무개형 콘테이너선 설계에 관한 고찰 (The Examination for Design of Hatchcoverless Containerships)

  • In recent years the hatchcoverless(or open-top) containerships have been evolving as a promising new concept for enhanced containership operations. The design concept of the hatchcoverless containership is innovative and appears to be worthwhile. especially from an operational viewpoint. The hatchcover and container lashing system have been eliminated and the containers are stacked in open hold fitted with cell guides. Thus this design concept can provide a more efficient and economically viable fleet due to the reduced time and cost of loading and unloading operations. Therefore turnaround time in port is also greatly reduced. This examination provides. brief background, advantages, brief review of new building containership, highlights of the pertinent areas requiring special consideration and recommendations of possible analyses herein.

"세계컨테이너선복량기준지수" 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of "World Containership capacity(in TEU terms) Standards Index; WCSI")

  • 세계 해운기업들은 경영악화로 구조조정의 대상이 되고 있다. 세계컨테이너물동량 대비 세계컨테이너 선복량 과다가 주요 원인이다. 이는 세계컨테이너물동량 대비 필요한 선복량을 산출하는 기준이 없어 선복량을 조절할 수 있는 기능이 부족하기 때문이다. 이 연구는 "세계컨테이너선복량기준지수 'World Containership capacity (in TEU terms) Standards Index; WCSI'"와 "세계컨테이너선복량예측지수 'World Containership capacity (in TEU terms) Expected Index; WCEI'"란 용어와 지수를 개발하는 것이 목적이다. 개발 된 'WCSI'와 'WCEI'를 비교하면 아래와 같다. WCSI (평균항차 9.3) > WCEI 선복량 과잉 WCSI (평균항차 9.3) = WCEI 선복량 적정 WCSI (평균항차 9.3) < WCEI 선복량 부족 WCSI=HRCI $1000{\pm}150$ 근사치 'WCSI'와 'WCEI'를 이용하면 물동량대비 적절한 선복량을 산정할 수 있다. 그 결과 선박발주시기, 발주량 등을 예측할 수 있다. 'WCSI'와 'WCEI'를 계속 발전시켜 세계 해운기업 및 지원기업들이 효과적인 경영전략수립으로 위기를 극복하였으면 한다.

  • Recent growth in global economic situation has led dramatic increase in new buildings of large containerships. These increased new building orders have brought keen concerns of developing and improving the quality of design and increasing the productivity of the vessel in order to satisfy the ship Owner's various requirements. For the increment of productivity and quality of containership, the plastic type bearing pad of cargo hatch cover has been investigated intensively for years with the supplier of cargo hatch cover. The result of investigation showed that there are numbers of advantages for the Owner and Builder over the existing bronze bearing pads which are better corrosion resistance long life time, low friction coefficient, easy maintenance, easy installation, better production lead time and low maintenance cost.

An Industrial Manipulator for Shipbuilding;Off-Line Programming and Open Architecture

  • In this paper, to improve the efficiency of welding and user convenience in the shipbuilding industry, a PC-based off-line programming (OLP) technique and the development of a robot transfer unit are presented. The developed OLP system is capable of not only robot motion simulations but also automatic generations of a series of robot programs. The strength of the developed OLP system lies in its flexibility in handling the changes of the welding robot's target objects. Moreover, for a precise transfer of the robot to a desired location, an auxiliary mobile platform named a robot-origin-transfer-unit (ROTU) was developed. To enhance the cornering capability of the platform in a narrow area, the developed ROTU is equipped with 2 steering wheels and 1 driving wheel. Both the OLP and the ROTU were field-tested and their performances were proven successful.

LNG 운반선의 구형 화물창 슬로싱 해석 (Sloshing Load Analysis in Spherical Tank of LNG Carrier)

  • Sloshing loads, produced by the violent liquid free-surface motions inside the cargo tank have become an important design parameter in ship building industry since there have been demands for the increased sizes of the cargo containment system of LNG carriers. In this study, sloshing impact pressure acting on the shell of the spherical cargo tank of an LNG carrier as well as dynamic pressure and flow behavior around the pump tower located at the center of the tank have been calculated. Comparative numerical sloshing simulations for a spherical LNG tank using 2-D LR.FLUIDS which is based on the finite difference method and 3-D MSC.DYTRAN which is capable of calculating nonlinear fluid-structure interaction have been carried out. A method of calculating sloshing-induced dynamic loads and the subsequent structural strength analysis for pump tower of a spherical LNG carrier using MSC. DYTRAN and MSC.NASTRAN have been presented.
