and the pulse performances of parallel connected hybrid capacitor/Li-ion battery source. The nonaqueous asymmetric hybrid capacitors constituted with each stack number of pairs composed of the cathode, the porous separator and the anode electrode were housed in Al-laminated film cell. The 10 stacked hybrid capacitor, which was charged and discharged at a constant current at 0.25 $mA/cm^2$ between 3 and 4.3 V, has exhibited the capacitance of 108F and the lowest equivalent series resistance was 32 $m{\Omega}$ at 1 kHz. On the other hand, the enhanced run time of Li-ion battery assisted by the hybrid capacitor was obtained with increasing of current density and pulse width in Pulse mode. The best improvement, $84\;\%$ for hybrid capacitor/Li-ion battery was obtained in the condition of a 7C-rate pulse (100 msec)/0.5C-rate standby/$10\;\%$ duty cycle.

Because the brightness of an AMOLED is determined by the flowing current, each pixel of AMOLED operates via A current driving method. Therefore, it is necessary to supply power to adjust the amount of current according to THE user's requirement for AMOLED driving. In this study, an IP driver block was designed and a simulation was conducted for an AMOLED display, which supplies power as selected by users. The IP driver design focused on regulating the output power due to the OLED characteristics for the diode electric current according to the voltage to be activated by pulse-skipping mode (PSM) under low loads, and 1.5 MHz pulse-width modulation (PWM) for medium/high loads. The IP driver was designed to eliminate the ringing effects appearing from the dis-continue mode (DCM) of the step-up converter. The ringing effects destroy the power switch within the IC, or increase the EMI to the surrounding elements. The IP driver design minimized this through a ringing killer circuit. Mobile applications were considered to enable true shut-down capability by designing the standby current to fall below $1{\mu}A$ to disable it. The driver proposed in this paper can be applied effectively to the same system as the AMOLED display dual power management circuit.
