  • This paper is aimed to develop a very reliable method for automatic inspection of the solder joints on PCBS. There have been lots of previous works using vision technologies, but they can not be used for inspecting BGA, FCA or other newly used devices. Thus we adopt X-ray technologies for solder joint inspection. We put our attention on reconstructing the 3D shapes of solder joints since it gives us the most detailed information on quality of solder joints. Laminography principle is used to reject the interferences from neighboring parts or leads. To verify the effectiveness of laminography, a simulation study is performed in the case of a solder joints on double sided PCB using.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine public level of knowledge and attitudes regarding antibiotic use and potential drug resistance. Methods: A cross-sectional face-to-face survey of 1,177 residents aged 18 or over was conducted in Korea. A quota sampling method was used. Results: Most respondents (70%) did not know that antibiotics are ineffective in treating coughs and colds. Two-thirds of the respondents were unaware of the conditions under which antibiotic resistance occurs, despite understanding the concept of resistance. Lower education level and older age were independently associated with inadequate knowledge. Lower education level, older age, inadequate knowledge and no exposure to the education campaign were independently associated with poor attitude. Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrate that the general public has misunderstandings and a lack of knowledge with regard to antibiotic use, despite a national educational campaign. However, the campaign may have had an effect on the public's attitudes towards antibiotics.

  • Atherosclerosis is a disease that narrows, thickens, hardens, and restructures a blood vessel due to substantial plaque deposit. The geometric models of the considered stenotic blood flow are three different types of constriction of cross-sectional area of blood vessel; 25%, 50%, and 75% of constriction. The computational model with the fluid-structure interaction is introduced to investigate the wall shear stresses, blood flow field and recirculation zone in the stenotic vessels. The velocity profile in a compliant stenotic artery with various constrictions is subjected to prescribed physiologic waveform. The computational simulations were performed, in which the physiological flow through a compliant axisymmetric stenotic blood vessel was solved using commercial software ADINA 8.4 developed by finite element method. We demonstrated comparisons of the wall shear stress with or without the fluid-structure interaction and their velocity profiles under the physiological flow condition in the compliant stenotic artery. The present results enhance our understanding of the hemodynamic characteristics in a compliant stenotic artery.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine gender differences in eating disorders and in several risk factors; body dissatisfaction, perfectionism, self-esteem, and depression. Method: The data were collected from 423 students in grades 5 or 6 (230 male and 193 female) in this cross-sectional study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression were used with the SPSS/PC ver 12.0 program. Results: Girls experienced more symptoms of eating disorders, body dissatisfaction, and depression than boys. There were also gender differences in risk factors. For girls, depression, socially-prescribed perfectionism, and body dissatisfaction were related to eating disorder behaviors, whereas for boys, depression, self-oriented perfectionism, body dissatisfaction, and self-esteem were related to eating disorder behaviors. Conclusions: The results of the present study indicate that risk factors for eating disorders for boys and girls may be different, and these differences have implications for understanding the etiology of eating disorders and should be considered in planning possible nursing interventions.

  • We present the minimum weight optimum design of cross sectional for frame structures subject to natural frequency. The optimum design in this paper employ discrete and continuous design variables and Genetic Algorithms. In this paper, Genetic Algorithms is used in optimization process, and be used the method of Elitism and penalty parameters in order to improved fitness in the reproduction process. For 1-Bay 2-Story frame structure, in examples, continuous and discrete design variables are used, and W-section (No.1~No.64), from AISC, discrete data are used in discrete optimization. In this case, Exhaustive search are used for finding global optimum. Continuous variables are used for 1-Bay 7-Story frame structure. Two typical frame structure optimization examples are employed to demonstrate the availability of Genetic Algorithms for solving minimum weight optimum of frame structures with fundamental and multi frequency.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the effects of lifestyle factors in metabolic syndrome among adolescents. The metabolic syndrome has been reported as a cause of various chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease and diabetes in adolescents. Method: This study is a cross-sectional study on 1,931 adolescents (1,011 boys and 920 girls) aged 12-19 years from the Korean Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2010-2012. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, $x^2$-test, and logistic regression in consideration of strata, cluster, and weight as national data. Result: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in adolescents aged 12-19 years was 4.3% (Boys, 5.4%; Girls, 3.1%). Among lifestyle factors, BMI had significants influences on the metabolic syndrome risk, but other variables did not. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that further research is necessary on the effect of lifestyle factors in metabolic syndrome and that school health nurses should focus on implementation of effective programs for promotion of activity and healthy foods for prevention and intervention of metabolic syndrome.

  • This study analysed determinants of Foreign Direct Investment to ASEAN+ 3 member nations using panel data for which cross-sectional data are combined with time series data. The data for the analysis included the amount of FDI, GDP, and indexes of economic independence. This study collected data from six nations(Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) whose data were easily available, China and Japan from 2003 to 2007 and analysed them. The results are summarized as follows: Using the pooled OLS method, we found Model 2 had the highest explanatory power whose adjusted R-squared was 89.4%, which accounted for about 89% of foreign investment. Using the fixed effect model, Model 2 had the highest explanatory power whose adjusted R-squared was 96.8%, which accounted for about 97% of foreign investment. Using the probability effect model, Model 5 had the highest explanatory power, but in respect to its statistical significance, only GDP was 1% significant and the rest variables had no significance.

  • A sensor modeling via artificial neural network is presented in this paper. The optical sensor has been designed to treasure absolute 3-dimensional positions and orientations of objects in 6-DOF. The method utilizes a triangular pyramidal mirror having an equilateral cross-sectional shape referred as 3-facet mirror. The mirror has three lateral reflective surfaces inclined 45 degrees to its bottom surface. The 3-facet mirror is mounted on the object whose 6-DOF motion is to be measured. As optical components, a He-Ne laser source and three position-sensitive detectors(PSD) are used. The laser beam is emitted from the He-Ne laser source located at the upright position and vertically incident o...

  • This study examines unique manifestations of intergenerational conflict related to the acculturation process of immigrant families. No scale that measured the acculturation aspect of intergenerational conflict exsited. Thus, a new scale was developed to investigate this unique aspect among Korean American adolescents. The study design was cross-sectional, and employed a convenience sampling method. The participants were Korean American adolescents of junior and senior high school age, 14 to18 years old. The study was conducted at eleven Korean churches and one hakwon (private out-of-school studies .institute) in Fairfax County, Virginia. Korean American adolescents expressed that the issues related to education, such as academic pressures and high expectations, caused intergenerational conflict most frequently. Unlike findings from previous studies, the participants indicated that language differences between parents and children rarely caused intergenerational conflict. Contrary to previous findings, none of the characteristics variables, such as age, gender, length of residency and language preference, were significantly correlated with this unique conflict. This study provides a rare opportunity to enhance our understanding on how Korean American adolescents interact with their immigrant parents.

  • An experimental study on material characterization and mechanical properties of SMC(Sheet Molding Compounds) compression method parts was carried out. Simple compression test using grease oil as a lubricant was carried out to characterize flow stress of SMC at elevated temperatures. Two different mold temperatures, $130^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}150^{\circ}C$ and two different mold speeds, 15, 45 mm/min were used for preparing the specimen of SMC compression molded parts. Surface roughness, tensile, and 3-point bending tests were used to determine the effects of molding temperatures and speeds on mechanical properties of compression molded SMC parts. Orientation and distribution of glass fiber in the compression molded SMC parts were also investigated by photographing the burnt flat specimen and taking SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) of cross-sectional T-specimen.
