New Robust $H_{\infty}$ Performance Condition for Uncertain Discrete-Time Systems

  • In this paper, we establish a new robust $H_{\infty}$ performance condition for uncertain discrete-time systems with convex polytopic uncertainties. We express the condition as a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which are used to check stability and $H_{\infty}$ disturbance attenuation level by a parameter-dependent Lyapunov matrix. We show that the new condition provides less conservative result than the existing ones which use single Lyapunov matrix. We also show that the robust $H_{\infty}$ state feedback design problem for such uncertain discrete-time systems can be easily dealt with using the approach. The key point in this paper is to propose a kind of decoupling between the Lyapunov matrix and the system matrices in the parameter-dependent matrix inequality by introducing one new matrix variable.

  • This paper concerns the problem of global robust stability of a time-delay discontinuous system with a positive-defined connection matrix under polytopic-type uncertainty. In order to give the stability condition, we firstly address the existence of solution and equilibrium point based on the properties of M-matrix, Lyapunov-like approach and the theories of differential equations with discontinuous right-hand side as introduced by Filippov. Second, we give the delay-independent and delay-dependent stability condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), and based on Lyapunov function and the properties of the convex sets. One numerical example demonstrate the validity of the proposed criteria.

DISTURBANCE ATTENUATION FOR A CLASS OF DISCRETE-TIME SWITCHED SYSTEMS WITH EXPONENTIAL UNCERTAINTY

  • The disturbance attenuation problem for a class of discretetime switched linear systems with exponential uncertainties via switched state feedback and switched dynamic output feedback is investigated, respectively. By using Taylor series approximation and convex polytope technique, exponentially uncertain discrete-time switched linear system is transformed into an equivalent switched polytopic model with additive norm bounded uncertainty. For such equivalent switched model, one designs its switching strategy and associated state feedback controllers and dynamic output feedback controllers so that whole switched model is asymptotical stabilization with H-in nity disturbance attenuation base on switched Lyapunov function and LMI approach. Finally, two numerical examples are presented to illustrate our results.

  • In this paper, generalized singular value is defined. Using the generalized singular value, robust stability conditions and robust pole placement conditions of structured uncertain systems with star shaped uncertainties are derived. Especially, norm bounded and polytopic uncertainty regions are considered as star shaped uncertainty regions. Linear matrix inequality problems are proposed in order to compute the upper bound of the generalized singular value. The proposed linear matrix inequality problems can be solved by using the convex optimization method.

  • 본 논문에서는 볼록 한계 불확실성(convex bounded uncertainty)을 가지는 이산시간 선형 시스템의 견실 $H_{\infty}$ 필터 설계 알고리듬을 제안한다. 다루고 있는 파라미터 불확실성은 폴리토프형(polytope type) 볼록 한계를 가지는 형태이다. 본 논문의 목적은 필터링 오차 시스템의 점근 안정성(asymptotic stability)과 변형한 성능지수의 유도 $L_2$ 노옴($L_2$ induced norm) 한계치를 해적적으로 제시하는 안정한 견실 $H_{\infty}$ 필터를 설계하는 것이다. 견실 $H_{\infty}$ 필터가 존재할 충분조건과 필터 설계 방법은 볼록 최적화 기법에 의하여 효과적으로 해를 구하는 선형행렬부등식 방법에 의하여 제시한다. 제안한 알고리듬의 타당성은 예제를 통하여 확인한다.

  • The design method of H$\infty$ filter for discrete-time uncertain linear systems with multiple state delays is investigated. The uncertain parameters are assumed to be unknown but belonging to known convex compact set of polytope type less conservative than norm bounded parameter uncertainty. The modified H$\infty$ performance measure is introduced to consider the initial states values which affect the performance of filter. The objective is to design a stable H$\infty$ filter guaranteeing asymptotic stability of filtering error dynamics and minimizing H$\infty$ norm bound. The sufficient condition for the existence of filter and the filter design method are established by LMI (linear matrix inequality) approach.
