Meteorological Mechanisms Associated with Long-range Transport of Asian Dust Observed at the West Coast of North America in April 2001

  • Meteorological mechanisms in association with long-range transport of Asian dust in April 2001 have been investigated using weather maps, satellite images, TOMS and surface $PM_{10}$ data, backward trajectories, plus modeling output results (geopotential heights, horizontal wind vectors, potential temperatures, and streamlines). The results indicated that long -range transport of Asian dust to the west coast of North America was associated with strong westerlies between the Aleutian low and the Pacific high acting as a conveyor belt. Accelerating westerly flows due to cyclogenesis at the source regions over East Asia transported pollution from the continent to the central Pacific. When the system reached the Aleutian Islands, the intensity of troughs and the westerlies were amplified in the North Pacific. Thereafter the winds between the Aleutian Islands and the Pacific Ocean were more intensified from the air flow transport of the conveyor belt. Consequently, the strong wind in the conveyor belt enhanced the dust transport from the Pacific Ocean to the west coast of North America. This was evidenced by $PM_{10}$ concentration (maximum of about $100{\mu}g\;m^{-3}$) observed In California. Further evidence of the dust transport was found through the observation of satellite images, the distribution of TOMS aerosol index, and the analyses of streamlines and backward trajectories.

  • 헬리컬형으로 자화된 영구자석을 이용한 비접촉 마그넷 기어를 개발하기 위하여 3차원 FEM 해석 기법을 활용하였고 마그넷 기어의 자기적 특성 해석 및 설계 요소기술을 확보하였다. 마그넷 기어를 이용한 클린 반송 컨베이어 및 회전장치의 성능평가를 위하여 class 10의 클린부스 환경에서 시험운전을 거쳐, 이송 속도, 최대 허용 토크, 클린도, 최대 이송 중량, 헌팅 유무, 소음도 등을 측정한 결과 클린도 class 10의 공정까지도 대응이 가능한 것으로 확인되었다.

  • An industrial vibratory conveyor system is devised for large-scale feeding by the low-power, using natural frequency of the system. The important thing in this system is to determine the natural frequency and to drive by it. The purpose of this study is to build up reliance on the system with changing of element parameters for vibration characteristics of balancing type vibratory conveyor by using F.E.M. modeling. For investigating the natural frequency, modal testing is performed by using impact hammer, accelerometer and LMS/Vibration Analysis System. Experimental results are compared with F.E.M results. The results of the comparisons within the errors of less than 2 percent can verify the reliability of the F.E.M. analysis of the system. Also we can verify that the characteristics of natural frequency have linearly decreased(-6%) as adding the mass($50{\sim}600kg$). We can find that controlling driving frequency is necessary for triggering the natural frequency, but natural frequency is less affected by adding the mass on the balancing weight.

  • Flat Panel Display(FPD) is widely used a video display terminals to consumer products of LCD and PDP. The contamination and damage were affected by using the previous contact conveyor's method. In this paper, it analyzes the FPD deflection to develop the non-contact FPD transfer process using lift force. Each conveyor's equipment is called a horizontal conveyor, vertical conveyor and robot pick-up equipment. As result of an analysis of FPD panel's deflection, a robot pick-up equipment has performed according to under the present conditions like panel's weight and loaded glass to move FPD panel from one place to other places properly. Results of the analysis showed 0.474 mm, 0.424 mm and 1.237 mm. Those values are lower than a predicted optimum values : 2 mm for both horizontal and vertical conveyers; 5 mm for robot pick-up equipment. Therefore, those results verify each equipment have safety and reliability.

트랙터부착형 배추수확장치의 설계요인 (Design Factors for Chinese Cabbage Harvester Attachable to Tractors)

  • This study was conducted in order to develop a Chinese cabbage harvester attachable to tractors. For designing Chinese cabbage harvester in which laboratory and field tests were conducted with to determine feasible values design factors. To adopt the various sizer of C-cabbages, U-type soft rubber band was attached to the chain conveyor with an angle. Required torque of the conveyor axle was about 206-210kgf$.$cm. And the required peripheral speed of the disk cutter was 6.54m/s or more to have a clean session in root cutting. Three different harvest method were tested. The best harvesting method with minimum pulling force and damage was disk cutting flying just above the soil surface were the cut chinese cabbages are transferring to the holding conveyor attached soft rubber lug in prompt. Theoretical speed ratio of the tractor travel and feed of a chain conveyor was 1:1.2 with the attaching angle of 30 degree and 1:1.1 with the angle of 20 degree. Actual field experiment showed the speed ratio of 1:1.5 was the best because of the slip effect.

Damage identification of belt conveyor support structure using periodic and isolated local vibration modes

  • Due to corrosion, a large number of belt conveyors support structure in industrial plants have deteriorated. Severe corrosion may result in collapse of the structures. Therefore, practical and effective structural assessment techniques are needed. In this paper, damage identification methods based on two specific local vibration modes, named periodic and isolated local vibration modes, are proposed. The identification methods utilize the facts that support structures have many identical members repeated along the belt conveyor and there exist some local modes within a small frequency range where vibrations of these identical members are much larger than those of the other members. When one of these identical members is damaged, this member no longer vibrates in those modes. Instead, the member vibrates alone in an isolated mode with a lower frequency. A damage identification method based on frequencies comparison of these vibration modes and another method based on amplitude comparison of the periodic local vibration mode are explained. These methods do not require the baseline measurement records of undamaged structure. The methods is capable of detecting multiple damages simultaneously. The applicability of the methods is experimentally validated with a laboratory model and a real belt-conveyor support structure.

  • 모터로 다수의 롤러를 제어하여 대상 제품을 이송하는 자체 구동 롤러 컨베이어 시스템은 물류의 분기 및 합류, 대상 제품의 정렬 제어에 적합한 물류 시스템으로서 식품 제조 공정을 중심으로 활용도가 높아지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 유니티 소프트웨어를 활용하여 자체 구동 롤러 컨베이어 시스템의 3차원 그래픽 모델링 기반 시뮬레이션 환경을 구축하고, 대상 제품이 시간적으로 불규칙하게 공급되는 상황에서 시스템을 구성하는 롤러의 제어에 의해 일정한 간격을 유지하도록 정렬시킬 수 있는 기법을 제안하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 대상 제품의 위치를 파악하는 센서데이터를 바탕으로 롤러를 구동하는 모터를 제어함으로써 제품의 효과적인 정렬이 가능함을 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 컨테이너의 하역작업 시간을 단축함으로써 항만 하역 능률을 향상시킬 수 있는 고효율 갠트리 크레인의 필수 구조인 컨베이어 프레임의 구조설계를 수행하였다. 이것은 작업시 프레임 상부에 얹혀지는 컨테이너의 중량과 컨베이어 프레임의 자중으로 인하여 굽혀지게 되므로 본 연구에서는 프레임의 굽힘응력과 처짐이 설정값을 만족하면서 자체의 중량을 최소화할 수 있도록 ANSYS를 이용한 치수 최적화를 통하여 프레임의 두께를 설계하였다.

  • The parameters and operating characteristics of the switched reluctance motor (SRM) for the electric drive of the overland belt conveyor CLM-4500 have been presented. The motor power capacity has been equal to 1250 kW, the motor speed - 1000 min-1. SRM power supply has been provided by a three-phase voltage inverter and a 12-pulse rectifier circuit. The group electric drive has been installed on sections number 2 and 3, 3770 m and 3375 m length, respectively, on the areas of "Berezovsky Strip" JSC, a member of the Siberian Coal Energy Company.
