Shrinkage strains of concrete slab in multi-story building are restrained by structural members such as columns or walls, then can induce cracks due to excessive shrinkage stress over tensile strength of member. In this study, a shrinkage stress analysis method of concrete slab in multi-story building considering not only material properties such as shrinkage, creep and reinforcement effect but also construction sequence is proposed. Tensile stresses of slab due to shrinkage are calculated by converting shrinkage strains into equivalent temperature gradients, creep that can release shrinkage stress can be considered by replacing the modulus of elasticity of concrete, Ec , to the effective secant modulus of elasticity of concrete, E$\_$eff/ Reinforcements are also considered by modeling them as equivalent beam elements in FEM program. Results of step by step analysis reflecting construction sequence summed up to calculate stresses of the whole building considering that shrinkage stresses of the building come from the difference of shrinkage between i-th floor and (i-1)-th floor, named as effecitive shrinkage, and it can be varied by construction sequence. The results of 10-story example building show that shrinkage stresses of lower floors are greater than those of upper floors, that is, stresses of lower floors(1∼2FI.) exceed modulus of rupture of concrete, but stress ratios of higher floors are in the range of 27.9∼92.8%.
A restraint coefficient for creep and dry shrinkage deformation of concrete in a composite section was derived to calculate the residual stress, and an equation for the loss rate of the pre-compression force was proposed. The derived restraint coefficient was computed by using the transformed section properties for the age-adjusted effective modulus of elasticity. The long-term behavior of complicate composite sections could be analyzed easily with the restraint coefficient. The articles of the current design code was examined for PSC and steel composite sections. The dry shrinkage strains of $150 ~ 200$\times$10^{-6}$ for the computations of the statically indeterminate force and the expansion joint could be under-estimated for less restrained sections such as the reinforced concrete. The dry shrinkage strain of $180$\times$10^{-6}$ for the computation of residual stress in the steel composite section was unreasonably less value. The loss rate of 16.3% of the design code for the PSC composite section in this study was conservative for the long-term deformation of the ACI 205 but could not be used safely for that of the Eurocode 2. For pre-compressed concrete slab in the steel composite section, the loss rate of prestressed force with low strength reinforcement was much larger than that with high strength tendon. The loss rate of concrete pre-compression increased, while that of pre-tension decreased due to the restraint of the steel girder.
This paper aims at examining the effects of sustained load and elevated temperature on the time-dependent deformation of a carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets bonded to concrete as well as the pull-off strength of single-lap shear specimens after the sustained loading period using digital images. Elevated temperature during the sustained loading period resulted in increased slip of the CFRP composites, whereas increased curing time of the polymer resin prior to the sustained loading period resulted in reduced slip. Pull-off tests conducted after sustained loading period showed that the presence of sustained load resulted in increased pull-off strength and interfacial fracture energy. This beneficial effect decreased with increased creep duration. Based on analysis of digital images, results on strain distributions and fracture surfaces indicated that stress relaxation of the epoxy occurred in the 30 mm closest to the loaded end of the CFRP composites during sustained loading, which increased the pull-off strength provided the failure locus remained mostly in the concrete. For longer sustained loading duration, the failure mode of concrete-CFRP bond region can change from a cohesive failure in the concrete to an interfacial failure along the concrete/epoxy interface, which diminished part of the strength increase due to the stress relaxation of the adhesive.
This paper presents experimental and analytical studies on long-term behavior of square CFT columns under central axial loading. Two loading cases are considered; (1) the load applied only at the inner concrete of the column and (2) the load applied simultaneously on both the concrete and the steel tube. Four specimens of square CFT columns were tested under the two loading cases, and basic creep test for two concrete specimens was performed to find out the creep properties of the inner concrete. Three-dimensional finite element analysis models were established and verified with the experimental results. The verification shows that the prediction for the long-term behavior of actual square CFT columns is possible from the three dimensional finite element modeling considering the bond behavior between steel tube and inner concrete. Also, experimental results and numerical calculations revealed that the bond stress Induced by the confinement pressure as well as the slip between inner concrete and steel tube were increased with time In the first loading case. However, the confinement by the loading Plate was decreased with time while increasing confinement effect by the steel tube was observed over time. In contrast no confinement effects occur in the second loading case.

In the recent construction industry, an external strengthening method using fiber reinforced polymers has been widely used. Since reinforced concrete structures strengthened with fiber reinforced polymers are always under sustained loads, influence of creep and shrinkage on the structures is inevitable. Due to the creep and shrinkage, behaviors of the structures, such as deflection, deformation, recovery capability, strength and so on are also under the influence of creep and shrinkage. Thus, in order to estimate efficacy, creep recovery and residual strength of FRP strengthened RC beams, long-term flexural experiments and static flexural experiments were carried out. As the result of the experiments, FRP strengthened RC beams were very effective in terms of deflection control. Furthermore, the strengthened beams had higher immediate deformation recovery than immediate deformation. Through the static flexural experiments, it was shown that the CFRP strengthened beam had high residual strength. It seems that the sustained loads did not affect bond and residual strength of the beams.
Since Modern bridges have a tendency to make the spans continuous and longer, the effect of concrete shrinkage and creep is very important and must be evaluated appropriately for the durability and safety of steel-concrete composite bridges. However, highway design specification in current use prescribes $180^{1\;2}$ as the final shrinkage strain. which is for less value than one resulted from many experimental researches and cause some problems in the construction of composite bridges due to the understimation of shrinkage strain. Thus, in this paper nonlinear analysis with time-steps applying the CEB-FIP(90) provision have been conducted for plate girder bridge, box girder bridge and Preflex beam bridge and the linear equivalent shrinkage strain for the design of composite bridges. which produces the stress equal to the values from the nonlinear analysis, has been calculated by comparing the results with the values following highway design specification. The results yield appropriately double values than $180^{1\;2}$ which highway design specification prescribes.

As the lifespan of concrete structures increases, their load carrying capacity decreases owing to cyclic loads and long-term effects such as creep and shrinkage. For these reasons, there is a necessity for stress state monitoring of concrete members. Particularly, it is necessary to evaluate the concrete structures for behavioral changes by using a technique that can overcome the measuring limitations of usual ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation methods. This paper proposes the use of a nonlinear ultrasonic method, namely, nonlinear resonant ultrasonic spectroscopy (NRUS) for the measurement of nonlinearity parameters for stress monitoring. An experiment compared the use of NRUS method and a linear ultrasonic method, namely, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) to study the effects of continuously increasing loads and cyclic loads on the nonlinearity parameter. Both NRUS and UPV methods found a similar direct relationship between load level and that parameter. The NRUS method showed a higher sensitivity to micro-structural changes of concrete than UPV method. Thus, the experiment confirms the possibility of using the nonlinear ultrasonic method for stress state monitoring of concrete members.

The massive structures are not free to move with vibration, differential settlement, thermal stresses because, construction and expansion joint, crack etc., can be large enough to cause leakage as deformation of waterproofing. It has been depended on the test method of tensile/tear strength which is waterproofing performance as behavior of concrete structure crack. However, not to practically confirm the creep applied to concrete surface, even waterproofing membrane have more performance than definite strength and elasticity. Therefore, in this study will focus on the test method to consider a resistance performance about loose adhesion and deformation of waterproofing and behavior of concrete structure as construction/expansion joint, crack. Performance test method on the influence as behavior of concrete structure crack is to choose waterproofing materials and construction method which possible to confront with behavior of 50mm crack in the atmosphere and low temperature. Examine the deformation of waterproofing membrane and loose adhesion which can occur to structure in general job site, suggest standard testing method to analyze correlation waterproofing membrane and structure with 5-types of materials used in this study, such as Adhesion membrane and sheet complex, sheet and urethane complex, self-adhesive sheet, spray poly-urea, spray membrane of rubberized Asphalt.

A numerical procedure is developed to analyze the time-dependent deflections of prestressed concrete bridges constructed by the segmental cantilever method. The developed computer program accounts for the time-dependent properties of prestressed concrete materials due to the varying modulus of elasticity, creep and shrinkage of concrete and the stress relaxation of prestressing steel. It also accounts for the stiffness increase due to the presence of the steel reinforcements and the effects of the shear deformation of the prestressed concrete bridge girders. The program is applied to a multi-span continuous segmental prestressed concrete bridge to demonstrate its capabilities and to explore the behavior characteristics of the segmental bridges.

In this paper, an actual behavior of the pylon of Seohae Grand Bridge which is a cable stayed bridge and has been constructed 4 years ago was analyzed by using data acquisition system. As a result, the pylon of cable stayed bridge behaved normally with respect to the change of temperature. The annual displacement of the top of pylon(PY1) ranged from -71.4mm to +181.7mm in the longitudinal direction of the bridge. In the case of the longitudinal displacement, the displacement of PY1 was bigger than that of PY2 because PY1 is movable and PY2 is fixed in terms of the constraint condition of super structure. For the long term, PY1 will be sloped gently to the direction of Dangjin and PY2 will be also sloped gently to the direction of Pyongtaek by the effect of creep and shrinkage in the case of the longitudinal direction. The result of structural analysis showed good agreement with the result mentioned above.
