  • In this paper, a design and control of the safe arm with passive compliant joints(PCJ) is presented. Each PCJ has a magneto- rheological damper and maximum 6 springs. Compliance analysis in Cartesian space is performed with the compliance ellipsoid; this analysis shows a map between compliance in the joint space and compliance in Cartesian space. Vibration control of the arm using an input shaping technique is also presented; the results of a simulation and an experiment prove that a fast motion of the safe arm without residual vibration can be performed.

  • In this study, active control magnetic actuator for reducing vibration of rotor system is performed. Identification, modeling, simulation, control system design, and evaluation of active magnetic damper system have been researched. Power amplifier modeling, connected magnetic actuator and augmented by system identification, is included to establish a magnetic damper simulation which provides close performance correspondence to the physical plant. A magnetic actuator, digital controller using DSP(Digital Signal Processor), and bipolar operational power supply/amplifiers are developed to show the effectiveness of reducing rotor vibration. Also the curve fitting procedure to obtain the transfer function of frequency dependent components is developed. Two kinds of test are executed as sliding and oil bearing. Results presented in this paper will provide a well-defined technical parameters in designing magnetic damper system for the proposed rotor.

  • This paper provides a practical control scheme called three-step input method in order to minimize both robot response time and the resulting residual vibration when the robot manipulator reaches its defined end point. This work is concerned with defining a simple practical method to utilize step inputs to achieve optimum response. The optimum response is achieved by using a self- adjusting input command function that is obtained during a real time processing . The practicality of this control scheme is demonstrated by using an analog computer to simulate a simulate a simple flexible robot and conventional servo controller. The experiments focus on point-to-point movement. Also, this method requires little computational effort through the intelligent use of conventional servo control technology and the robot's vibration characteristics.

  • This paper proposes new searching algorithm for the optimal PD gains of flexible rotor supported by active magnetic bearings. Under the assumption of linearized bearing parameters with respect to PD gains, the performance index in quadratic form is defined and steepest descent method is adopted for determining local minimum. Moreover, the eigenpair sensitivity concept is utilized to evaluate the sensitivity of performance index. To evaluate the effectiveness of suggested algorithm, the finite element model is constructed and its reduced model is retained in modal domain. Given starting gains, the optimal gains are successfully found and the control performance is demonstrated by simulation to show the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • Decentralized Dynamic Surface Control(DDSC) for a class of nonlinear system interconnected via sensor network is presented in this paper. While a centralized design approach of DSC was developed in [1], the decentralized approach to deal with complex large-scale systems is proposed under the assumption that interconnected functions among subsystems are known via sensor network. As shown in [2], the separation principle for DDSC will allow us to design an estimation filter independently. Furthermore, the theoretical results are used to design and simulate an active vibration isolator under the assumption that many embedded sensors are distributed and communicate each other via wireless communication.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to apply the Input Shaping Technique (IST) to multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems. In MIMO systems, there is a high possibility of multi-mode residual vibration. The IST filter designed for this multi mode may need a longer time to suppress the residual vibration. Previous works prove that we can shorten the time lag by using negative sequence. This negative sequence, however, causes another problem - it requires excessive control input. In this paper, we provide a remedy to reduce the size of control input by limiting the reference input by limiting the reference input and its derivative. The result of simulations and experiments on a 2 link flexible arm confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this study, we propose a method of digital control to drive the vibrating gyroscope using electromagnetic-force. The gyroscope requires accurate vibration control and signal processing for high performance. Conventional PLL based analog controller is not only difficult to manufacture but also weak to outer environment such as temperatures, air pressures and etc. But digital controller using DSP can consistently maintain the cylinder vibration and perform digital signal processing regardless of disturbance. DSP's PWM function was utilized to control the vibration, and rotation-detecting algorithm was developed. Finally, the controller was verified by simulation and experiment using rotation-rate table.

  • In this paper, seismic qualification analysis for the Plant control Panel is carried out to confirm the structural integrity under the seismic conditions represented by required response spectra(RRS). The finite element method(FEM) is used for the analysis and a mode combination method is adopted to obtain a more reliable spectrum analysis results. In addition, the experimental analysis is performed to compare the reliability of the analytical results. The analysis results shows that the plant control panel system is designed to have the dynamic rigidity with no resonance frequency below 33 Hz. The analytically calculated maximum stress of the plant control panel system is $36\%$ of the field strength of material, thus it can be shown that the system has a stable structure for the seismic load.

  • A semi-passive vibration isolation control method for enhancing pointing performance of on-board payload has been derived, and its effectiveness has been evaluated through numerical simulation. The semi-passive control law proposed in this study was derived so as to obtain the same performance as a high passive damping at low frequencies and obtain the same performance as a passive low damping at high frequencies. In the numerical simulation, the intended vibration isolation performance of the semi-passive control law has been obtained.
