  • In this work, the structural response of thin-walled composite beams with pretwist angle is investigated by using a mixed beam approach that combines the stiffness and flexibility methods in a unified manner. The Reissner's semi-complimentary energy functional is used to derive the stiffness matrix that approximates the beam in an Euler-Bernoulli level for extension and bending and Vlasov level for torsion. The bending and torsion-related warpings induced by the pretwist effects are derived in a closed form. The developed theory is validated with available literature and detailed finite element structural analysis results using the MSC/NASTRAN. Pretwisted composite beams with rectangular solid and thin-walled box sections are illustrated to validate the current approach. Acceptable correlation has been achieved for cases considered in this study. The effects of pretwist and fiber orientation angles on the static behavior of pretwisted composite beams are also studied.

  • We introduce a Heaviside-function formulation of the interaction between incompressible two-phase fluid and a non-deformable solid. Fluid and solid interact in two ways : fluid satises the Dirichlet boundary condition imposed by the velocity field of solid, and solid is accelerated by the surface traction exerted by fluid. The two-way couplings are formulated by the Heaviside function to the interface between solid and fluid. The cumbersome treatment of interface is taken care of by the Heaviside function, and the interaction is discretized in a simple manner. The discretization results in a stable and accurate projection method.

  • In rotating machinery, unbalance and misalignment are major concerns in vibration. Unbalance can be eliminated by balancing procedure to some degree. but little work has been done on the vibrations that occur in a misaligned rotor system. Currently, no generalized theoretical model based on a rotor system with flexible coupling is available to describe the vibrations caused by misalignment. As a part of systematic investigation on the misalignment, first of all, the study on flexible coupling with misalignment should be preceded. In this study, the geometry and reaction force and moment of a gear coupling with misalignment was investigated, also the theoretical model of a gear coupling with misalignment was presented by using the relationship between geometry and moment of gear coupling. It is expected that the proposed procedure can be applied to derive the theoretical model of other couplings.

  • The present works are the experimental results of the study to develope a damping flexible coupling which has a high performance of control for the torsional vibrations of power shafts in a large machinery. The damping flexible coupling is manufactured and is compared for dynamic characteristics with other type coupling which is the Geislinger coupling. The static coefficient of stiffness and the damping coefficient allows the control of excitation frequency through a cam driver. The experimental results obtained from the two couplings are compared with the theoretically results.

  • The purpose of this research is to construct the experimental test set-ups and establish a series of performance test program for the domestically developed fluid couplings, and to provide a software to store and utilize these experimental data which can be used to improve the performance of the fluid coupling and solve on the job problems confronted in operation. The performance test consists of taking measurement of torque rpm and efficiency of the fluid coupling for three different amount of working fluid inside with various loads to the output shaft and finally investigating the torque rpm and efficiency characteristics of the fluid coupling with respect to these parameters. The results of this study can contribute valuable references tot the development of variable speed fluid coupling and torque converter currently pursued by the domestic industry.

  • In many industrial applicatiosns such as machine tools and automation equipments the control performance of the feed-drive systems as positioning devices of the tools and workpieces have great influences on the quality of related machines. For many electrically driven mechanical feed systems resilient couplings between motors and mechanical elements which mostly consist of elasttic shafts and gears often are unavoidable. Commonly these systems can be regarded as an elastic multi-mass systems can be regarded as an elastic multi-mass system which is dealt with this contribution. S high performance speed or position control can only be achieved with the considering of the mechanical elastic characteristics of the system. n this paper some practic characteristics of the system In this paper some practical information is given about experience in modeling design simulation and experiments for linear elastic multi-mass system,

  • A more extensive theoretical analysis for a ferrite filled electromagnetic delay line of two coaxial anisotropic conducting cylinders was made and improvements of the delay line n=0 mode operation was achieved by separating effective sections using short-circuited coils to eliminate unnecessary couplings among windings of different phase. Time delay of order of 10 microseconds per meter in video frequency range was observed from 3"/8 diameter 6" long delay line tilled with ferrite material. Design formula was presented with illustrative discussions to help design for practical purposes. purposes.

  • In this paper, we design tripel-mode channel filter using iris optimization technique and investigate its response. The cavity diameter is determined to resonate three orthogonal modes coincidently and inter-cavity iris is optimized in which one slot control one TE-TE mode and other TM-TM mode couplings simultaneously. Since the electric/magnectic field is variable due to slot position, the center position of the slot which handle coupling coefficients of two modes should be designe dwith optimizatin technique presented here. The implemented triple-mode filter in this paper saves its mass and volume upto 33% relating to the dual-mode filter, caused by the reduced number of cavities.

  • $^1H$ and $^{13}C$ NMR spectra of series of (E)-1-aryl-(2- and 3-thienyl)-2-propenones, that are aldol condensation products between 2- and 3-thiophenecarbaldehydes and m- and p-substituted acetophenones, were examined to make complete assignments of the chemical shifts. Long range couplings, $^4J$ and $^5J$, are observed in the $^1H-^1H$ COSY of both 2- and 3-thienyl compounds, which makes the elucidation of the conformation in solution possible. In contrast, the 2-furyl analogue shows the long range coupling phenomena, but the 3-furyl and phenyl analogues do not show similar phenomena.

  • Using the projection operator technique, a reduced density matrix theory for linear absorption spectrum of energy transfer systems is developed for the theoretical absorption line shape of the systems with non-Condon transitions. As an application, we considered a model system of OH vibrations of water. In the present model calculation, the OH vibration modes are coupled to each other via intra-molecular coupling mechanism while their intermolecular couplings are turned off. The time-correlation functions appearing in the formulation are calculated from a mixed quantum/classical mechanics method. The present theory is successful in reproducing the exact absorption line shape. Also the present theory was improved from an existing approximate theory, time-averaged approximation approach.
