헤르만 헤르츠버거의 문화공간에 나타난 공공성 구현에 관한 연구 (A Study on the implementation of public in Herman Hertzberger's cultural space)

  • Recent studies show that social networking within community is becoming more valuable than individualism, and many discussions of importance of social networking are taking place. In architectural term, the ultimate goal of designing public community space is to increase retention of people. Retention of people, in other words, making people "Stay Longer" is not exactly same as "The purpose of Public Community Space", but it is one of the most effective methods to increase retention of people. An attempt of increasing retention of user through offering public community space suggests a significant change in spatial composition of Herman Hertzberger's cultural space as they are becoming a new social interaction trend. This study aims to analyze architectural progress for the implementation of public of Herman Hertzberger's cultural project. Access. The Characteristics of public community space used in cultural space were extracted and organized into the systemized elements. The systemized elements are comfort, connect, continuity, sphere, transition, and abide. Also, the extracted elements were activated Herman Hertzberger's cultural space and processed the his architectural characteristics.

The Effect of Good Governance on Financial Performance: An Empirical Study on the Siri Culture

  • This study analyzes and assesses the effect of good governance consisting of accountability, transparency, and participation on the financial performance of Pare-Pare City local government moderated by the basic values of Siri culture in the form of Lempu (honesty), Amaccangeng (intelligence), and Awaraningeng (courage). The population of this research is 200 local government employees (respondents). The results of data analysis showed that accountability and participation variables had no significant effect on the financial performance of the Pare-Pare City local government. However, the transparency variable has an influence on local government financial performance. It is hoped that all these 3 variables (accountability, transparency, and participation) will have a significant effect on local government financial performance. To achieve this, it is necessary to apply cultural values that exist in society so that cultural values can provide greater guidance in the management of regional finances. The results provide a better understanding of the importance of Siri's cultural value in the implementation of public services to the community. With Siri's cultural values in the form of Lempu, Amaccangeng, and Awaraningeng embedded in their behavior, government employees can improve performance and avoid deviant behavior or corruption. The novelty of this research is a form of analysis by using local cultural values (the basic values of Siri culture) as the moderating variable.

A Study on the Relative Importance of Structural Elements of the Fashion Convention by Delphi Analysis

  • The Purpose of this study first was to establish the concept based on the existing convention theory, and classifies the types of industrial aspect, and cultural and artistic aspects. Based on it, the relative importance of structural elements of the fashion convention industry is analyzed to fashion conventions in the industrial aspect. The research applies Delphi technique, it is applied to experts in the fashion convention industry in two rounds. Re result is as follows ; First, exhibitions and collection of the fashion convention industry are classified into five groups by examining their main types and main targets. Second, in fabric·material exhibitions, the procedure, personnel and communication have relatively equal importance on the whole although facilities are considered most important. in clothing·fashion exhibitions, the procedure has by far a high level of importance unlike others. Third, comparing the second stage importance, it is shown that the event hall, pubic relations, professionalization of personnel, communication between the promoter and supporting organization are most important with a slight difference by type. Fourth, comparing the third stage importance, it is revealed that ten most important factors are the event location, publicity time, the size·number of event halls customer handling , expertise, publicity media, friendliness, facilities, Publicity Publications, and business competence.

목재 가치 증진을 위한 목재에 대한 인식 및 선호도 조사: II. 목재문화자원에 대한 인식 (Investigation on the Awareness and Preference for Wood to Promote the Value of Wood: II. Awareness of Wood Cultural Resources)

  • 목재문화 활성화 전략을 수립하기 위한 기초연구로써 일반인의 목재문화에 대한 인식정도와 유형별 목재문화자원의 체험현황에 대한 설문조사를 진행하였다. 응답자의 31.4%가 목재문화자원에 대하여 궁궐, 사찰, 한옥, 문화재 등 문화유산의 이미지를 갖고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 목재문화자원에 대한 이미지가 없다는 응답자 중에서 목재문화자원의 개념이 모호하기 때문이라는 응답이 40.2%이었으며, 목재문화자원 자체를 생각해본 적이 없다는 응답이 40.1%이었다. 7가지로 분류된 목재문화자원의 중요도는 문화유산, 목조건축, 문화시설, 문화행사, 목재제품, 문화교육, 문화콘텐츠의 순서로 나타났다. 목재문화자원을 체험하기 위한 정보의 필요성과 충분성에 대한 설문에서 응답자의 46.7%는 다양한 정보가 필요하다고 하였으며, 응답자의 64.8%는 충분한 정보가 제공되지 않는다고 하였다. 향후 1년 이내에 목재문화를 체험하고 싶은 의향은 대부분의 목재문화자원에서 과반 이상의 응답율을 나타냈으나, 실제로 7가지 목재문화자원에 참여하였던 빈도는 일상생활에서 사용되는 목재제품을 제외하면 20% 내외로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 일반인이 목재문화자원을 체험할 수 있는 기회를 확대하고 보다 대중화하기 위해서 다양한 콘텐츠를 개발하고, 일반인에게 홍보할 수 있는 체계적인 전략수립이 요구된다.

도시 고가도로 하부 공간 재생디자인 연구 (Regeneration Design for the Under-space of Overpass in the City)

  • This study aimed at exploring the cultural ways to develope the under-space of overpass in the downtown area which has been considered as a dead, unhealthy place. The study process consists of 4 methodological stages. literature review, case study on environmental design of under-space of overpass, questionnaire and statistical analysis and specific study on regional context were conducted to understand the problems of the space and the needs of the community and visitors. The final suggestion based on the research are the natural rest settings including pocket parks with trees and fountain as well as cultural settings with small sized outdoor gallery and open performance stage which can be managed by the community members. The findings of this study would help the dead space in the center of the city regenerate the community in terms of physical, cultural and social environments. Also, this study will show the importance and the methodological approach of the research for the development of the hidden potential space of the city.

Affective Decision-Making among Preschool Children in Diverse Cultural Contexts

  • The current study examined 3- and 4-year-olds' affective decision-making in a variety of cultural contexts by comparing European Canadian children to Chinese Canadian, Hong Kong Chinese, and mainland Chinese children (N = 245). All children were tested with a delay of gratification task in which children chose between an immediate reward of lower value and a delayed reward of higher value. Results showed that Chinese Canadian and Hong Kong Chinese children chose more delayed rewards than European Canadian children, with mainland Chinese children showing a trend toward more delayed rewards. Across cultures, 4-year-olds chose more delayed rewards than 3-year-olds; and among 4-year-olds, girls made more such choices than boys. The findings are consistent with previous findings that exposure to Chinese culture is associated with better cool executive function, but they also highlight the importance of examining development across diverse cultural contexts.

한국패션문화상품 소비자에 대한 시장세분화와 구매행동연구 - 방한 일본관광객을 중심으로 - (Market Segmentation and Purchase Behavior for Consumers Purchasing Korean Cultural Fashion Items - Focused on Inbound Japanese Tourists -)

  • The purpose of this study was 1) to segment the market of inbound Japanese tourists based on the importance of tour activity that tourists perceived and 2) to examine the behavior of each segmentation purchasing cultural fashion items in Korea. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire survey in Seoul. Clustering analysis, Chisquare, and ANOVA test were used to conduct the data analysis on 288 out of 400 questionnaires. The inbound Japanese tourists market was segmented into 3 groups; culture oriented group, shopping oriented group, and multi-activity group. Three groups were significantly different in terms of age, income, purchase amount, purchase criteria, and degree of shopping satisfaction. Marketing strategies for segmented markets were discussed.

Cultural Aspect of Conflict Behaviour in Construction -A Case Study from Turkey

  • Although much research has been conducted to identify the influence of culture on conflict management and resolution behaviours in organizational settings, no study has been done yet in the construction industry particularly in considering the influence of individual level individualistic and collectivistic values. Despite the key role of self-construal in explaining or predicting behaviour in interpersonal conflict, it has not received enough attention in construction management. Reflecting this necessity, the objective of this exploratory study was to establish, through the application of the Rahim Organizational Inventory (ROC II) instrument, how the cultural values of professionals of construction businesses relate to the application of different conflict-handling styles through self-construal. Data were collected using questionnaire surveys from construction professionals working in contracting firms. The findings illustrate the importance of self-construal type as an individual-level cultural variable in explaining the differences in the style of handling interpersonal conflict in the context of the construction industry.

국내외 관광열차 운영동향에 관한 연구 (A study on the sightseeing train operation trend at home and abroad)

  • With the advent of 21st century, the economic and cultural value of the tourism became more important than ever. And many countries have been aware of the importance of it and trying to promote it. In the railway industry, the sightseeing train is the most crucial element. It can be used as a means of transportation for the tourism or can be the objective of the tourism itself. The sightseeing train can contribute to improve the level of the national leisure life, to fill the cultural gap among the regions, to make foreign exchanges, or to accelerate cultural exchanges among countries. So, I would like to present some guidelines on the development of the sightseeing train through the research on the sorts, the designs and the services of the sightseeing trains operated in Korea or other countries.

Cultural Values, Fashion Involvement and Consumers' Global-Mindedness

  • This study generated a framework to help academicians understand consumers' cultural values and global-mindedness Especially, this study affirmed the importance of fashion involvement in evoking global-mindedness when consumers have strong traditional values. A conceptual model with non-traditional and traditional values as exogenous variables, global-mindedness as endogenous variable and fashion involvement as mediating variable were created for the study. Data from 224 female college students were analyzed for empirical study. Results indicated that college students showed higher level of non-traditional values than traditional values. Non-traditional values had significant direct influence on global-mindedness whereas traditional values did not have significant influence. Traditional values as well as non-traditional had significant influence on fashion involvement. Fashion involvement significantly affected global-mindedness. Both non-traditional values and traditional values had significant positive indirect effects on global-mindedness mediated by fashion involvement.
