Objective: This study was conducted to confirm the effect of physiotherapy on the balance and walking in dog with sciatic nerve injury and degenerative arthritis of stifle joints. Design: Single case study Methods: The dog walked abnormally for six months and was administrated in S animal hospital. The dog's right hindlimb was operated for cranial cruciate ligament repair and the dog had been taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic before being refered. There was severe degenerated osteoarthritis in the right hindlimb. During stance and walking, the right hindlimb was often shown partial weight bearing. The dog's left hindlimb was shown plantigrade stance and walking. The radiograph was shown an intact calcaneal tendon in the left hindlimb. In the neurologic examination, sciatic nerve injury in the left hindlimb was confirmed. The dog was treated using muscle strengthening, proprioceptive exercise, underwater treadmill and Laser therapy two, or three times a week for 3 months. At the 10th and 17th treatment, it was evaluated through stance and gait analyzer system to measure dog's balance and walking. Results: 3 months following physiotherapy, the dog's balance was improved in center of pressure(COP). And peak vertical force(PVF), vertical impulse(VI) was increased in right hindlimb and double stance was decreased. Conclusions: Physiotherapy may have improved the prognosis in this dog with severe osteoarthritis and sciatic nerve injury. This study suggested that animal physiotherapy is a valuable way to improve balance and walking.
The Stirling cryocoolers have been widely used for the cooling of the infrared detector(InSb, HgCdTe, and etc,) and HTS(High Temperature Superconductor) to the cryogenic temperature. The monobloc Stirling cryocoolers with the rotary compressor are applicable to the cooling device for the compact mobile thermal imaging system, because the cryocoolers have the compact structure and light weight. The typical performance factors of the Stirling cryocooler are the cool-down time, cooling capacity at the desired temperature (80 K), the electric input power and COP. The above performance factors depend on the operating conditions such as the charging pressure of the helium gas, the thermal environment and etc.. In this study, the effects of the thermal environment (temperature of 241, 293, and 333 K) on the performance of the cryocooler were investigated by experiments. The results show the effects of the temperature of the thermal environment on the cooling capacity and input power.

A lot of research is being done to develop a high-efficiency heat pump to save energy, and research to reduce or eliminate the phenomenon of frost occurring in the outdoor unit coil is also being conducted at the same time. In order to conduct a study that does not cause frost on the outdoor unit of the heat pump regardless of the season, a constant temperature chamber like a general room that can be tested under the same conditions as in the natural state was built. The experiment was conducted by providing an environment similar to the natural state to the outdoor unit of the heat pump installed in the constant temperature chamber. As a result, the lower the outdoor temperature, the lower the efficiency of the heat pump. It wat confirmed that the lower the value, the longer it is.
Objective: To identify the effect of unstable surface kettlebell exercises on muscle activity and balance in middle and high school baseball players. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: The participants were 29 middle and high school baseball players (Unstable surface kettlebell exercises group, USKE: 15; Stable surface kettlebell exercise group, SSKE: 14). The players in the USKE group performed kettlebell exercises for 60 mins on a stable surface thrice a week for 6 weeks, and the return rack was solidified on a stable surface in the same way as the experimental group. Before and after the experiment, the participant's muscle activity of the tibialis anterior and soleus was measured. In addition, the participant's balance was evaluated by measuring the distance moved from the foot's center of pressure (COP). The paired t-test was used to compare groups before and after the experiment. The independent t-test was conducted to assess differences in the degree of change between the two groups before and after the experiment. Results: Compared to the SSKE group, the USKE group showed significant differences in the muscle activity of the tibialis anterior and soleus and the balance with the eyes open and closed. Conclusions: The players in the USKE group showed a significant difference in muscle activity and balance than in those in the SSKE group. Thus, effectively including an unstable surface in the kettlebell exercise program will help improve physical function in athletes and people with musculoskeletal disorders.

A constant temperature chamber that can be tested under the same conditions as natural conditions was constructed to conduct research that does not cause frost on the outdoor unit of the heat pump regardless of the season. The outdoor unit of the heat pump installed in the constant temperature chamber was simulated under the same natural conditions. As a result, it was confirmed that the mass flow rate of the refrigerant decreased as the outdoor temperature decreased, and the dryness of the refrigerant also increased linearly with the outdoor temperature.

Only ground source heat pump units certified according to the regulations in Korea can be adopted in ground source heat pump systems. In this study, domestic and international standards and regulations for ground source heat pump units were investigated. Unlike ISO 13256-1~2, which is the international standard, KS B 8292~8294 for ground source heat pump unit only included rated test conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to supplement various test conditions to the KS B series, because its performance data, which is required to calculate the system's design capacity, is dependent on the change in entering water temperature. The difference between the coefficient of performance of the certified ground source heat pump units and the certified criteria changed significantly according to the operating mode, heat source, and load type, because the criteria increased by about 5% for all. Thus, it is highly suggested that the certification standards be revised while considering the product performance level and various conditions.
Idaho National Laboratory (INL) announced at COP27 it would reach net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2031. As a Nuclear, Energy and Environment, and National Homeland Security laboratory, the predominant solution to closing the clean energy gap will include nuclear as a safe, clean, reliable and affordable electricity source with the additional benefit of producing heat and hydrogen to fuel INL's large transportation fleet. INL's collaboration first vs. competition is essential to the program's success. The focused actions in INL's Nuclear Roadmap include: Infrastructure, Licensing/Regulatory, Financial, Time to Market, Fuel Cycle and Public Confidence/Communications. The roadmap also includes nuclear technology innovations and creative partnerships with utility providers, regulators, businesses, community members, and Indigenous Peoples to accelerate deployment of advanced reactors. Through development of the Net-Zero Nuclear Roadmap, INL will offer a model to provide safe and secure energy for the nation and the world by: (1) establishing the necessary infrastructure on its 890-square mile site to support demonstration, (2) showing proven pathways through the licensing and regulation process, (3) partnering with utilities to ensure commercial application, and (4) collaborating with industry to site new technologies.
This paper presents the design and experimental analysis of a cryogenic refrigeration system for -100 ℃, primarily intended for semiconductor etching process. The refrigeration system utilizes non-flammable mixed refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigeration cycle, incorporating a precooling stage to enhance overall performance. The selected refrigerants for the system include R1234yf for the precooling stage, and Ar, R14, R23 and R218 for the main cooling stage of the Joule-Thomson refrigeration cycle. Design results according to the system constraints and experimental results are discussed, including lowest evaporation temperature, compressor isentropic efficiency and overall pressure tendencies. The achieved refrigerant fraction from optimal design is Ar: R14: R23: R218 = 0.15: 0.4: 0.15: 0.3, indicating COP of 0.1118 at the isentropic compressor efficiency of 50%. The experimental result shows the developed system reaches steady state in approximately 3 hours.
Purpose: In this study, based on the error augmentation, we performed walking training with increased rhythmic auditory stimulation speed on the affected side (IRAS) and walking training with decreased rhythmic auditory stimulation speed on the unaffected side (DRAS). The purpose of this study was to verify whether motor learning was effective in improving balance ability. Methods: Twenty-eight subjects with chronic stroke were recruited from a rehabilitation center. The subjects were divided into three groups: an IRAS group (10 subjects), a DRAS group (9 subjects), and control group (9 subjects). They received 30minutes of neuro-developmental therapy and walking training for 30minutes, five times a week for three weeks. Static and functional balance ability were measured before and after the training period. Static balance was measured by balancia software. Functional balance was measured by the timed up and go test (TUG) and the berg balance scale (BBS). Results: After the training periods, the IRAS group showed a significant improvement in TUG, BBS, area 95% COP, and weight distribution on the affected side when compared to both the DRAS group and control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is possible to consider error augmentation methods of motor learning if rhythmic auditory stimulation is applied to stroke patients in clinical practice. If the affected side is shorter than the unaffected side, the affected side should be adjusted to the increased rhythmic auditory stimulation speed, which is considered to be an effective intervention to improve balance ability.

This paper proposes a novel cooling system for hydrogen fuel cell cooling systems by integrating heat pump technology to enhance operational efficiency. The study analyzed the cooling efficiency of the fuel cell cooling system. With the increasing focus on eco-friendly vehicle technologies to address environmental concerns and global warming, the transportation sector, a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, needs technological enhancements for better efficiency. The proposed cooling system was modeled through 1-D simulations. The analysis results of parameters such as thermal balance, temperature, and pressure of each component confirmed the stable operation of the system. By examining variations in the cooling system's flow rate, compressor RPM, and the Coefficient of Performance (COP) based on different refrigerants, initial research was conducted to derive optimal operating conditions and parameter values.
