초전도 코일을 적용한 WPT 특성 (Characteristics of Wireless Power Transmission applying the superconducting coil)

  • Interest in Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) technology has been increasing worldwide recently. This trend is proved by commercialized products such as electric toothbrush, wireless razor, and wireless charger for mobile phone battery. Studies for enhancing the applicability of the technology have been continuously conducted. Currently the WPT technology is based on the technologies using microwave, inductively coupling, and magnetic resonance. In the meantime, development of the microwave-based WPT faces difficulty due to health hazards involved in the technology, and application of the WPT technology using inductively coupling is restricted by area due to the problem of transmission length. In comparison, the WPT technology using magnetic resonance draws attention in terms of efficiency and transmission length. In this study, the sending coil based on the WPT technology using magnetic resonance system was replaced with an HTS coil to enhance transmission efficiency. Since the HTS coil has a zero resistance, power transmission loss can be minimized. At the same time, size of the current density could be increased to 100 times or more than typical coils. In addition, through impedance matching of LC device, maximal resonance properties were induced and consequently, frequency selection quality characteristics or Q was enhanced. As a result, the WPT type using the HTS coil showed a longer transmission length and better transmission efficiency compared with the WPT type using typical coils.

Mud handling system 내 cyclone separator의 집진효율 추정을 위한 공기-분체의 CFD 시뮬레이션 (CFD Simulation of Air-particle Flow for Predicting the Collection Efficiency of a Cyclone Separator in Mud Handling System)

  • Drilling mud was used once in the step of separating the gas and powder they were transported to a surge tank. At that time, the fine powder, such as dust that is not separated from the gas, is included in the gas that was separated from the mud. The fine particles of the powder are collected to increase the density of the powder and prevent air pollution. To remove particles from air or another gas, a cyclone-type separator generally can be used with the principles of vortex separation without using a filter system. In this study, we conducted numerical simulations of air-particle flow consisting of two components in a cyclone separator in a mud handling system to investigate the characteristics of turbulent vortical flow and to evaluate the collection efficiency using the commercial software, STAR-CCM+. First, the single-phase air flow was simulated and validated through the comparison with experiments (Boysan et al., 1983) and other CFD simulation results (Slack et al., 2000). Then, based on one-way coupling simulation for air and powder particles, the multi-phase flow was simulated, and the collection efficiency for various sizes of particles was compared with the experimental and theoretical results.

  • Inductive power transfer module(IPTM) is a contact-less power supply device and its application range has been extended to the large capacity devices such as electric vehicles, industrial mover and railway system as well as small capacity devices such as electric toothbrush charger, celluar phone charger, and so on. For railway application, the IPTM will transfer energy while train stops at a station for around 30[sec]. Therefore, equivalent circuit parameters and coupling coefficient of IPTM are an important design factor for the high energy transfer efficiency. This paper investigates the properties of equivalent circuit parameters and coupling coefficient of U-U type IPTM and U-I type IPTM using an analytical method and experimental method. Considering the coupling coefficient of the U-U type is larger than U-I type's, the U-U type is suitable for an application which need maximum power transfer and high efficiency.

  • 저밀도 파장분할다중화 기술을 광 집적 소자에 효율적으로 활용하기 위하여 광섬유와 평면기판 내 광 도파로 사이의 파장 선택적 광 결합기 구조가 효율적인 수단으로 고려될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 공기 도랑 격자를 지닌 실리콘 도파로와 단일 모드 광섬유 간 결합을 고려하였다. 격자의 깊이에 따른 결합 효율의 경향성과 그 한계점을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 결합 모드 이론에 기반을 둔 모델링을 통하여 설계된 결합기 구조의 결합효율을 예측하고, 유한요소법을 이용한 시뮬레이션 결과와 정량적으로 비교 분석 하였다.

  • Porous anodic alumina(PAA) which has arrays of nano size holes, was incorporated into organic light emitting devices. Porous anodic alumina on glass scattered the light generated from emitting layer and was decreased the waveguiding modes within the glass. An increase in the device coupling-out factor for the scattering structure is demonstrated.

  • Modal transmission-line is utilized to analyze the power coupling of optical directional coupler composed by two parallel guiding slabs. By defining a coupling efficiency .eta. amenable to rigorous supermodes and boundary conditions of modal functions, we evaluate the power transfer for TE mode of gainy coupler. The results reveal that optimized power exchange occurs at a novel wavelength .lambda.$_{op}$ , which is generally different from minimum gap .lambda.$_{min}$ between rigorous modes and phase-matching condition .lambda.$_{ph}$ .

  • Using modal transmission-line theory (MTLT), we evaluate the power coupling of optical directional coupler composed by two parallel guiding slabs. The numerical results reveal that maximum power transfer occurs at a novel wavelength λ$_{opt}$, in which the excitation ratio of supermodes at input boundary is equal to each other, and it is generally different from minimum gap λ$_{min}$.in/.

  • The coupling properties of supermodes guided by grating-assisted directional couplers (GADCs) can be phrased in rigorous modal theory. Such a modal solution for TE modes expressed by simple electrical transmission-line networks is utilized to analyze the power distribution of GADCS with three guiding channels. In particular, the modal transmission-line theory can serve as a template for computational algorithms that systematically evaluate the coupling efficiency that are not readily obtained by other methods.

  • Newly developed modal transmission-line theory(MTLT) is used to analyze rigorously the optical power distribution in grating-assisted directional couplers(GADCs) with three guiding channels. By defining a novel coupling efficiency ${\eta}$ amenable to the rigorous analytical solutions of modal transmission-line theory, we explicitly evaluate the power coupling and distribution of TM modes. The results reveal that the incident power is sensitively partitioned through three output channels in terms of such grating parameters as the grating period, the duty cycle, and the operating wavelength.

중간 결합층이 적층된 측면연마 광섬유 결합기의 해석 및 결합효율 개선 (Analysis of side-polished fiber couplers with an intermediate-coupling layer and improvement of their coupling efficiency)

  • 상부 도파로와 중간 결합층이 적층된 단일모드 광섬유를 기본구조로 하는 측면 연마 광섬유 결합기를 상호 광 결합이 일어나는 영역을 다층막 도파로로 등가화하여 결합 효율을 해석하였다. 다층막 구조에서 중간 결합층의 유무에 따른 반사도를 계산하여 상부 도파로의 굴절률의 함수로 도시하였고, 상부 도파로의 굴절률이 광섬유 코어의 굴절률보다 클 경우 중간 결합층의 조건에 의해서 광 결합이 증가되어짐을 보였다. 리튬나오베이트를 상부 도파로로 가지는 결합기의 실험결과를 톤해 이론적 해석의 타당함을 보였고 계산 결과와 일치함을 보였다.
