  • The objective of this study is aimed at developing a new class of polymer concrete, in which hydration of cement and curing of a thermosetting resin can take place simultaneously during the mixing of concrete components. For the selected mix-proportion of the new polymer, the physical and mechanical properties needed for designs are presented. These important properties are compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile strength, direct strength, fatigue characteristics and fracture parameters. The observed properties are always compared with conventional concrete to serve as reference for engineer in deciding or selecting the proper materials for their projects, and shore protecting structure.

  • Projection stereolithography is an additive manufacturing method that uses beam projection to cure the photo-reactive resin used. The light source of a cross-section layer-form illuminates photo-curable resin for building a three-dimensional (3D) model. This method has high accuracy and a fast molding speed because the processing unit is a face instead of a dot. This study describes a Scalable Projection Stereolithography 3D Printing System for improving the accuracy of the stereolithography. In a conventional projection 3D printer, when printing a small sized model, many pixels are not used in the projection or curing. The proposed system solves this problem through an optical adjustment, and keeps using the original image as possible as filling the whole projection area. The experimental verification shows that the proposed system can maintain the highest level of precision regardless of the output size.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of addition of fiber glass on the physical properties of silanized fiber mesh and non silanized mesh of denture base resins. Methods: The denture base resins were used in this study heat curing acrylic resins(Vertex Rs, Lucitone 199, $20{\times}80mm$) and fiber glass(SES, Green B&D co., Ltd, $20{\times}80mm$) were used as reinforcement. The specimens were stored in distilled water at $37{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours before test. Bending strength and tensile strength were measured by an universal testing machine(Instron 4301, Instron Corp.). Penetration distribution on fiber was observed by scanning electron microscopy(JSM 840A, Jeol Ltd). Results: The bending strength and modulus were increased by 30% after adding fiber glass on denture base resins. Tensile strength showed significant increasing by adding fiber glass on denture base resins. Conclusion: In this study, Addition of silanized fiber in denture base resins were improved physical properties. we confirmed the fiber glass possibility of the replacement about conventional materials.

  • The current solution to the problem of using cementitious material for sealing purposes in a final radioactive waste repository is to develop a low-pH cement grout. In this study, the material properties of a low-pH cement grout based on a recipe used at ONKALO are investigated by considering such factors as pH variation, compressive strength, dynamic modulus, and hydraulic conductivity by using silica fume and micro-cement. From the pH measurements of the hardened cement grout, the required pH (< pH 11) is obtained after 130 days of curing. Although the engineering properties of the low-pH cement grout used in this study are inferior to those of conventional high-pH cement grout, the utilization of silica fume and micro-cement effectively meets the long-term environmental and durability requirements for cement grout in a radioactive waste repository.

  • The digital signage display is actively researched as the next generation of large FPD. To commercialize those digital signage display, the manufacturing cost must be downed with printing method instead of conventional photolithography. Here, we demonstrate a reverse offset printed TFT electrodes for the digital signage display. For the fabricated source/drain and gate electrode, we used Ag ink, silicone blanket, Clich$\acute{e}$ and reverse offset printer. We printed uniform TFT electrode patterns with narrow line width(10 ${\mu}m$ range) and thin thickness(nm range). In the end the printing source/drain and gate electrode are successfully achieved by optimization of experimental conditions such as Clich$\acute{e}$ surface treatment, ink coating process, delay time, off/set process and curing temperature. Also, we checked that the printing align accuracy was within 5 ${\mu}m$.

  • This study was performed for elucidating the effects on surface polishing of composite resins. In this study, Silux(microfilled), Graft(hybrid), Bisfil- I (hybrid posterior) and Hi-pol(conventional) were used. Sixty specimens were made with 4 brands of composite resins and Optilux system in $2.0{\times}1.3{\times}1.0cm$ resin block which has a cavity with 0.5cm diameter and 0.5cm depth. Polishing was done with #600 sand paper and Soflex, Super-snap, Micron finishing system, or Composite polishing kit. Final polished surfaces were measured by roughness tester(Kasaka Lab. Ltd., Japan) and image analyser(Omnimet Image Analyser, Buehler, USA). The results were as follows, 1. The celluloid strip produced the smoothest surfaces. 2. Light curing microfilled composite resin, Silux, had smoother surface than any others. 3. The surfaces polished by Soflex were smoothest. 4. Aluminum oxide disk, Soflex and Super-Snap, made smoother surface than diamond bur, M.F.S., or silicon point, Composite polishing kit. 5. The roughness values of surface polished by M.F.S. composed of diamond burs, were less than those of Composite polishing kit made from silicone points.

  • Bonding strength of a thermal sprayed coating is difficult to measure using a conventional pull-off test method. Scratch test is a potential alternative testing method. An adhesive and a cohesive bond strength of the coating can be measured by the pull-off test while the scratch test performed on the cross-section of the thermal sprayed coating can only demonstrate the cohesive bond strength of the coating. Nevertheless, it is still beneficial to perform the scratch testing on the cross-section of the coating for the sake of comparison thus providing an alternative to the pull-off test. The scratch test method can reduce testing time and cost in the long run due to a significant cost reduction in consumables and energy and time saving from the curing step of the glue used in the pull-off test. This research investigates the possibility of using the scratch test to measure the cohesive bond strength of Mo/NiCrBSi composite coating. The results from the pull-off test and the scratch test indicate that the cohesive bond strengths of the Mo composite coating show similar trend and that the cohesive bond strength are increased when increasing NiCrBSi content.

  • The concrete work of bridge decks is performed in a high place, which may reduce safety and productivity. In addition, the conventional method for deck forms require a great deal of manpower, and a form (sheathing) board is damaged when removed after curing. As a result, the concrete deck work of bridge construction becomes the cause of delayed construction and increased cost. To solve these problems, SMART form, a system form, is developed. SMART form is a temporary device for easier installation and removal, by mounting it to the lower flange of a bridge girder and using a mechanical behavior of the form system for deck concrete pouring. For stable installation and removal of the developed SMART form, geometric behaviors should be analyzed to prove its validity. Furthermore, the validity of geometric behaviors when the SMART form size is altered in response to the various arrangement of bridge girders should be proved. Thus, the study is intended to analyze the geometric validity of the form system for bridge deck concrete pouring. The structural stability of the form system for bridge deck concrete pouring can be secured, which will be applied in the field.

  • Interfacial and microfailure properties of carbon liber/bismaleimide (BMI) composites were evaluated using both tensile fragmentation and compressive Broutman tests with acoustic emission (AE). Since BMI is rather difficult matrix to apply for the conventional fragmentation test because of its too low elongation and too brittle and high modulus properties, dual matrix composite system was applied. After carbon fiber/BMI composite was prepared for rod shape by controlling differing curing stage, composites rod was embedded in toughened epoxy as outer matrix. The typical microfailure modes including fiber break, matrix cracking, and interlayer failure were observed during tensile testing, whereas the diagonal slippage in fiber ends was observed during compressive test. On the other hand, AE amplitudes of BMI matrix fracture were higher than carbon fiber tincture under tensile test because BMI matrix has very brittle and high modulus. The waveform of signals coming from BMI matrix fractures was consistent with AE amplitude result under tensile tests.

  • We have manufactured a photoresist which has excellent dispersity and good applying property due to 330 cps of viscosity for environment-friendly and economical maskless screen plate making. And the photoresist applied on the screen stretched was exposed with mask by UV-LED light source so we could manufacture the photoresist which proper for the UV light source. And it was developed by air spray with $1.7\;kgf/cm^2$ of injection pressure. Because of the excellence of power and resolution of the UV-LED light sourse, the pencil hardness and solvent resistance of curing photoresist film were excellent as those of conventional photoresist film. Moreover the $100{\mu}m$-width stripe image which has sharp edges was formed. So we confirmed a possibility of dry development process by air spray method.
