Recently, Pb-free solder ball technology, which is getting more significant in miniaturization of electronic equipment, and resolution of recent environmental problems, is necessary to be developed. A plastic-core solder ball is much promising in those considerations. Plastic-core solder balls have the tendency to replace the usual metal-core solder ball from low material cost and superior mechanical properties. The thermal effects, however, are important in manufacturing process, such as deposing micro-sized metal thin film on the spherical polymer surface. Furthermore plastic-core solder balls are easy to be broken due to CTE and elastic coefficient of material property from heat transfer. We propose technical computational investigations for the manufacturing design and the reliability of plastic-core solder ball from thermal stress analysis.
The effort attempts to investigate the influence of various non-oriented electrical steel sheets on the core loss of a switched reluctance motor (SRM). The core loss of the motor inherits a strong correlation with flux density and permeability of the material. The study involves the use of laminated 2.7 % high silicon steel suitable for the motor in view of its higher flux density and lower core loss. The accurate prediction of core loss leaves way to suggest measures for improving the performance of the SRM. The dynamic simulation measurements of a 1.5 kW, three-phase 12/8 SRM involve the finite element method (FEM) and use the data obtained experimentally from Epstein frame. The closeness of the simulated and hardware results obtained with laminations of M400-50A, DI MAX-M19 and DI MAX-M15 both for the stator and rotor, espouse a greater significance to the findings in terms of the core loss density and forge new dimensions for its use in the drive industry.

A series of microcapsule were synthesized by using several PCM(Phase Change Material) as a core material and gelatin/arabic gum, melamine/formaldehyde as a shell material. Coacervation technique and in situ polymerization were adopted in synthesizing microcapsules. In the microencapsulation by coacervation, tetradecane and octadecane were used as core materials. In the microencapsulation by situ polymerization tetradecane, pentadecane, hexadecane, heptadecane, octadecane, and nonadecane were used as core material. The synthesized microcapsule was examined to observe the shape of the microcapsule. The particle size analysis was performed by particle size analyzer. The thermal properties(e.g. melting point, heat of melting, crystallization temperature, heat of crystallization, differences between melting point and crystallization temperature) were obtained by DSC(Differential Scanning Calorimeter). The stirring rate effect was investigated during the microencapsulation. It was found that with increasing the stirring rate much smaller microcapule was produced. However, this did not necessarily lead to formation of spherical microcapsule.
Microcapsules containing fragrant oils as a core material were prepared by in situ polymerization, using melamine-formaldehyde prepolymer as the wall material. The several parameters, such as stirring times, stirring rates, emulsifier types, emulsifier concentrations, and the viscosity of the core materials, affect the characteristics of the microcapsules. These parameters were investigated by the analyses of microcapsule size, particle size distribution, and morphology. The average microcapsule size decreased with an increase in stirring time, stirring rate, emulsifier concentration, and viscosity of the core material. It was also found that poly(vinyl alcohol) as a protective colloid could enhance the stability of the melamine-formaldehyde microcapsules.
In motor design, an important factor is the content of silicon in coss material, which can effect the saturation of magnetic circuit and coss loss. While the content of silicon is high, the core loss will be reduced. At the same time, in order to assure the effective flux, the magnetizing current must be increased and then the copper loss becomes higher. Therefore the material with high content of silicon, which is used in the motor, can not always give the high efficiency. In this paper flux linkage of two different material s10 and s60 is compared according to the operating region and then exciting current to obtain same flux is estimated. By comparing core loss and copper loss between two material with the estimated current and flux linkage, this paper presents a criterion in determining the material for higher efficiency
In the present study, the deformation behavior of both of metal and polymer combination on impact was investigated. They have showed a different deformation behavior when the co-axially combined projectile was impacted on rigid target. The theory according to Taylor's simplified approach assumes an ideally rigid-plastic material model exhibiting rate-independent behavior and simple one-dimensional wave propagation concepts that neglect radial inertia. In the case of impact with polymeric materials, elastic strain in general are not negligible compared with plastic strain; and the rigid-plastic material behavior assumed by Taylor for metallic materials cannot be applied any more. Since, the sleeve and the core materials have widely different mechanical properties, they will produce a significant difference of mechanical impedance with each other. Therefore these impedance mismatch influences on the deformation behavior sleeved polymer projectile on impact. As a result, sleeved projectiles will generate a very interesting impact behavior. Therefore, the according to sleeved metal material and core polymer material can see expected. The objective of this study was to investigate the factors which influences on deformation behavior pattern of sleeve materials surface.
Fibrous $Al_2O_3-(m-ZrO_2)/t-ZrO_2$ composites having core/shell structure were fabricated by multi-extrusion process. The effect o volume fraction between core ($Al_2O_3-(m-ZrO_2)$) and shell ($t-ZrO_2$ was investigated to understand the relationship between microstructure and material properites, in which the volume fractions of core and shell were varied as 40:60, 50:50 and 60:40. The material properties o hardness and bending strength were increased as the volume fraction of core was increased, and their maximum values were about 1320 Hv and 750MPa, respectively. However, as the volume fraction of core increased, the values of relative density and fracture toughness were decreased from 97.1 to $96.5\%$ and from $6.5MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$ to $5.7MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$, respectively.
Honeycomb structure has been fabricated by brazing method using 0.1 wt%C and 1.0wt%C carbon steel core and STS304 stainless steel face sheet. Core shear strength ratio in W and L directions was 1:1.03 in 7 mm cell size, whereas 1:1.45 in 4 mm cell size. Flexural strength on face sheet was 166.4 MPa (0.1 wt%C, W direction), 171.1 MPa (0.1 wt%C, L direction), and 120.2 MPa (1.0 wt%C, W direction) in 7 mm cell size. And in 4mm cell size specimen, it was 169.2 MPa (0.1 wt%C, W direction), 224.2 MPa (0.1 wt%C, L direction). This means that flexural strength of 0.1 wt%C core material was higher than that of 1.0wt%C core material, which was contrary to expectation. SEM and EDS analysis represented that grain boundary diffusion had occurred in0.1 wt%C core, but no grain boundary diffusion in 1.0 wt%C core. And corrugated surface of 0.1 wt%C core was flat, whereas that of 1.0 wt%C core was not flat. As a result, contact area between two 1.0 wt%C cores was much less than that of 0.1 wt% cores, It is thought to be main reason for lower flexural strength of 1.0 wt%C core.
Polystyrene nanocapsules containing octadecane as a core material were prepared by miniemulsion polymerization. The morphology and size of the nanocapsules were measured with varying the surfactant concentration, content of initiator, core/shell ratio and content of comonomer. The morphologies of the prepared nanoparticles were examined by a scanning electron microscope, a transmission electron microscope and the core material was confirmed by a differential scanning calorimeter. The particles below 70 nm in diameter were formed at a high surfactant concentration. The size of the nanoparticles was not significantly affected by the initiator content. With increasing the core/shell ratio and polar comonomer content, the particle size and its distribution were increased.

This study discusses special aspects of severe accident related recriticality modeling and analysis in the Advanced Neutron Source (ANS) reactor.$^{1, 2)}$ The analytical comparison of three elements core to former two elements case is conducted including evaluation of suitable nuclear cross-section sets to account for the effects of system configulation, fuel and moderator mixture temperature, material dispersion and the other thermal-hydraulics. Three elements core ANS reactor is the alternative core design which was proposed as a modified core design, with three fuel elements instead of two, that would allow operation with only 50% enriched uranium (former uranium fuel is the baseline design value of 93%) A comprehensive test matrix of calculations to evaluate the threat of a criticality event in the ANS is described. Strong dependencies still on geometry, material constituents, and thermal-hydraulic conditions are verified. Therefore, the concepts of mitigative design features are qualified.d.
