Sectoral Price Divergence between Korea and Japan

  • This paper examines the persistent properties of 12 sectoral relative prices between Korea and Japan obtained following the Classification of Individual Consumption according to Purpose (COICOP) over the period of 1985-2016. Applying a new econometric method developed by Pesaran which controls for the cross-section dependence in a panel, we are not able to reject the hypothesis that the sectoral real exchange rates contain a common stochastic trend. On the other hand, the well-known panel unit root tests such as the IPS and LLC tests widely used by previous studies strongly reject the unit root hypothesis. Since the error term of the regression for our panel exhibits significant cross-section dependence, these opposite results justify that the use of the new econometric method is appropriate.

아시아 국가들 환경오염배출량의 확률수렴성과 환경쿠즈네츠곡선가설 검정 (The Test of Stochastic Convergence of Environment Emission and Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis in Asian Developing Countries)

  • 본 연구는 1971년~2007년까지 아시아 11개국에 대한 일인당 상대(relative per capita) $CO_2$배출량의 확률적 수렴성(stochastic convergence)을 검정하고 일인당 상대 GDP와의 환경쿠즈네츠곡선(Environmental Kuznets Curve: EKC)가설을 검정하고자 하였다. 본 분석을 위하여 다중의 내생적 구조변화(multiple structural breaks)를 허용하고 횡단면 주체간 의존성(cross-sectional dependence)을 고려하는 Carrion-i-Silvestre et al. (2005)의 패널정상성검정(panel stationarity test)과 Banerjee and Carrion-i-Silvestre (2006)과 Westerlund and Edgerton (2007)의 패널공적분(panel cointegration) 검정 방법 등을 사용하였다. 분석 결과 아시아 국가들에서의 일인당 상대 $CO_2$배출량에서 장기 그룹평균 수준으로 확률적 수렴이 이루어지고 있었고 일인당 상대 GDP와의 사이에 공적분관계가 성립하였지만 EKC 가설의 존재를 발견하지 못하였다. 경제성장 발전에 우선적으로 정책을 집행하고 있는 아시아 국가에서는 오염배출량 감소보다 증가하는 국가들의 영향력이 크게 나타나 EKC 가설이 성립하지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

유수단면 흐름장에서 Shear 효과를 갖는 Stokes Drift의 계산법 (New Method of Computing the Stokes Drift Including Shear Effect in the Cross-Sectional Flow Field)

  • Stokes drift(SD) and Lagrangian discharge(LD) are important factors for analysis of flushing time, tidal exchange, solute transport and pollutant dispersion. The factors should be calculated using the approached method to flow phenomena. The aim of this paper re-examines the previous procedures for computing the SD and LD, and is to propose the new method approached to stratified flow field in the cross-section of coastal region, e.g. Masan Bay. The intensity of velocity near the bottom boundary layer(BBL) depends on the sea-bed irregularity in the coastal estuaries. So we calculated the depth mean velocity(DMV) considering that of BBL omitted in Kjerfve's calculation method. It revealed that BBL effect resulting in application of the bay acts largely on DMV in half more among 1l stations. The new expression of SD and LD per unit width in the cross-section using the developed DMV and proposed decomposition procedure of current were derived as follow : $$Q=u_0+\frac{1}{2}H_1{U_1cos(\varphi_h-\varphi_u)+U_3cos(\varphi_h-\varphi{ud})} LD ED SD$(Q_{skim}+Q_{sk2}) The third term, $Q_{sk2}$, on the right-hand of the equation is showed newly and arise from vertical oscillatory shear. According to the results applied in 3 cross-sections including 11 stations of the bay, the volume difference between proposed and previous SD was founded to be almost 2 times more at some stations. But their mean transport volumes over all stations are 18% less than the previous SD. Among two terms of SD, the flux of second term, $Q_{skim}$, is larger than third term, $Q_{sk2}$, in the main channel of cross-section, so that $Q_{skim}$ has a strong dependence on the tidal pumping, whereas third term is larger than second in the marginal channel. It means that $Q_{sk2}$ has trapping or shear effect more than tidal pumping phenomena. Maximum range of the fluctuation in LD is 40% as compared with the previous equations, but mean range of it is showed 11% at all stations, namely, small change. It mean that two components of SD interact as compensating flow. Therefore, the computation of SD and LD depend on decomposition procedure of velocity component in obtaining the volume transport of temporal and spacial flow through channels. The calculation of SD and LD proposed here can separate the shear effect from the previous SD component, so can be applied to non-uniform flow condition of cross-section, namely, baroclinic flow field.

  • Dependence of radical and ion densities on Plasma Parameters is theoretically investigated in $Cl_2$/Ar plasma discharges. Firstly, a set of reliable rate coefficients is obtained by direct calculations with cross section data set and by comparing them with previously reported values. Then, some global discharge simulations are performed for ICP(inductively coupled plasma) discharges and the results are compared with experimental results. Finally, the validated data set is used to analyze the dependence of radical and ion densities, which are usually not easy to be measured, on electron density arid temperature.

  • Simultaneous CH and OH planar laser induced fluorescence(PLIF) and stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements have been developed to investigate the local flame structure of turbulent premixed flames. The developed simultaneous two radical concentrations and three component velocity measurements on a two-dimensional plane was applied for relatively high Reynolds number turbulent premixed flames in a swirl stabilized combustor. All measurements were conducted for methane-air premixed flames in the corrugated flamelets regime. Strong three-dimensional fluctuation implies that misunderstanding of the flame/turbulent interactions would be caused by the analysis of two-component velocity distribution in a cross section. Furthermore, comparisons of CH-OH PLIF and three-component velocity field show that the burned gases not always have high-speed velocity in relatively high Reynolds number turbulent premixed flame. The Reynolds number dependence of the flame front was clearly captured by the simultaneous CH-OH PLIF and stereoscopic PIV measurements.

A PDMS-Coated Optical Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor for Enhancing Temperature Sensitivity

  • We proposed a poly-dimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-coated fiber Bragg grating (FBG) temperature sensor for enhancing temperature sensitivity. By embedding the bare FBG in a temperature-sensitive elastomeric polymer, the temperature sensitivity of the proposed structure could be effectively improved by 4.2 times higher than those of the conventional bare-type FBG sensors due to the high thermal expansion coefficient of the PDMS. We analyzed the temperature-sensitivity enhancement effect with the increased Bragg wavelength shift in our structure and dependence on the temperature sensitivity with respect to the cross-section area of the PDMS.

  • 입사 이온과 시료 핵과의 개별 산란 방식으로 이온 산란의 몬테칼로 프로그램을 제작하였다. 이 때 시료 원자의 산란 전단면적과 시료 원자들간의 거리는 시료 원자 밀도의 함수로 주어지는 실질적인 크기로 하여 개개의 시료 입자와의 충돌을 계산한다. 이 프로그램을 이용하여 입사 이온에 대한 시료 물질의 스퍼터링의 현상을 입사 이온과 시료와 관련된 변수들의 관계에 대하여 조사하였다. 입사 이온의 질량, 입사 이온의 에너지, 입사각에 따른 스퍼터링 수율과 시료면의 표면 결합에너지에 대한 수율의 변화, 그리고 스퍼터되는 원자의 에너지 분포를 해석하였다.

  • Numerical simulation is one of the most useful tools to study gas discharge phenomena that occur in alternating current plasma display panel (AC-PDP) cell. Most PDP cell simulations have been performed for two-dimensional cell, is cross-section along the address electrode. We developed a three-dimensional PDP simulator and applied it to a T-shaped electrode cell in order to show the effects of sustain electrode shape that cannot be included in two-dimensional simulation. The dependence of power consumption on electrode shape and area in the simulation showed the same trend as experiment.

  • 본 실험에서는 수 MW/$ extrm{cm}^2$ 의 매우 낮은 영역의 세기에서 순수한 GaAs의 bulk에 대하여 실험한 결과 비선형 흡수가 나타남을 관찰 하였으며, 더불어 자유전하 흡수 계수를 여러 가지 세기의 빛에서 측정한 결과 자유전하 흡수 단면적이 빛의 세기에 따라 변화하는 것을 관찰하였다.$^{(1)}$ GaAs의 굴절률이 3.6으로 매우 커서 Fabry-Perot 효과가 나타나므로 시료의 한쪽 면을 SiN로 무반사 코팅을 하여 실험 하였다. GaAs의 표면은 쉽게 레이저 빛에 의해 손상을 입는 것을 고려하여 같은 자리에서 여러 번의 실험을 하여 같은 결과가 나오는 것을 확인하여 실험 결과를 얻었다. 사용된 레이저는 Nd:YAG 레이저로서 1.064 $mu extrm{m}$의 파장에서 7 나노초의 펄스를 방출한다. 빛의 세기는 편광기와 half wave plate를 이용하여 변화 시켰다.
