자속구속형 고온초전도 전류제한기의 동작전류와 각 코일의 전류분류 분석 (Analysis on Operational Current and Current Distribution between Two Coils of flux-lock Type SFCL)

  • A flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) consists of two coils, which are wound in parallel each other through an iron core, and a high-$T_c$ Superconducting(HTSC) thin film connected in series with coil 2. If the current of the HTSC thin film exceeds its critical current by the fault accident, the resistance of the HTSC thin film generated, and thereby the fault current can be limited by the impedance of the fluk-lock type SFCL. In this paper, we investigated the dependence of both the fault current limiting characteristics and the current distribution between two coils on the operational current of the flux-lock type SFCL through the equivalent circuit analyses and short circuit tests. From the comparison of both the results, the experimental results well agreed with the analyses for equivalent circuit.

  • We investigated the operational characteristics of the hybrid-type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) according to the serial and parallel connections of secondary circuits. The hybrid-type SFCL consists of a transformer, which has a primary winding and several secondary windings with $YBa_2Cu_3O_7$ films connected in series and parallel. In order to increase the capacity of the SFCL, the serial connection between each current limiting unit is necessary. The hybrid-type SFCL with the serial connection in secondary circuits could show superior characteristics than those of the parallel connections in the current limiting and quench time. The resistances generated in the superconducting units were also lowered at the parallel connections. We confirmed that the parallel connection reduced the power burden of each superconducting unit under the same conditions because of the simultaneous quenching between superconducting units.

  • In this paper, we investigated the operational characteristics of the fault current limiting in the The flux-lock type high-Tc superconducting fault current limiter. The flux-lock type high-Tc superconducting fault current limiter was consisted of primary and secondary copper coils that flux was locked on iron core and YBCO thin film. The operational characteristic of a flux-lock type SFCL dependent on winding direction of coil 1 and coil 2, and the number of turns of coil 1 and coil 2, inductances of the coils, saturation in iron core, the properties of superconducting element etc. In this cases, we investigated the fault currents limiting characteristics of the flux-lock type SFCL when winding direction of coil 1 and coil 2 was subtractive polarity winding.

  • We investigated the characteristics of the hybrid-type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) by the number of secondary windings. The SFCL consists of a transformer, which has a primary winding and several secondary windings with serially connected $YB_{a2}Cu_{3}O_{7}$ films. In order to increase the capacity. of the SFCL, the serial connection between each current limiting unit is necessary. Resistive-type SFCL has a difficulty in quenching simultaneously between the units due to slight differences of their critical current densities. The hybrid-type SFCL could achieve the simultaneous quenching through the electrical isolation and the mutual flux linkage among the units. We confirmed that the capacity of the SFCL could be increased effectively through the simultaneous quenching among the units. In addition, the power burden of the system could be reduced by adjusting the number of secondary windings. We will investigate the method to increase the capacity through serial and Parallel connections among current limiting units.

  • The magnetic field generated in the iron core, which is required for the magnetic field to link each coil of the flux-lock type reactor, affects the fault current limiting characteristics of the flux-lock type high-Tc superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL). By applying numerical analysis for equivalent circuit of flux-lock type SFCL, the magnetic field induced in the iron core including currents of each coil was investigated. Through the analysis of magnetic field, we have analyzed that the magnetic field linked the 3rd coil, which is wound in the iron core, prevents the saturation of the iron core, but decreases the impedance of the flux-lock type SFCL.

  • 본 논문에서는 트리거와 리미팅 요소를 갖는 초전도 한류기의 전류제한 특성을 분석하였다. 일반적으로 저항형 초전도한류기는 트리거동작과 리미팅동작이 초전도한류기 자체에서 모두 이루어지게 된다. 초전도 한류기의 구성요소를 트리거동작과 리미팅동작을 수행하는 요소로 분리시켜 보다 효율적으로 고장전류를 감지하고 제한할 수 있음을 등가회로와 모의실험을 통해 확인하였다.

  • Recently a superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) has public attentions for the solution of large fault currents of power systems. Though a SFCL has more effective characteristics than the other current limiting devices, there are many problems to apply it to real power systems. For the analysis of transient fault characteristics of the SFCL, we designed and fabricated a inductive SFCL and tested it in 35V line. The superconducting cable of the SFCL was quenched at lower current(49A) than the designed critical current but it limited the fault current to the lower value(150A) than the one expected without SFCL(250A). And within one period the fault current decreased lower than normal laod current.

  • Development of DC interruption technology is being studied actively for enhanced DC grid reliability and stability. In this study, coil type superconductor DC circuit breaker was proposed as DC interruption. It is integration technology that combined current-limiting technique using superconductor and cut-off technique using mechanical DC circuit breaker. Superconductor was applied to the coil type. In simulation, Mayr arc model was applied to realize the arc characteristic in the mechanical DC circuit breaker. PSCAD/EMTDC had used to model and perform the simulation. To find out the protection range of coil type superconductor DCCB, the working operation have analyzed based on the rated voltage of DCCB. The results confirmed that, according to apply the limiting device, the protection range was increased in twice. Therefore, the probability of failure of interruption has lowered significantly.

개선된 자속구속형 전류제한기의 사고 시점에 따른 사고전류제한 특성 (Characteristics according to the spot at the beginning of the fault current)

  • The Improved flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) is composed of a series transformer and superconducting unit of the YBCO coated conductor. The primary and secondary coils in the transformer were wound in series each other through an iron core and the YBCO coated conductor was connected with secondary coil in parallel. In a normal condition, the flux generated from a primary coil is cancelled out by its structure and the zero resistance of the YBCO thin films. When a fault occurs, the resistance of the YBCO coated conductor was generated and the fault current was limited by the SFCL. In this paper, we investigated the fault current limiting characteristics through the spot at the beginning of the fault current in the Improved flux-lock type SFCL. The experiment results that the fault current limiting characteristics was difference according to the point of a fault current started. Through the analysis, it was shown that shorter the time of a phase transition.
