디지털 건축에 나타난 디자인 프로세스의 특성 (Characteristics of Design Process on the Digital Architecture)

  • Digital media was realized by two-dimensional design backup. But, digital medium decides form of architecture, and act as a design tool that can expand area of thinking. With such social change, investigate for digital architecture. And, wish to analyze design process of digital architecture and search the characteristics. Through comparison of digital and analogue, clear up that the digital world had complex and ambivalent attribute. Define digital design process as "Digital continuum" with characteristic of digital architecture and divided in 3-steps of concept - development - representation. Analyzed digital design process of Frank O, Ghery, Peter Eisenman and Greg Lynn on th assumption division. As a result, design concept is starting from three-dimensional thinking instead of existent two-dimensional thinking. And because general work of process was gone by digital media, "mass costomization" was possible. Also, it gave architect new role. Differ with former days, select various variables, should tuning and cording, and emphasize role as coordinator who must select the result. Digital is summoning very radical and epoch-making change in architecture. At center of these change, digital design process asks architect complex thinking and creative concept.

  • 직조는 예술과 기술과의 상호 관계에 관심을 가지고 있는 디자이너에게 이상적인 연구 대상이다. 특히, 이중적인 4종광 이상의 제제에서 만들 수 있는 두 겹 직물로서 여러 가지 목적 및 기능에 따라 광폭 직물, 양면 무늬 직물, 등 특수 직물을 생산하기 위해 산업에서 사용되고 있다. 그러나 가 지니고 있는 매력적인 특징은 미적 이 요구되는 섬유 작업에서 의견로서 다양하게 응용되어질 수 있다. 본 논문은 문헌 자료와 sample 제작을 통해 이중 직의 개념과 종류 및 특징을 설명하였으며 이중 직을 연구한 작가들의 대표적 작품들을 분석함으로써 기법이 가지고 있는 잠재적 특성을 강조하였다. 이중 직 기법은 구조 및 의견 에 따라 다양한 이미지를 나타낼 수 있으므로 직조가 들이 기술에 의한 독특한 표현을 하여 시킬 수 있는 창조 적을 제시하고 있다.

영화 <클레오파트라> 이미지의 패션디자인 연구 (A Study on Fashion Design and Image of the Movie )

  • The purpose of this study is to fashion-design the image of Cleopatra on the basis of Cleopatra's characteristic, clothing and its symbolic meaning shown in movie . In movie , Cleopatra(69B.C-30B.C) is described as passionate, intelligent, dignified person and even as enchantress. Costume that Cleopatra wears compound the type of ancient Egyptian costume in New Kingdom, the change of it, and the trend in the 1960's. Their color and pattern also symbolizes religion by adding ancient Egyptian myths to show the absolute royal authority. Therefore, design concepts, determined on the base of Cleopatra's characteristic and symbol meaning, are applied to make creative costume with Cleopatra's image of God Isis. In order to show Cleopatra's dignity, confidence, territorial ambition, black is used as a general base color. To represend Cleopatra's passion and the image of Isis, red is used. And the word 'Kemeto' represents all these symbols. As a whole, dress named 'Kemeto of Cleopatra' is designed and created.

애리조나 주의 F. L. Wright 주택작품 디자인 특성 분석 (A Study on the Analysis of Design Characteristic of Works of Frank Lloyd Wright in Arizona State)

  • The purpose of this study is to study how F.L. Wright reflected the climatic properties and materials of the region into creative ways of designing his architecture. The research method examined the design methods and use of materials by Wright in existing research literature and compares the space plans of housing works in Arizona. The research results will be summarized as follows : 1) For two-story houses, pilotis was used to avoid the hot air and the walls on the ground floor were often planned as thick wall. 2) In the fifties, F.L. Wright's design method changed in a circle from the vertical and horizontal lines. 3) F.L.Wright's Architectural form concepts and design concepts were extracted from local symbolic forms and natural forms. 4) F.L.Wright avoided Arizona's direct light but Indirect sunlight enters into the interior space. 5)External space was expressed as a closed space, while internal space was expressed as an open space. It's like an organic space. 6) Most of the housing materials used are stone and cement from rough deserts, and wood with low heat conductivity and thick concrete blocks to prevent the sunlight from rising above.

현대건축에서 구조와 표피 일체화 유형의 건축적 표현특성 - 2000년 이후 건축 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on Architectural Expressive Characteristic of 'Structure & Skin Integration' Type in Contemporary Architecture - Focused on the Architecture cases after 2000 -)

  • This study tries to categorize trends of "structure and skin integration" and understand the expressive characters of each architectural type. To do so, we listed up 8 architects who are quoted twice or more in related researches, then analyzed their 25 contemporary buildings which integrated structure and skin since 2000. As a result, this study defined four types based on the way of building tectonic system of structure and skin. Key feature of "linear structure-two dimensional skin" type is the communication with the surroundings as a result of .geometric architectural forms, patterned surface and reflection. Characters of "linear-three dimensional" type are organic architectural forms, sculptural skin, and the mysterious space. "Planar-two dimensional" type is a transformational geometry form to express the dramatic images through the skin, therefore gives a sense of rhythm and dynamics to space. "Planar structure-three dimensional" type highlights the texture, and exposes boundary of the inside and outside. In architectures we studied, the structure is the way to make a creative forms and space, and the skin to express various meanings. That said, the "structure and skin integration" is the means of aggressive design expression.

한국 전통 문양을 이용한 퀼트 디자인 연구 (A Study on Application of Korean Traditional Patterns to the Quilt Design)

  • The present study deals with developing a new modem design of quilt which is characteristic of Korean traditional patterns. The goal of this study is to make some samples of the pattern as a basic motive of quilt work by using some Korean traditional patterns that could be found in roof tiles, windows, Neung-Hwa (a kind of wood cut for printing book covers), and others. This study examines the concept of quilts, their historical background, and their characteristics. This study also examines traditional patterns that are applicable to the patchy work of quilt, discussing the characteristic of both the Korean patterns and Nubi (Korean traditional quilt). In the process of pattern development, the original patterns were simplified and transformed to apply them to the modem quilt pattern. Fabrics (100% cotton) of similar colors were used to emphasize quilting lines. This study has found followings; 1) The geometric pattern usually consists of dots, lines, and faces. These patterns are suitable for pieced quilts. 2) The curvilinear pattern found in roof tiles or Yi-Dynasty coins, can be easily re-expressed by the applique technique. Combinations of fabrics and motive compositions can express quilts in realistic and creative ways. 3) Addition of Korean traditional quilt techniques, such as parallel lines or swastika stitches, to the traditional object-derived quilt patterns led to the creation of images close to the already existing Korean quilt, Nubi.

'도시 안의 도시(city in the city)'에 나타난 콜하스의 건축과 도시론의 성격에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of Architecture and Urbanism of Koolhaas in 'city in the city')

  • Koolhaas' perspective on urbanism differs from the modern urbanism and typological urbanism. The Melun-Senart masterplan, La $D{\acute{e}}fense$ masterplan shows unique characteristic different from that of conventional urbanism. The roots of this creative approach can be found in the traits of his research with O.M. Ungers back in the 1970s. Koolhaas and Ungers have collaborated intimately from 1972 to 1977 to work on urban projects. This collaboration reaches its cilmax in their project City in the City, where many of Koolhaas' core concepts such as archipelago, void/solid, plurality, infrastructure, congestion, and social condenser are introduced. This thesis will explore the development of these concepts in their collaboration and shed new light on how this period has made a transition into Koolhaas' perspective on urbanism and architecture as well as his works. The purpose of this study is to investigate these core concepts of Koolhaas in City in the City, and to find the development and the meaning of these concepts in his projects.

과학기술특성화대학(KAIST)을 중심으로한 R&E 집중연구가 과학고등학교 학생에게 미치는 영향 (Effects of Science high school students' Competency through Intensive Research and Education Program in KAIST)

  • R&E 프로그램은 연구 중심의 자기주도적 학습을 통하여 과학영재들이 과학적 탐구능력과 창의적인 문제해결 능력을 신장시킬 수 있도록 하며, 관심 분야 전문가와의 긴밀한 만남과 과학탐구 경험을 통해 과학자로서의 연구 태도와 품성 및 자질을 함양하고, 창의성을 계발하도록 하는 것에 목적이 있다. R&E 프로그램의 교육적 효과로 미래과학기술 인력의 질적 향상뿐만 아니라 과학자들의 교육참여를 유도함으로써 교육 인력의 저변 확대를 통한 과학영재 교육의 질적 내실화를 도모할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 R&E 프로그램이 미래 과학기술인력으로써 필요한 창의인재역량과 첨단과학기술 분야 진로 지향성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 KAIST 과학영재교육연구원의 R&E 프로그램에 참여한 D과학고등학교 1학년 학생 62명을 대상으로 집중연구 사전, 사후에 걸쳐 창의인재역량과 과학진로지향의 변화를 설문을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과 학생들은 R&E 프로그램 참여 후 창의인재역량 중 인지적, 정의적 특성이 유의미하게 증가하였고, 사회적 특성에서는 유의한 변화가 없었으나 세부영역에서는 유의미한 증가를 확인하였다. 또한, 과학진로지향과 관련하여 과학학습, 과학진로에 대한 선호도, 과학진로에 대한 가치 인식 및 과학진로 정보의 필요성 항목에서 유의미한 변화가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 R&E 프로그램의 교육적 효과를 보여줌으로써 대상과 지도목표에 따른 R&E 프로그램 모델의 개선방안을 제안하고자 하며, 나아가 연구역량 교육 및 과학진로진학을 지도하는데 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 이 글은 오늘날의 시각 중심 시대에 문학이 요동하는 주요인의 하나로 영상 미디어-테크놀로지에 의한 '몸'의 부상을 꼽고, 그에 따라 '문학미디어'로서의 몸 -몸의 문학적 현상과 기능- 을 연구하는 연속적 연구의 두 번째이다. 필자는 연구의 구체적 역사적 이론적 지평을 확보하기 위해 판소리와 발레의 대비 연구에 먼저 착안했었다. 그 과정에서 한국 고전 서사에 기반을 둔 한국 창작발레가 글로컬 문화 콘텐츠로서 조명되었으며, 한국발레의 진정한 개성과 정체성을 획득하기 위해서는 한국 고유의 리듬과 선율이 원용될 필요성이 제기됐었다{이상 '왜 춘향은 춤을 추는가(I)'}. 그것은 곧 판소리의 장단과 창으로서, 이 글에서는 그 주장을 강화 및 공식화하기 위해 구체적인 논거들을 보완하는 한편, 판소리가 실제로 사용된 한국 창작발레의 사례를 제시하면서 앞으로 장단과 창이 어떻게 적절하게 원용됨으로써 한국창작발레의 향상이 이뤄질 수 있는가를 거시적으로 가늠해보고자 하였다. 현재까지는 한국 창작발레에서 판소리가 일종의 시각적 효과 -이색적인 요소로서 단지 뵈어지고 들려지는 것- 를 주로 거뒀다고 할 수 있었다. 따라서 그것을 넘어서 동작과 안무에 작용하는 판소리의 필요성이 제기되었으며 부분적 적용에서 정제되어 전반으로 확장되는 방안이 모색되었다.

프라이 오토(Frei Otto)의 건축에 나타난 생태학적 공간특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Charactertics of Ecological Architectural Space of Frei Otto)

  • In the process of modermization the problem of environment destruction has become a worldwide issue. And now this problem is a concern for all branches of science, including that of architectural desigv. This thesis tries to find the meaning of ecological architectural space, one that encreases the organic relationship, and communication, between architectrual space and urban environmental space, between human beings and architecture, and between human beings and their environment. As an example, we will take a look at the architectural space-design of Frei Otto, who offers diverse creative ecological architectural forms. His concept of architecture has the critical character when compared with the traditionan conventional concept of architecture. The ecological characteristics of his architectural spacedesign can be summarized as follows: The first characteristic is his ample use of natural objects in the architectural structure. An ample use of living things like trees and plants as well as of inanimate thing like water, wind as architectural elements enhances the functional efficiency of architecture. The second characteristic is its ecological architectural system, which saves energy faciliates ventilation by changing the position and direction of the building, by systematically applying the materials, and by efficiently arranging the inner space. The third characteristic is the dematerialization of architecture and the use of materials that are economical and appropriate for the circulation system of nature. The use of natural elements and recycling natural objects, makes it possible to reuse materials of the destroyed building. In short, the ecological architecture of Frei Otto, which shows the relation between human beings and architecture, presents diverse possibilities of the archtectural space as a complex natural system, which is more than a simple combination of separatge elements.
