  • This paper, proposes concept of personal robot middleware core also called streaming layer. Based on openness and portability, the streaming layer is proposed in order to meet requirements of different kinds of applications. The streaming layer architecture provides effective management of data flows and allows integration of different systems with ease regardless software of hardware platform. With extensibility support additional features can be build in without affect to performance. Therefore, heterogeneous network support, real-time communications, embedded boards support can be easily achieved. In order to achieve high performance together with portability into different platforms, the most functions has to be implemented in C language, while critical parts, such as scheduling, priority assignment has to be made using native functions of tested platforms.

  • Policy-based Network Management (PBNM) has been presented as a paradigm for efficient and customizable management systems. The approach chosen is based on PBNM systems, which are a promising and novel approach to network management. These systems have the potential to improve the automation of network management processes. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has also used policy concepts and provided a framework to describe the concept as the Policy Core Information Model (PCIM) and its extensions. There are policy conflicts among the policies that are defined as the policy information model and they are not easily and effectively detected and resolved. In this paper, we present the brief description of PBNM and illustrate the concepts of policy core information model and its policy implementation for a network security. Especially we describe our framework for detecting and resolving the policy conflicts for network security.

Performance Prediction of Centrifugal Pumps using a Two Zone Model (두영역모델을 사용한 원심펌프의 성능예측)

  • In this study, the performance prediction programs for centrifugal pumps are developed. To estimate the losses in the centrifugal pump impellers, a two-zone model and TEIS(two elements in series) model are applied to the program. The basic concept of a two zone model considers the primary zone that is an isentropic core flow and the secondary zone that has a non-isentropic region at the impeller exit. The flow goes through two different zones and is mixed out at the impeller exit and the mixing process occurs with an increase in entropy, a decrease in total pressure. The level of the core flow diffusion in an impeller was calculated using TEIS(two elements in series) model. The effects of various parameters which are used in this program on the prediction of head and efficiency are discussed. The correlation curves used to select the effectiveness of the primitive TEIS model were suggested according to the specific speed of the centrifugal pumps.

  • It requires different safety programs from those of the typical train control systems to develop AGT systems applying train control system based on communication technology. Especially Advanced LRT system involves the processes that have the various safety functions being conducted by softwares and also have characteristics that should have special interest in validation of interface specification. The core items for the safety engineering for LRT control systems are hardware & software engineering, safety-critical system safety engineering, application software validation & verification technologies. In this paper the trends of the technologies for the mentioned core-items are described.

  • Many changes in the railway environment has directly affected to the railway company. To cope immediately with the influence of environment and to promote productivity, the railway company has to introduce an efficient train operation system and related core technologies. The railway system is composed or large-scale infrastructures ann high-cost trains. Simulation method is one or core technologies and also is efficient tool for planning and analyzing this kind of complex system. The purpose of this research is to develop multi-train traffic simulator considering high-speed train for GyongBu-Line. To achieve this objective, the elements of railway system was analyzed, and as a result, a data structure modeling for the railway system such as rail-Tine infrastructure, rain, timetable and operational route is presented. The developed simulator is composed of three major part : input-module, main-module, and output module. The concept and brief explanation of each module will be treated.

  • Presented is a preliminary design concept of the carbon-glass hybrid composite rebars for the application in the construction field. A glass fiber rod with indentation is used for the core of the rebar. Carbon fibers are placed over the glass core by pultrusion. To increase the mechanical locking force and bonding surface, carbon filament windings are added in the hoop direction over the carbon face. Finite element analysis and test were conducted to evaluate the effective stiffness and strength of the rods. The results show that the effective axial stiffness of the rebar with indentation are about $50\%$ of the straight rebar.

  • Many people think, in common that An expansion toward outer city is a development, and it can be a general trends in a new development in a growing city. But We can see many case which moving of a public building are considerate as a core element to promote the new development towards outer city, and that is a negative element of slum in central area and community making. There are many aspects to pursue sustainable urban structure of in a city, and public building is a very important element to manage deteriorate central area from social slum in a old town. In this presentation, three project, Local Authority office of Chonnam province, Kwangju Station, and Hyper Urbanity, and it shows sustainable concept of the public building as a core in a city development. The effect of the projects are expected sustainable development and community in terms of social, cultural and historical aspects.

A study of Induction Voltage Regulator Imporvement (동극 및 이극에 의한 유도전 압조정방식)

  • This voltage Regulator, which regulates voltage in different way from the conventional regulator, is constructed by circular-plate core type stators and controllers (are similar to rotor of conventional). The principle of this Voltage Regulator is based on the rotating magnetic field theory including peculiar homopolar and heteropolar concept. Comparing with the conventional induction regulator, this regulator need not to have short windings and can cancel armature reaction. Moreover, it is able to decrease the machine noise and control the phase of it freely. And it's efficiency can become more than 95% which almost the same as that of transformer's. By increasing numbers of cores of the same size, the output power can be increased, the insulation can be decreased and high Voltage can directly be connected because applied voltage is distributed to each core. This Voltage Regulator can be also used as a current regulator, a starter a induction motor and a phase transformer etc.

  • In this paper, we revise the JDL data fusion model to have an ability of distributed data fusion(DDF). Data fusion is a function that produces valuable information using data from multiple sources. After the network centric warfare concept was introduced, the data fusion was required to be expanded to DDF. We identify the data transfer and control between nodes is the core function of DDF. The previous data fusion models can not be used for DDF because they don't include that function. Therefore, we revise the previous JDL data fusion model by adding the core function of DDF and propose this new model as a model for DDF. We show that our model is adequate and useful for DDF by using several examples.

  • The optimal shape modeling of core parts through 3D modeling and structural analysis for the development of small and medium-sized ships. The goal is to improve the efficient structure of the hydraulic system for controlling the rudder among the core steering parts in small and medium-sized ships. Through 3D modeling and structural analysis, a new concept of tiller parts and a double-acting hydraulic cylinder control system were proposed and operational structural stability was evaluated. Structural analysis of the three different tiller designs that can be replaceable onto existing fishing vessels was conducted to derive the final shapes. The emphasis was placed on evaluating the structural stability of the key drive components, the tiller, pin, and cylinder rodin the maximum torque condition of the hydraulic cylinder.
