Purpose: Adipose tissue-derived stem cells(ADSC) has an osteoconductive potential and demineralized bone matrix(DBM) is an osteoinductive material. A combination of DBM and ADSC wound probably create osteoinductive properties. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the combination of DBM and ADSC mixture on healing of rat calvarial defect. Methods: Thirty adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into 3 groups(n=10) as 1) Control, 2) DBM alone, 3) DBM with ADSC mixture. DBM with ADSC mixture group has had a 3-day preculture of ADSC from groin fat pad. An 6 mm critical size circular calvarial defect was made in each rat. Defect was implanted with DBM alone or DBM with ADSC mixture. Control defect was left unfilled. 6 and 12 weeks after the implantation, the rats were sacrificed and the defects were evaluated by histomorphometric and radiographical studies. Results: Histomorphometric analysis revealed that DBM with ADSC mixture group showed significantly higher bone formation than DBM alone group(p<0.05). Although radiographs from DBM alone group and DBM with ADSC group revealed similar diffuse radiopaque spots dispersed throughout the defect. Densitometric analysis of calvarial defect revealed DBM with ADSC mixture group significantly higher bone formation than DBM alone(p<0.05). There was correlation of densitometry with new bone formation(Spearman's correlation of coefficient=0.804, 6 weeks, 0.802, 12 weeks). Conclusion: The DBM with ADSC mixture group showed the best healing response and the osteoinductive properties of DBM were accelerated with ADSC mixture. It will be clinically applicable that DBM and ADSC mixture in plastic and reconstructive surgery, such as alveolar cleft and congenital facial deformities that bone graft should be required.
Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to analyze genetic similarity among 8 clones of apierous green peach aphid, two types (M. persicae Sulzer and M. nicotianae lack man) classified by their mo~hologi~cahla raters and host preference (Blackman, 1987), collected from tobacco plants. The genetic variation among these clones was evaluated by polymerase chain reaction amplification with 20 random primers. The higher GC contents of primers, the better in amplification efficiency of PCR reaction in general. The genetic similarities among eight aphid clones were analyzed from UPGMA (unweighted pair group average method) cluster analysis based on simple matching coefficient. The range of genetic similarity coefficients was 0.414 to 0.808. The most close relationship among the clones was similarity coefficient of 0.808 between the PG2 and the PG3 clone. The eight aphid clones analyzed were clustered into three groups by the genetic similarity coefficient. The first group, PG1, PG2, PG3 clone including in M. persicae type by their morphological characters and RED clone in M. nicotianae type was clustered at the genetic similarity coefficient of 0.643. The second group, GR1, GR2, BRN in M. nicotianae type was at the 0.636;and the third group was DBR clone in M. persicae type. The results did not indicate any correlation between m&-phological types (M. persicae and M. nicotianae) and RAPD polymorphism. We could not detect any obvious genetic relationships of the two morphological types of the green peach aphid collected from tobacco plants.
This study included the analysis of mushroom data collected from Mt. Chiak in Gangwon-do using various methods. Former studies of Korean mushrooms are limited by regional characters and there is less species diversity among the regions. This study tried to find a way for the forecast of mushroom distribution and appearance by indexes of species diversity. The indexes used in this study include the number of fungi (N), the number of species (S), similarity index (C), richness index (R1, R2), variety index (V1, V2), evenness index (E1, E2, E3, E4, E5), and dominance index (D1) to analyze variety of species diversity. Analyses of data of fungi using a multistage cluster sampling indicate that the average value of C for years was higher than the average value of C for areas. The mushrooms consisted of 208 species in 686 individuals in limited fungal collection from 2002 to 2003. One hundred thirty nine species in 393 individuals were collected in 2002, and 122 species 293 individuals were collected in 2003. The individuals collected in 2003 were smaller than 2002's individuals. Similarity, richness, and variety indexes' values of 2003 were reduced than 2002's values but dominance index of 2003 was increased than 2002's value. Generally the species diversity of the environment to evaluate the index of similarity, richness, and variety was a higher index; dominance index was lower than that of the surrounding environment, suggesting a good diversity. As a result, the occurrence of mushrooms in the surrounding environment and the various factors seem fell in 2002 compared to 2003. The majority genus of the limited fungal collection was Mycena genus in 63 individuals; the majority species was Laccaria laccata in 34 individuals. Ninety three species in 106 individuals were collected by the extended collection and the majority genus of the extended collection was Amanita genus in 17 individuals; the majority species was Amanita citrina (Schaeff.) Pers. which was found in 5 individuals. This demonstrates that periodical similarity's value was 0.159 is higher than special similarity's 0.119. This indicates that the probability of the appearance of same mushrooms in the same area in following year is higher than the probability of the appearance of same mushrooms in the surrounding area in same year. The value of coefficient of variation (CV), in which the amount of change is much or less by N is higher than the CV value by S. CV value of dominance index(D) was the highest r point among other indexes, and evenness index (E) was the lowest point among other indexes. The correlation matrix with 66 combinations between the indexes, the combinations with correlations was 46 combinations. These results revealed that indexes of R1, V2, and E1 were proper to represent species diversity of fungi based on the correlation matrix and the theory of statistical independence which means there is no or less mutual association. This research would contribute to the study about variable living creature by measuring method and in the future this would be used to figure out regulation about fungi with their correlation, values in ecosystem, develop improving new models about agricultural fungi species and numbers by investigating agricultural variable species.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate levels of matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MMP-8) and substance P (SP) in root canal exudates during root canal treatment (RCT) of nonvital, painful teeth. Materials and Methods: Patients scheduled for nonsurgical RCT were prospectively selected; the study was performed after obtaining informed consent from the patients and was approved by the Institutional Review Board for Clinical Research of Gangnam Severance Hospital, Yonsei University (3-2008-0118). Canal exudates samples were collected using sterilized paper points from teeth scheduled for RCT across three different time periods. MMP-8 and SP levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Data were analyzed using a mixed model analysis and the Pearson correlation analysis (p < 0.05). Results: MMP-8 and SP levels in GCF were decreased during RCT (p < 0.0001), and they showed a weak positive correlation to each other (p < 0.05). Patients' subjective pain levels and the response from percussion test were significantly related to SP level. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that periradicular inflammation endodontic origin can elevate SP and MMP-8 levels in root canal exudates. Interestingly, SP level of canal exudates showed a possibility of being used as an indicator of pain due to periapical pathosis.

In this study, 12 different chemical species of fine ceramic($BaTiO_3$) were synthesized as the standard materials for the fast and accurate measurements of X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. Samples were diluted to sixteen times with the filling compound ($Li_2B_4O_7+LiBO_2$) in order to remove the matrix effect, and to get the convenient storage and homogeneity of ingredients. The matrix effects among the ingredients were corrected by the empirical coefficient method based on the Lucas-Tooth and Price model. The standard curve on 12 standard materials containing 15 elements were obtained by using X-ray fluorescence spectrometry at three different laboratories. The correlation factors of BaO, PbO, SrO, $Fe_2O_3$, $La_2O_3$, $SnO_2$, ZnO, $ZrO_2$, CaO indicated the relati vely good agreement over 0.995 among the three different laboratories. $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ showed the poor linearity because of their low fluorescence intensities.
The iodide formed stoichiometrically for sulfide by its oxidation with iodate was extracted as an ion-pair with methylene green into 1,2-dichloroethane and the extract was measured spectrophotometrically at 656nm for the determination of sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide separated from the sample matrix was introduced into a solution containing pH 3.5 acetate buffer and iodate, in which the hydrogen sulfide was completely converted into iodide. A linear calibration graph was obtained over the range $3{\times}10^{-7}{\sim}1.2{\times}10^{-5}M$ sulfide($0.0096{\sim}0.384{\mu}g$ of $S^{2-}/ml$) and the detection limit was $0.0032{\mu}g/ml$. The apparent molar absorptivity and a correlation coefficient(r) were $6.7{\times}10^4L\;mole^{-1}\;cm^{-1}$ and 0.999, respectively. When applied to the stream water samples, the proposed method gave a relative standard deviation of 1.59% at $5{\times}10^{-6}M$ sulfide level.

We developed a bioanalytical method for simultaneous determination of nine NBOMe derivatives (25H-NBOMe, 25B-NBOMe, 25E-NBOMe, 25N-NBOMe, 25C-NBOH, 25I-NBOH, 25B-NBF, 25C-NBF, and 25I-NBF) in human plasma using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Human plasma samples were pre-treated using solid-phase extraction. Separation was achieved on a C18 column under gradient elution using a mobile phase containing 0.1% formic acid in acetonitrile and 0.1% formic acid in water at a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min. Mass detection was performed in the positive ion mode using multiple reaction monitoring. The calibration range was 1-100 ng/mL for all quantitative analytes, with a correlation coefficient greater than 0.99. The intra- and inter-day precision and accuracy varied from 0.85 to 6.92% and from 90.19 to 108.69%, respectively. The recovery ranged from 86.36 to 118.52%, and the matrix effects ranged from 27.09 to 99.72%. The stability was acceptable in various conditions. The LC-MS/MS method was validated for linearity, accuracy, precision, matrix effects, recovery and stability in accordance with the FDA guidance. The proposed method is suitable for reliable and robust routine screening and analysis of nine NBOMe derivatives in forensic field.
The fourteen different electrodes coated with polymeric lipid membrane were evaluated to selectively monitor the sweet, salty, sour and bitter tastes, and umami. The polymeric lipid membrane consisted of the three components, or polymer matrix, plasticizer and electroactive material, the compositional ratio of which was 1:1.25:1. Herein, the 14 different electroactive materials were used. Sucrose, NaCl, citric acid, caffeine and MSG were used as standard materials of sweet, salty, sour and bitter tastes, and umami. The linear responses of each electrode regarding 5 tastes were analyzed by means of the correlation coefficient between electric potential difference and concentration of a taste material when the linearity was based on a linear model and a thermodynamic model, respectively. As fur salty taste, the electrode coated with valinomycin had a selective linearity at the significance level of 0.01. For monitoring sweet taste, the electrode with oleylamine and the electrode with the mixture of tai-n-octylmethylammonium chloride and dioctylphosphate (2:8) showed the significant linearities at the levels of 0.05 and 0.10, respectively.

Ocean surface wind speed was estimated using TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission) TMI (TRMM Microwave/Imager) data. It is used the TRMM TMI brightness temperature and National Data Buoy Center's buoy winds speed dataset near North-America to estimate by the algorithm of the ocean surface wind speed retrieval over North America. Comparing with the buoy data by D-matrix equation, the result that RMSE, BIAS, and correlation coefficient are 2.19 $ms^{-1}$, 1.10 $ms^{-1}$, and 0.81, respectively. Therefore the estimated oceanic surface wind speed by TRMM TMI brightness temperature data show that available to ocean research over upper ocean.
Cu-Salen complex was prepared and attached into chitosan (Cs) polymer backbone. Nanocomposite of the synthesized polymer was prepared with functionalized carbon nano-particles (Cs-Cu-sal/C) to modify the electrode surface. The surface morphology of (Cs-Cu-sal/C) nanocomposite film showed a homogeneous distribution of carbon nanoparticles within the polymeric matrix. The cyclic voltammogram of the modified electrode exhibited a redox behavior at -0.1 V vs. Ag/AgCl (3 M KCl) in 0.1 M PB (pH 7) and showed an excellent hydrogen peroxide reduction activity. The Cs-Cu-sal/C electrode displays a linear response from $5{\times}10^{-6}$ to $5{\times}10^{-4}M$, with a correlation coefficient of 0.993 and detection limit of $0.9{\mu}M$ (at S/N = 3). The sensitivity of the electrode was found to be $0.356{\mu}A\;{\mu}M^{-1}\;cm^{-2}$.
