  • The increasing needs for higher cargo capacity in the container vessels' fleet has led to ship builder's demand for higher power output rating engine to meet the propulsion requirement, thus, leading to the development of super large two stroke low speed diesel engines. This large sized bore engines with more than 12 cylinders are capable of delivering power output up to more than 100,000 bhp at maximum continuous rating. The thrust variation force due to axial vibration occurring in propulsion shafting of these ships are transmitted to ship structure via thrust bearing. This force may vibrate the super structure of ship in the fore-aft direction and the fatigue strength of crank shaft can be decreased by additional bending stress increase in crank shaft pin and journal. In this paper, the axial vibration of propulsion shafting system on the 14RT-flex96C super large diesel engine with 14 cylinders is identified by theoretical analysis and vibration measurement.

Influence of different parameters on nonlinear friction-induced vibration characteristics of water lubricated stern bearings

  • To investigate the mechanism of friction-induced vibration and noise of ship water lubricated stern bearings, a two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) nonlinear self-excited vibration model is established. The novelty of this work lies in the detailed analysis of influence of different parameters on the stability and nonlinear vibration characteristics of the system, which provides a theoretical basis for the various friction vibration and noise phenomenon and has a very important directive meaning for low noise design of water lubricated stern bearings. The results reveal that the change of any parameter, such as rotating speed of shaft, contact pressure, friction coefficient, system damping and stiffness, has an important influence on the stability and nonlinear response of the system. The vibration amplitudes of the system increase as (a) rotating speed of shaft, contact pressure, and the ratio of static friction coefficient to dynamic friction coefficient increase and (b) the transmission damping between motor and shaft decreases. The frequency spectrum of the system is modulated by the first mode natural frequency, which is continuous multi-harmonics of the first mode natural frequency. The response of the system presents a quasi-periodic motion.

광섬유 센서의 보링 바 삽입에 의한 진동측정 (The Vibration Measurement of Boring Process by Using the Optical Fiber Sensor at inside of Boring Bar)

  • Chattering in cutting operations are usually a cumbersome part of the manufacturing process in mechanical. Particular, machining performance such as that of the boring process is limited by cutting condition at the movable components. Among various sources of chatter vibration, detrimental point in cutting condition is found a mechanical condition on overhang. It limits cutting speed, depth, surface roughness and tool wear failure as result because the all properties are varying with the metal removal process. In this case, we have to observe the resonance frequencies of a boring bar for continuous cutting. In the established research, boring bar vibration of cutting system has been measured with the aid of accelerometer. However, the inherent parameters of internal turning operations are severely limit for the real time monitoring on accelerometers. At this point, this paper is proposed other method for real time monitoring during continuous cutting with optical fiber at the inside of boring bar. This method has been used a plastic fiber in the special jig on boring bar by based on experimental modal analysis. In this study, improvement of monitoring system on continuous internal cutting was attempted using optical fiber sensor of inside type because usually chattering is investigated experimentally measuring the variation in chip thickness. It is demonstrated that the optical fiber sensor is possibility to measure of chattering with real time in boring process.

  • 이 논문에서는 이동하는 질량체의 연직 방향에 대한 관성 효과를 고려하여 보의 진동을 해석할 수 있는 유한요소해석 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 정밀한 상호작용 해석을 요하지 않는 경우에 계산의 효율성을 높이는 방법으로서, 이동하는 질량체의 관성 효과를 운동방정식에 연계시키고 질량체와 보의 상호작용력은 외부 하중으로만 고려한다. 범용 유한요소해석 소프트웨어인 Abaqus를 이용하여 시간 영역 해석을 수행하고 보의 절점과 이동하는 강체 질량의 절점 변위를 다지점 구속조건으로 연계하여 해석하는 방법을 제시하였다. 기존 해석적 방법에 의한 해와 비교하여 제안하는 방법을 검증하고 보행하중 모델을 이용한 이동 보행 하중해석에서 보행자의 질량 효과를 살펴보기 위한 간단한 연속 보 모델에 대한 해석 결과를 제시하였다.

근접장 굴착진동이 도시철도 구조물에 미치는 동적영향 연구 (A Study on the Dynamic Effect Influencing to Urban Railway Structures by Vibration from Near-field Excavating Work)

  • 본 연구에서는 도시철도에 인접하여 암반굴착공사를 실시할 때 발생하는 지반진동이 도시철도 구조물에 미치는 영향을 수치 해석을 통하여 검증하였다. 암반굴착공사는 발파공사와 굴착기계공사의 두 경우에 대하여 실시하였다. 발파공사는 굴착부지가 넓은 경우에 정밀진동제어방법과 소규모진동제어방법에 대한 해석을 실시하고 실무에서 기준처럼 사용하고 있는 발파진동 영향권을 검증하였다. 이 발파진동 영향권에서 제시하는 발파 이격거리는 범위가 매우 커서 범위 값 중 최소치에 발파점이 위치할 때 진동한계치를 넘어갈 수 있다. 굴착기계공사는 천공공사를 위한 어스오거와 착암공사를 위한 브레이커에 의한 지반진동이 도시철도 구조물에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 시험시공을 통하여 어스오거와 브레이커의 지반진동을 측정하고 보정을 거쳐서 수치해석을 위한 입력하중을 산출하였다. 수치해석은 터널구조, 개착식 박스구조, 고가교량구조에 대하여 실시하였다. 터널구조의 해석에서 결과는 어스오거는 현장 추정치와 비슷하나 브레이커에서는 현장에서 얻어지는 추정치보다 작다. 발파공 사이의 충전매질을 통한 충격파 전파 효과를 수치적으로 시뮬레이션하고 검증하였다. 개착식 박스구조에서는 굴착공과 박스사이의 매립토가 지반진동을 증폭시키는 형상이 발생하며 진동파가 박스구조물에 도달하면 일정한 값으로 수렴한다. 고가교량의 경우에는 진동하중이 상대적으로 작은 어스오거 지반진동은 파일기초에 도달하면서 작아지는데, 상대적으로 크고 주기적인 브레이커 지반진동은 교량 상부구조에 추가적인 지반 진동하중으로 작용함을 볼 수 있다.

  • Railroad noise is one of the main causes of environmental impact. Whenever a new railroad line is planned or a housing project near an existing railroad is proposed, an estimate of the relevant noise levels is usually required. For this, it is necessary to quantify those paramters that affect the railroad noise. This paper presents an accurate prediction of railroad noise.

  • In order to check the validity of nonlinear normal modes of continuous, systems by means of the energy-based formulation, we consider a beam with a nonlinear boundary condition. The initial and boundary e c6nsl of a linear partial differential equation and a nonlinear boundary condition is reduced to a linear boundary value problem consisting of an 8th order ordinary differential equations and linear boundary conditions. After obtaining the asymptotic solution corresponding to each normal mode, we compare this with numerical results by the finite element method.

  • Nonlinear dynamic equation of a 4-axis rigid rotor supported by two an-isotropic magnetic bearings is derived via Hamilton's principle. It is transformed to a state-space form for the standard Η$_{\infty}$ control problem. we present a robust Η$_{\infty}$ control design methods of continuous and discrete LMI-based approaches and improve performance using loopshaping.
