This study investigated the effects of depression, anxiety, and impulsiveness on suicidal thoughts among adolescents with the goal of better understanding the psychological needs of adolescents and to provide them with more effective counseling and guidance. Participants for this study included 340 high school students in their first and second year living in large urban centers. Respondents answered a questionnaire that documented their experiences related to depression, anxiety, impulsiveness, and suicidal thoughts. Data analysis was performed using the means, standard deviations, correlation analysis, and multiple regression using the IBM SPSS 19.0 statistics program. The results were as follows. There was no statistically significant difference in anxiety and impulsiveness based on gender. However, female respondents demonstrated a higher rate of suicidal thoughts than male respondents. Second, in both sexes, comparative analysis between depression, anxiety, impulsiveness, and suicidal thoughts revealed that respondents with higher levels of depression and anxiety demonstrated elevated levels of suicidal thoughts. Impulsiveness demonstrated a correlation with suicidal thoughts only for female participants. Third, while depression and anxiety affected suicidal thoughts in both male and female respondents, impulsiveness did not affect suicidal thoughts, with depression having the strongest effect.
The purpose of this survey was to investigate eating habits, life styles and nutritional care of diabetic outpatients and to provide basic data for developing individualized nutritional care and diabetic education programs. This survey was carried out by nutritional counseling with a questionnaire and checking medical record. Information about the general characteristics of the subjects, eating habits, health-related life styles and attitude and perception of subjects to diet therapy was gathered from 200 randomly-sampled diabetic outpatients at a University Hospital located in Inchon. All data were analyzed by Statistical Analysis System(SAS) software. The results are summarized as follows : Female subjects were 63.5% of total subjects and 65.5% of total subjects were 50 years or more. The average Body Mas Index(BMI) of male and female subjects were 23.06kg/㎡ and 25.02kg/㎡ respectively and 44% of all subjects wee obese. Among subjects, type II diabetic patients were 81.0% and 82.5% of subjects had suffered from diabetes for more than one year. Also 41% subjects had diabetic history in their family. More than half of the subjects had nutrition education concerning diabetes. Also 75.5% of them thought that nutrition education was effective. The most important guideline in diet therapy was to eat cooked rice with dietary fiber-rich grains. Therefore, it might be necessary to develop nutrition education program adjusted according to diabetic patient's needs and life styles, which may increase feasibility of self-care and implementation of management guidelines.
The purpose of this study is to develop a Marriage Enrichment Program that can be applied to the actual lives of Korean families and couples, as well as adopted in family welfare programs. For this study, a quasi-experimental group design was employed and pre- and post- tests on Internal-External Control, Couple Communication, and Marital Satisfaction were conducted. Experimental participants consisted of six volunteer couples who responded to an advertisement by the Chonbuk Family Counseling Center printed in a daily newspaper. The experimental group received two hours of education on marital relationship enhancement every week for eight weeks. The control group received no such treatment. The effectiveness of the education was measured by Wilcox matched pair test, using a SAS program, as well as by the self-report of the participants. The results show that there was statistically significant improvement for the experimental group in all three areas of marriage-- internal control, couple communication, and marital satisfaction. In addition, the participants'evaluations were generally positive about the program. The participants reported that it was most helpful to learn through the educational program that individuals differ in basic needs and that they should not force personal beliefs on others. They also reported that their understanding of their spouse improved.
Dietary therapy is a basic and emphasized treatment for diabetes. Several clinical studies have shown that diet can play a major role in preventing and managing diabetes. The purposes of this study were to evaluate the dietary behavior and to find solutions to barriers of diabetes mellitus patients. From February to July in 2007, questionnaires were distributed to one hundred and ten patients who were diagnosed DM by physicians and excluded first coming out-patients. One hundred and three data were used for statistical analysis using SPSS/Win 12.0. The main results of this study included the following: To measure dietary behaviors and barriers, a five point scale was used with the following labels: 'strongly yes', 'yes', 'fair', 'no', 'strongly no'. Thirteen dietary behaviors related to diabetes were grouped into the following 4 factors using factor analysis; 'taste control factor', 'blood glucose influence factor', 'practice volition factor', and 'exercise factor'. The mean scores of 4 factors were 3.88, 3.48, 3.55, 3.21, respectively. The 'taste control behaviors' score of subjects who had practiced diet therapy(4.00) was higher than those who had not practiced diet therapy(P<0.05). The 'blood glucose influence behaviors' score of subjects who had nutrition education(3.59) was higher than those who had no nutrition education(P<0.05) and subjects who had practiced diet therapy showed higher score(3.59) than those who had not practiced diet therapy(P<0.05). 'Exercise behaviors score' of subjects who were over 60(3.59) was the lowest(P<0.05). Subjects who had nutrition education showed higher 'exercise behaviors' scores(3.38) than those who had no nutrition education(P<0.05). Subjects who had practiced diet therapy showed higher 'practice volition behaviors' scores(3.72) than those who had not practiced diet therapy(P<0.001). Subjects who were over weight showed the highest 'practice volition behaviors' scores(3.78) concerning BMI(P<0.05). In conclusion, this study expected that Nutrition educators(Dietitian) applied to patient effective nutrition education and counseling through evaluation of Dietary behaviors and barriers considered management types and ecological factors of diabetes patients. Also diabetic patients were easy to change dietary habits because they formed behaviors through education and counsel and there were positive effects in their blood glucose control through removing barriers related to dietary therapy.

In case of the hearing impairment with tinnitus and increased sound sensitivity, it is known that the patients tend to appeal the psychologically oriented social handicap rather than communication disability. The audiologist who is responsible for such patients in aural rehabilitation should pay special attention to the counseling techniques including tinnitus retain therapy (TRT), ear protector, noise generator, or specific acoustic training based on close cooperation and rapport. And then the audiologist should try to lessen their reaction to the tinnitus by using a hearing aid. This therapies tries to focus not a. total approach but a treatment to lessen the severity of tinnitus. This paper as a case report that a unilateral sharply slopped sensorineural hearing impaired person with tinnitus and increased sound sensitivity by using four channel digital signal processing (DSP) hearing aid with programming increment at low level (PILL).
This study was mainly done by factors analyzing to find out the structure and the dimension of the results of a previous study; analyzing the school and hospital dietitians'human attributes needed for successful job performance(Song 1998). The results were as follows: 1) Through factor analysis, the 12 knowledge items were categorized into 4 groups ; ‘basic knowledge of food and nutrition’, ‘knowledge of clinical nutrition and diet therapy’, ‘knowledge of medial science’, and ‘knowledge from experience and common sense’. These 4 knowledge factors were more frequently used and importantly recognized by hospital dietians compared with school dietitians. 2) The 38 skill and ability items were categorized into 7 groups ; ‘ability of program development and research’, ‘ability of counseling and nutrition education’, ‘ability of production control and facility management’, ‘ability to use computer’, ‘ability to cooperate with others’, ‘ability to manage consignment marketing’, and ‘ability of managing situations and informations’. The goal of this study was to find out whether early maladaptive schemas (EMS) can be differentiated between the gifted adolescents and delinquent adolescents. Two groups of adolescents were recruited as participants to be surveyed. 144 gifted adolescents were taken from a gifted science and math education center, and 115 delinquent adolescents who had committed crime were taken from 4 police stations in the area of Gyungnam province in Korea. The Korean version of the Schema Inventory for Children was used to measure the level of the early maladaptive schemas (EMS). Stepwise discriminant function analysis yielded a function containing 5 maladaptive schemas (failure, unrelenting standards, vulnerability to harm and illness, loneness/mistrust/abuse, and subjugation), classifying 75.29 accurately into either gifted adolescents or delinquent adolescents. These results suggested that the types of adolescents (gifted adolescents, and delinquent adolescents) can be predicted based on early maladaptive schemas. The findings are discussed from the perspective of Schema Therapy and school counseling.
