  • This paper presents study of collection performance according to dropper spacing for catenary Static characteristics analysis, dynamic simulation, stress and wear analysis for different 5 catenary configurations according to dropper spacing are performed. And collection performance for TGV-Nord catenary system is also analyzed in order to compare and evaluate.

Evaluation of the Dynamic Characteristics of the Current Collection System

  • Apar The dynamic characteristics of the current collection system are evaluated during a test run. Signals from accelerometers attached to the pantograph assembly are acquired through a measurement system and analyzed. It is found that the train speed significantly influences the magnitude and frequency characteristics of the pantograph motion. The major frequency components of interest are found to be frequency components originating from the motion of the train along the catenary as well as the several resonance frequencies of the structural vibration of the pantograph. The contact force is also calculated by assuming the pantograph panhead as a rigid structure.

  • The pantograph for Korean High Speed Train was developed and had been evaluating by through 'G7-R&D project' for home grown high speed train technology. In this paper, from the point of view in mechanical aspect, comparison study on the current collection characteristics between the KHST pantograph and contact wire in catenary system on the High-Speed Line and Ho-Nam/Kyoung-Bu conventional lines is conducted. A measuring system for the performance and mechanical characteristics of the KHST pantograph is used for this study, which was developed and installed on the Proto-type Korean High Speed Train, and physical characteristics were measured while the KHST runs on the High-Speed Line and conventional lines. Through this study, remarkable variations of characteristics which can affect to a current collection quality of high-speed train are found and analyzed from measured mean contact forces in both tracks.

  • A data acquisition and signal processing system for evaluating the current collection system is developed, and subsequently applied to the measurement and analysis of the contact force in the current collection system of the proposed Korean High Speed Railway. The measurement of the contact force is based on an algorithm that employs the relationship between the contact force, the strain due to the bending moment and the panhead inertia. For the contact forces in the frequency range of less that 50Hz, the panhead can the modeled as a rigid body in the inertia calculation. For higher frequencies however, the bending vibration modes of the panhead need to be accounted for as well.

  • In this paper, as a conceptual design of the catenary-current collection run tester which is planning to be constructed by KRRI, the feasibility study is described. In this study, reviews to determine the propulsion linear motor rating based on the target distance-speed curve through various simulation of LSM propulsion system were conducted. Moreover, the reviews of simulation results and desirable linear motor specifications are discussed in this paper.

  • A study on Technical Specifications of the current collection system in G7 Korean High Speed Train Project is performed in this paper. First, an appropriate level of contact wire tension for 350km/h commercial operation is proposed based on the foreign high speed train operation experiences and a relevant technical criterion, Second, two optimized design specifications of the pantograph for G7 Korean High Speed Train are proposed based on current collection quality. In order to perform design optimization, a formulation on the follow-up characteristics of a pantograph with 3 levels of masse-spring-damper is derived in this paper. Dynamic design parameters of the pantograph are adjusted to maximize follow-up capability at the dropper and span passing frequencies.

  • The Korean High Speed Train(KHST) had been developed and evaluating on the Kyoung-Bu High Speed Line by through 'G7-R&D project'. In order to evaluate the function and characteristics of high speed train system, various experimental conditions have been considered and conducted. In this paper, current collection characteristics of KHST between pantograph and catenary system and dynamic behaviors are measured and analysed over 300 to 350km/h in running speed of KHST. A measuring system which was developed and installed on the Korean High Speed Train for the performance and mechanical characteristics of the KHST pantograph is used for this trial running test and we proofed that KHST has a remarkable and stable current collection characteristics as it had been designed.

  • This study Investigates the effect of the wave form of pulse energization on the collection characteristics of a wide plate spacing electrostatic precipitator. For the semi-pulse energization, the peak current and voltage of the energization increases with increase of the pulse period, and the corona current increases, as pulse ratio decreases. For the micro-pulse energization, the corona current increases with increase of the pulse voltage. The collection efficiency of semi-pulse and micro-pulse energization is larger than that of DC charge.

  • The dynamic characteristics of the current collection process of the high-speed railway are investigated through signals acquired during a test run. The signals are obtained from accelerometers, load cells, and strain gauges attached to various positions of the pantograph, and they are processed in time-and frequency-domains to obtain the dynamic characteristics. The main natural frequency of the pantograph is found to be 8.5Hz. There also are components at low frequencies varying linearly with the train speed. The contact frequency components above 20Hz is attenuated as they pass through the secondary suspension. The main frequency component of the load cell signal is found to be related with the rolling motion of the panhead generated by the stagger in the catenary.

빔 모델을 이용한 전차선 불균일율에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Elasticity Disuniformity for Catenary using by Beam Model)

  • A catenary system should be designed to be an uniform elasticity over a span in order to maintain the lowest possible loss of contact between a pantograph and a contact wire. A elasticity disuniformity of a catenary can be regarded as a important design factor used for predicting the current collection performance for a catenary. There are a couple of formulas to calculate elasticity disuniformity of a catenary according to the literature survey, The effectiveness of these formulas is reviewed by performing catenary elasticity and loss of contact analysis for 5 different configurations of catenary systems using a beam element based FEM program, KRRI developed program, and the loss of contact by GASENDO, RTRI developed program, respective]y. The results reveals that these formulas are not suitable to predict the current collection performance for a catenary. Therefore, a new formula based on the standard deviation of the elasticity over a span is proposed in this study. The analysis results show that the new formula for an elasticity disuniformity of a catenary is very effective in predicting the current collection performance for a catenary.
