  • Data fusion approach is investigated to avoid suction in the left ventricular assist system (LVAS) using a nonpulsatile pump. LVAS requires careful control of pump speed to support the heart while preventing suction in the left ventricle and providing proper cardiac output at adequate perfusion pressure to the body. Since the implanted sensors are usually unreliable for long-term use, a sensorless approach is adopted to detect suction. The pump model is developed to provide the load coefficient as a necessary signal to the data fusion system without the implanted sensors. The load coefficient of the pump mimics the pulsatility property of the actual pump flow and provides more comparable information than the pump flow after suction occurs. Four signals are generated from the load coefficient as inputs to the data fusion system for suction detection and a neural fuzzy method is implemented to construct the data fusion system. The data fusion approach has a good ability to classify suction status and it can also be used to design a controller for LVAS.

  • This paper introduces an integration of Product Data Management (PDM) and Software Configuration Management (SCM). PDM and SCM have supported development of mechanical products and software products respectively. The importance of software components in the current products increases rapidly since the software enables the products to satisfy various customer requirements efficiently. Therefore the current product development needs enhanced product data management that can control both the hardware and software data seamlessly. This paper proposes an extended product data model for integrating SCM into PDM. The extension enables PDM document management to support the version control for software development. It also enables engineers to control both the software and hardware parts as integrated data objects during product configuration and engineering change management. The proposed model is implemented by using a commercial Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and a development of a network based robot system is tested by the implemented product development environment.

  • Recently, as the field of construction industrial is enlarged and the blanket control system is formed, the process plan considered from initial process formation to construction cost must be systematic and rational. So we have to propose and compose the new process formation system that divides the intention decisive property of construction data, its relationship and the data property according to process definitely and can express and control easily the public ownership of construction data and network process under the peculation control. So this study decides the field formation and construction data of the work according to the ordering and contract way to establish the process data system for the process plan, shows that the lot theory is necessary to form the economical construction field and proposes that the integrated formation system of construction data that is made by code system must be established.

  • The Optical Wide-field patroL-Network (OWL-Net) is a Korean optical space surveillance system used to track and monitor objects in space. In this study, the characteristics of four Initial Orbit Determination (IOD) methods were analyzed using artificial observational data from Low Earth Orbit satellites, and an appropriate IOD method was selected for use as the initial value of Precise Orbit Determination using OWL-Net data. Various simulations were performed according to the properties of observational data, such as noise level and observational time interval, to confirm the characteristics of the IOD methods. The IOD results produced via the OWL-Net observational data were then compared with Two Line Elements data to verify the accuracy of each IOD method. This paper, thus, suggests the best method for IOD, according to the properties of angles-only data, for use even when the ephemeris of a satellite is unknown.

  • On large-scale data analysis platforms deployed on cloud infrastructures over the Internet, the instability of the data transfer time and the dynamics of the processing rate require a more sophisticated data distribution scheme which maximizes parallel efficiency by achieving the balanced load among participated computing elements and by eliminating the idle time of each computing element. In particular, under the constraints that have the real-time and limited data buffer (in-memory storage) are given, it needs more controllable mechanism to prevent both the overflow and the underflow of the finite buffer. In this paper, we propose an auto regulated data provisioning model based on receiver-driven data pull model. On this model, we provide a synchronized data replenishment mechanism that implicitly avoids the data buffer overflow as well as explicitly regulates the data buffer underflow by adequately adjusting the buffer resilience. To estimate the optimal size of buffer resilience, we exploits an adaptive buffer resilience control scheme that minimizes both data buffer space and idle time of the processing elements based on directly measured sample path analysis. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides allowable approximation compared to the numerical results. Also, it is suitably efficient to apply for such a dynamic environment that cannot postulate the stochastic characteristic for the data transfer time, the data processing rate, or even an environment where the fluctuation of the both is presented.

  • Multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control charts for monitoring the variance-covariance matrix are investigated. A variable sampling interval (VSI) feature is considered in these charts. Multivariate EWMA control charts for monitoring the variance-covariance matrix are compared on the basis of their average time to signal (ATS) performances. The numerical results show that multivariate VSI EWMA control charts are more efficient than corrsponding multivariate fixed sampling interval (FSI) EWMA control charts.

  • The design of a reliable and failsafe control system requires that sensor failures be detected and identified within acceptable time limit so that system malfunction can be prevented. This paper presents a model-based approach to sensor fault detection with applications to vehicle stability control systems. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated through test data-based evaluation. Vehicle test data-based evaluation results show that the proposed fault management scheme can be used for the design of a failsafe VSCs.

  • This paper analyzes centralized sampled-data control systems with feedback loops which are closed through a digital computer which generates deadbeat control law. Intermittant computer interruptions result in failure to update the desired deadbeat design procedures for the deadbeat control law under normal operation of the control computer and the assumption of any admissible computer interruption are resented. A method that guarantees asymptotic stability under all admissible computer interruptions also is presented.

  • Recently, data access control policies have not been applied for authorized or unauthorized persons properly and information leakage incidents have occurred due to database security vulnerabilities. In the traditional database access control methods, administrators grant permissions for accessing database objects to users. However, these methods couldn't be applied for diverse access control policies to the database. In addition, another database security method which uses data encryption is difficult to utilize data indexing. Thus, this paper proposes an enhanced database access control system via a packet analysis method between client and database server in network to apply diverse security policies. The proposed security system can be applied the applications with access control policies related to specific factors such as date, time, SQL string, the number of result data and etc. And it also assures integrity via a public key certificate and MAC (Message Authentication Code) to prevent modification of user information and query sentences.
