The electrical repulsive energy between two model cylinders was calculated by solving nonlinear Poission- Boltzmann (P-B) equation under Derjaguin approximation. Effects of the surface potential, Debye screening length, and configuration of cylinders on the repulsive interaction energy were examined. Due to the anisotropy of the shape of cylinder, the interaction repulsive energy showed dependence to the configuration of particles; cylinders aligned in end-to-end configuration showed largest repulsive energy and crossed particles had lowest interaction energy. The configuration effect is originated from the curvature effect of the interacting surfaces. The curved surfaces showed less repulsive energy than flat surfaces at the same interacting surface area. The configuration dependency of interaction energy agreed with the previous analytical solution obtained under the linearized P-B equation. The approach and results present in this report would be applicable in predicting colloidal behavior of cylindrical particles.

추파밀인 Diplomat이 가지고 있는 흰가루병에 대한 높은 포장저항성의 유전자작용을 검토하기 위하여 이병친인 Caribo와 교배하여 여기서 나온 6세대에 대한 흰가루병의 이병률을 출수개화기와 성숙기에 판독한 결과를 검토한 결과 저항성유전에는 상가적 작용이 크게 영향을 하고 있으며 우성인자효과는 극히 미미하였다. 협의의 유전력은 출수개화기에는 낮았으니 성숙기에 이르러 이병성인 것과 저항성인 것간의 변이가 커짐에 따라 유전력은 크게 증가되었다. 성숙기에까지 저항성을 유지하는 개체를 선발하는 것이 바람직한 것으로 고찰되었다.

Wolbachia는 몇몇 곤충류에 공생하는 세포내 공생세균으로서 수직 감염되며, 숙주의 세포질 불화합성, 단위생식, 자성화 등을 유도한다. 현재까지 알려진 Wolbachia는 비병원성이지만 돌연변이인 popcorn은 숙주인 초파리(Drosophila melanogaster)에 수직 감염되어 성충의 조직괴사와 조기 사망 등의 병원성을 나타낸다. Popcorn에 감염된 초파리는 알과 유충 발육기간이 연장되고, 번데기 기간은 단축되는 경향을 보이며, 성충의 수명이 단축되었다. 또한 비병원성 Wolbachia에 감염된 경우보다 산란율은 15%, 부화율은 80% 수준으로 감소하였고, 용화율은 67%, 우화율은 65%에 불과하였다. Popcorn과 비병원성 Wolbachia간의 교배에서 감염된 초파리는 모두 산란수의 감소와 차세대 부화율, 용화율, 우화율 등의 감소를 초래하였으며, popcorn에 감염된 초파리의 특성을 나타냈다. Wolbachia에 감염되지 않은 초파리와의 교배에서 popcorn 감염 초파리가 수컷인 경우 Wolbachia가 검출되지는 않았다. 따라서 popcorn은 초파리에서 모체 전염되지만, 세포질 분화합성은 유도하지 않으며, 초파리의 초기발육의 지연, 생식의 저하, 성충수명의 단축을 야기하는 등 병원성을 나타냈다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the Cytochrome P450 (CYP2A6) gene as a candidate gene for the traits related with meat fatty acid composition traits in pigs. Porcine CYP2A6 polymorphisms were detected and PCR-RFLP was performed for genotyping of Korean native pig (n=14), Landrace (n=3), Duroc (n=3), Berkshire (n=3), Yorkshire (n=8) and F2 population composed of 202 individuals from an intercross between Korean Native pig and Yorkshire. PCR primer set amplified a 612 bp fragment of CYP2A6 and digestion of the PCR products was performed with the restriction enzymes SchI. The CYP2A6 SchI polymorphism was only found in the KNP breed. The genotype frequencies of TT, TC and CC genotypes were 0.36, 0.56 and 0.08 in the KNP respectively and the other pig breeds were fixed with CC genotype (Duroc, Landrace, Berkshire and Yorkshire). Statistical association between genotypes and fatty acid composition traits were tested in the Korean native pig and Yorkshire crossed F2 pigs. The CYP2A6 SchI polymorphism was associated with only fatty acid composition C20:3n3 level (cis11,14,17-Eicosatrienoic acid, p=0.0252). The 'T' allele was associated with lower C20:3n3 level. Further study is required to validate the genotypic association and biological consequence of the CYP2A6 gene polymorphism in pigs.

The present study focuses on the effect of extension-bending coupling on the elastic stability (buckling) of laminated composite plates. These plates will be loaded under uni-axial or bi-axial in-plane mechanical loads, especially in the orthotropic or anti-symmetric cross-angle cases. The main objective is to find a limit where we can approximate the elastic stability behavior of angularly crossed anti-symmetric plates by the simple behavior of specially orthotropic plates. The contribution of my present study is to predict the explicit effect of extension-flexion coupling on the elastic stability of this type of panel. Critically, a parametric study is carried out, involving the search for the critical buckling load as a function of deformation mode, aspect ratio, plate anisotropy ratio and finally the study of the effect of lamination angle and number of layers on the contribution of extension-flexure coupling in terms of plate buckling stability. We use first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) with a correction factor of 5/6. Simply supported conditions along the four boundaries are adopted where we can develop closed-form analytical solutions obtained by a Navier development.

This research presents a laboratory study about difference of subjective response between with and without pictures. A main source is impulsive sound caused by leisure shooting. The sources are sampled from outdoor noise and their levels range from 40 to 75 dB at the interval of 5dB. The noise unit is based on A-weighted sound exposure level (ASEL; $L_{AE}$). To make equal ASEL of outdoor noise, finite impulse response (FIR) filter is applied to the originally sampled source to include the effect of distance attenuation. The evaluation method of the jury test adopted a Semantic Difference(SD) Method. The intersection point which two lines crossed was used as reference point. The intersecting point of mean response rating between with and without pictures was approximately 44ASEL and that of %HA was about 60ASEL. In the result of the test, the negative effect of pictures was given at a lower levels than intersection point while the positive effect was given at a higher levels than that.

Background and Objectives : Sphincteric function of the larynx, essential to lower airway protection, is most efficiently achieved through strong reflex adduction by both vocal cords. We hypothesize that central facilitation is an essential component of a bilateral adductor reflex and that its disturbance could result in weakened sphincteric closure. Materials and Method : Seven adult 20kg dogs underwent evoked response laryngeal electromyoraphy under 0.5 to 1.0 MAC isoflurane anesthesia. The internal branch of superior laryngeal nerve was stimulated through bipolar platinum-iridium electrodes and recording electrodes were positioned in the ipsilateral and contralateral thyroaryteonoid muscles. Results : Consistent threshold responses were obtained ipsilaterally under all anesthetic levels. However, contralateral reflex responses disappeared as anesthetic levels approached 1.0 MAC. Additionally, at 0.5 MAC, late responses (R2) were detected in one animal. Conclusion : Alteration of central facilitation by deepening anesthesia abolishes the crossed adductor reflex, predisposing to a weakened glottic closure response. Precise understanding of this effect may improve the prevention of aspiration in patients emerging from prolonged sedation or under heavy psychotropic control.

Conventionally, air-cored Rogowski coil was designed for use as high alternating and transient current sensor without saturation caused by ferromagnetic material in its core. This paper investigated that Rogowski coil can be applied to low current measurement in 60Hz power line. Measured parameters R, L of coil were compared with theoretically calculated values. Output voltages crossed by Rogowski coil have shown some linearity according to input current(tens to thousands of amperes) passing through it. And also shielding effect for external noises was investigated for three cases.

A study has been performed to investigate on the dynamic behavior of bridges crossed by the KTX(Korea Train eXpress). The investigated bridge is a 2-span continuous concrete box bridge with spans of 40m length named Yeon-Jae bridge. We have performed many field tests on the dynamic behaviors of a real bridge for KTX using various sensors. For this study, various sensors have been installed on the Yeon-Jae bridge located in the experimental section of the KHSR(Korea High-Speed Railway) track and tests have been performed. Through this study, it is known that effects of local modes and sleepers in the box-girder bridge for the KTX on the dynamic responses is remarkable. Therefore, in the investigation on the accelerations of the box-girder bridge, three dimensional model should be adopted in numerical analysis including the effects of sleepers. The effect of temperature on the accelerations of the bridge should be investigated in the further studies to determine the reason of excessive acceleration.

This investigation is carried out numerically for the two dimensional natural convection and surface radiation heat transfer in a square enclosure. The bottom wall is a constant heat flux at hot temperature and also top wall is isothermal at cold temperature whereas the left and right side walls are adiabatic except a transparent window on the right side partially. The exchange of radiant energy is obtained by the net radiation method and the shape factor by the crossed string method. The change in temperature and Nusselt number distributions of the walls due to the effect of the wall emissivity for various emissivities and for various dimensionless insolation energies are investigated. The dimensionless local convective heat flux and local radiative heat flux distributions in the wall except an adiabatic wall are also compared.
