In the face of an impending demographic cliff, this research delves into geographical disparities in socioeconomic statuses and living arrangements of young single women in rental housing and also to explore influential factors of their residential assessment and housing expenditure. From the Korean Housing Survey of 2020, the cross-sectional study identified 847 unmarried female single-person householders aged between 20 and 39 in four districts - Seoul and Gyeonggi-Incheon Area (GIA) of Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA), and metropolises and non-metropolises of non-SMA. The empirical analyses revealed that regardless of regions, most of the respondents were college-educated, salaried employees in late 20s living in a studio flat, seldom bore debt and barely relied on social services. Renters in SMA, employment rate, income and living expenses were higher than those in non-SMA and they resided in small, old but adequate housing with a separate bedroom. In particular, Seoulites suffered from housing cost overburden but most singles in GIA benefited from the lowest housing burden. While the main determinant of residential assessment was livability, housing satisfaction was additionally affected by old housing and the satisfaction with residential environment was also explained by urban amenities. Despite geographical variations, housing expenditure was primarily driven by income and employment.

The purpose of this paper was to preparation of organic solvent reverse osmosis (OSRO) membrane using a polyketone (PK) support. The PK support was prepared by non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) method, and a polyamide layer was interfacially polymerized on the PK support to fabricate OSRO membrane in the form of thin-film composite (TFC). After that, the surface and cross-sectional morphology of the OSRO membrane were analyzed, and the surface chemical structure of the membrane was analyzed. The water permeance and salt rejection of the OSRO membrane were about 1.28 LMH/bar and 99.0% respectively. The polyamide layer of the OSRO membrane was very stable during 1 day of organic solvent immersion, and the single organic solvent permeance trend was consistent with the organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) membrane permeance model. The MWCO of the OSRO membrane is 240 g/mol in MeOH. The permeance and separation factor of the OSRO membrane for MeOH-toluene mixture were 200% and 60% higher than those of the commercial OSN membranes respectively.

Background: Influenza illness causes several disruptions to the workforce. The absenteeism that often ensues has economic implications for employers. This study aimed to estimate the cost-benefit of influenza vaccination in a healthcare setting from the employer's perspective. Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted in a private hospital in 2018-2019 comparing voluntary vaccinated with non-vaccinated employees with influenza vaccine. The analyses were made based on self-reporting on absenteeism and presenteeism from Influenza-like illnesses (ILIs). The costs incurred, both direct and indirect costs, were included in the study. A cost-benefit analysis was performed by measuring the cost of the vaccination program. The costs of absenteeism and reduced productivity were calculated using 3 hypothesised levels of effectiveness in the following percentage of productivity of 30%, 50%, and 70%. The costs were also calculated based on four scenarios: with and without operating income and with and without replacement. The benefits of the influenza vaccination from the employer's perspective were analysed. The benefit to cost ratio was determined. Results: A total of four hundred and twenty-one respondents participated. The influenza vaccination rate was 63.0%. The rate of ILI of 38.1% was significantly lower among vaccinated. The ILI-related absenteeism reported was also significantly lower amongst vaccinated employees at 30% compared to 70% non-vaccinated. Employers could save up to USD 18.95 per vaccinated employee when only labour cost was included or 54.0% of cost savings. The cost-saving rose to USD 155.56 when the operating income per employee was also included. The benefit to cost ratio confirmed that the net cost-benefit gained from the vaccination was more than the net cost of vaccination. Conclusions: Influenza vaccination for working adults was cost-saving and cost-beneficial when translated into financial investments for the employer. A workplace vaccination demonstrates a significant cost-benefit strategy to be applied in any institutional setting.

This study investigates the effectiveness of Building Information Modeling(BIM) software, specifically SketchUp and Revit, in reducing errors during quantity take-off(QTO) for complex building elements. While 3D modeling offers advantages, existing software may not fully account for manufacturing discrepancies, such as variations in concrete cover thickness and reinforcing bar radius. To address this limitation, this research proposes a BIM-based QTO method for high-insulation wall panels with intricate details. The method utilizes a BIM family library, focusing on key parameters like concrete cover thickness and inner radius of shear reinforcement. A case study compared the cross-sectional details of a wall panel modeled in Revit with the actual manufactured specimen. The analysis revealed a 12% reduction in modeled concrete cover thickness and a 1.27 times larger modeled inner radius of the shear bar compared to the real-world values. The proposed method incorporates these manufacturing variations into the Revit model of the high-insulation wall panel. Software like Navisworks facilitates the identification and correction of any material interferences arising from these adjustments. Furthermore, the method employs a unit wall concept(1m2) to account for the volume of various materials, including insulation and splice sleeves at joints. This allows for the identification of a similar existing family within the BIM library(e.g., "Double RC wall with embedded insulation") that reflects the actual material quantities used in the wall panel. By incorporating these manufacturing-induced variations, the proposed method offers a more accurate QTO process for complex high-insulation wall panels. The "Double RC wall with embedded insulation" family within the Revit program serves as a valuable tool for material quantity estimation in such scenarios.

This research aimed to investigate the relationship between meat quality and muscle-to-fat ratio in specific cuts of pork (pork belly and Boston butt) utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Twenty-eight pigs were selected, and 24 hours post-slaughter, pork belly and Boston butt samples were individually extracted from the left half carcass for MRI assessment. The MRI scans were reviewed using the Picture Archiving and Communications System. Muscle and fat volumes in the pork belly and Boston butt from the cross-sectional images captured by MRI were estimated using Vitrea workstation version 7. Subsequently, these data were processed using Vitrea post-processing software to automatically determine the volumes, measured in milliliters (mL). Additionally, a three-dimensional reconstruction of the organ being studied was generated. The relationship between regions (pork belly and Boston butt) was assessed using Pearson's correlation coefficient, and statistical analysis was conducted using Graph Pad Prism 8. The muscle-to-fat ratio determined by MRI for pork belly was 1 : 0.64, whereas for Boston butt it was 1 : 0.35. Results of comparing the muscle-fat ratio, the correlation coefficient between pork belly and Boston butt was found to be 0.6127 (R2 = 0.3754, p < 0.001) based on MRI analysis. As a result of measuring the muscle-to-fat ratio using MRI as a non-destructive approach, there was a positive correlation between the muscle-to-fat ratios of pork belly and Boston butt.
Objective : This study investigated the prevalence of dysphagia in older adults in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and its impact on Quality of Life (QoL) and educational needs. Methods : A cross-sectional survey was conducted from August 1 to 15, 2023, with 207 cognitively normal older adults from three senior welfare centers. Data included general characteristics, Korean-version of the Eating Assessment Tool (K-EAT-10), Swallowing-QoL, and educational needs related to swallowing disorders. Dysphagia was defined by a K-EAT-10 score of 3 or higher. Participants were divided into normal and risk groups for analysis using chi-square and Independent t-test. Results : The prevalence of dysphagia risk (K-EAT-10 score of 3 or higher) was 41.5% (86 individuals). Among the 92 individuals reporting dysphagia symptoms, 64 (69.6%) were at risk. QoL was significantly lower in the risk group, especially among those living alone or with denture discomfort. The most preferred educational need was training in eating solid foods (Mean = 4.27), with higher needs in the dysphagia risk group. Conclusion : This study underscores the prevalence of dysphagia, its impact on QoL, and the need for educational programs. Emphasizing prevention, public awareness, and early detection, along with the role of dysphagia rehabilitation experts and community collaboration, is essential for supporting healthy aging.
The present study examines the dual mediating role of social support and self-esteem in the relationship between grit and life satisfaction among college students. Utilizing a cross-sectional design, we surveyed a sample of 326 undergraduates from one university in China by means of purposive sampling. The analyses were conducted using SPSS PC+ Win. ver. 25.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro ver. 4.2. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to show the correlations among the variables, and Model 6 of the PROCESS macro for SPSS was used to verify dual mediation effects. First, correlation results indicated positive and significant correlations between grit, social support, self-esteem and life satisfaction. Second, the dual mediating role of social support and self-esteem in the relationship between grit and life satisfaction was proved. This study contributes to the literature by elucidating the psychological mechanisms through which grit operates to enhance life satisfaction. The results have implications for the development of interventions aimed at fostering grit and the enhancement of social support and self-esteem to improve life satisfaction. Suggestions for future studies were discussed in detail.
Generally, an Linear Shaped Charge(LSC) is used for cutting a mechanical structure of various weapon systems. The penetration performance of an LSC is subjected to the type of explosive, the amount of explosive charge per unit length, the type of sheath material, stand-off distance from the target etc. In addition, the non-uniform cross-sectional shape originated from the manufacturing process may affect penetration performance. In this study, in order to analyze the penetration performance of an LSC, Computed Tomography(CT) images of its internal shape were taken and penetration experiments of the LSC were performed on a square metal bar. The experimental results showed that the penetration depths varied depending on the longitudinal position of the LSC, and at some locations, did not meet the required cutting performance. The LSC used in the experiment was manufactured to be able to cut a 4 mm plate, but in the results of the penetration performance experiment, there were many locations where the penetration depth was less than 4 mm. To find this reason, the penetration performance that did not meet the required cutting performance was simulated through AUTODYN based numerical analysis to confirm whether the LSC is cut in the plate. Through numerical analysis, it was confirmed that the penetration performance of an LSC varies depending on the thickness of the incision target due to the distribution of stress.

Purpose: As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to spread rapidly causing approximately 186 million confirmed cases around the world, the urgency to reach herd immunity through vaccination is increasing. However, vaccine safety is a top priority to limit the occurrence of adverse events. Henceforth, this study aims to recognize and perceive COVID-19 vaccine safety in Indonesia during the pandemic. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study and was conducted in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic using an online survey of demographic information and a qualitative questionnaire. Responses were recorded and the association between demographic characteristics from survey questions was tested using chi-square with a risk estimate and 95% confidence interval. Results: A total of 311 participants from 33 out of 34 provinces in Indonesia participated in this study. Recorded responses showed multiple side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine both short-and long-term experienced by the participants. Significant associations were found between demographic factors and COVID-19 vaccine side effects such as female gender with short-term puncture site (odds ratio [OR], 0.463; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.263-0.816) and short-term other reactions (OR, 0.463; 95% CI, 0.263-0.816), domicile outside Java island with long-term puncture site (OR, 4.219; 95% CI, 1.401-12.701) and immune reactions (OR, 3.375; 95% CI, 1.356-8.398), also between married marital status and long-term vagal reaction (OR, 4.655; 95% CI, 1.321-16.409). Conclusion: Gender, domicile and marital status factors were associated with COVID-19 vaccine side effects in Indonesian people.
This study aimed to test a hypothetical model explaining the mediating effect of depression on the relationship between academic burnout and clinical practice stress among nursing students in the post-COVID-19 era. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 200 senior nursing students from two universities in C province, South Korea, from December 1 to 9, 2023. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and structural equation modeling with SPSS/WIN 26.0 and AMOS 26.0. The hypothesized model explained 75.6% of the variance in clinical practice stress among nursing students. Depression did not mediate the relationship between academic burnout and clinical practice stress (β=.06, p=.160). However, both academic burnout (β=.77, p=.004) and depression (β=.23, p=.005) directly affected clinical practice stress. In the post-COVID-19 era, academic burnout significantly influences nursing students' clinical practice stress. While depression does not mediate this relationship, it directly affects clinical practice stress. These findings suggest the need for interventions focusing on reducing academic burnout through mentoring programs and stress management strategies, alongside depression management, to alleviate clinical practice stress among nursing students. Future nursing education should implement an integrated approach to manage students' academic burden and support mental health following clinical practice.
