전기응집-MBR 공정의 전류밀도와 접촉시간이 막 오염에 미치는 영향과 막 오염 저감 속도론적 고찰 (Effect of current density and contact time on membrane fouling in electrocoagulation-MBR and their kinetic studies on fouling reduction rate)

  • Recently EC-MBR (Elctrocoagulation - Membrane Bio Reactor) has been suggested as one of alternative processes to overcome membrane fouling problems. Most important operational parameters in the EC-MBR are known to current density and contact time. Their effect on membrane filtration performances has been reported well, however, quantitative interrelationship between both parameters not been investigated yet. The purpose of this study is to give a kinetic model suggesting the current density and the contact time required to reduce the membrane fouling. The 4 different set of current densities (2.5, 6, 12 and $24A/m^2$) and contact times (0, 2, 6 and 12 hr) were selected as operational parameters. After each electro-coagulation under the 16 different conditions, a series of membrane filtration was carried out. The membrane fouling decreased as the current density and contact time increased, Total fouling resistances under different conditions, $R_t(=R_c+R_f)$ were calculated and compared to those of the controls ($R_0$), which were calculated from the data of experiments without electro-coagulation. A kinetic approach for the fouling reduction rate ($R_t/R_0$) was carried out and the equation ${\rho}^{0.46}_it=7.0$ was obtained, which means that the product of current density and the contact time needed to reduce the fouling in certain amounts (in this study, 10% of fouling reduction) is always constant.

수직통로를 극복하기 위한 협소구역 이동용 다관절 로봇 설계 (Design of Articulated Mobile Robot to Overcome Vertical Passages in Narrow Space)

  • The robot to search and rescue is used in narrow space where human cannot approach. In case of this robot, it can overcome obstacles such as wrecks or stairs etc. Also, this robot can do various locomotion for each object. In this reason, an articulated robot has advantages comparing with one module robot. However, the existing articulated robot has limits to overcome vertical passages. For expanding contacted territory of robot, a novel mechanism is demanded. In this paper, the novel mechanism of articulated mobile robot is designed for moving level ground and vertical passages. This paper proposes to change wheel alignment. The robot needs two important motions for passing vertical passages like pipe. One is a motion to press wheels at wall for not falling into gravity direction. The other is a motion that wheels contact a vertical direction of wall's tangential direction for reducing loss of force. The mechanism of the robot focused that two motions can be acted to use just one motor. Length of each link of robot is optimized that wheels contact a vertical direction of wall's tangential direction through kinematic modeling of each link. The force of pressing wall of robot is calculated through dynamic modeling. This robot composes four modules. This mechanism is confirmed by dynamic simulation using ADAMS program. The articulated mobile robot is elaborated based on the results of kinematic modeling and dynamic simulation.

멀티 핀/핑거 FinFET 트랜지스터의 열 저항 해석과 모델링 (Analysis and modeling of thermal resistance of multi fin/finger FinFETs)

  • 본 논문에서는 소스와 드레인의 구조가 육각형인 FinFET에서 구조 변수 및 핀/핑거 개수 증가에 따른 열 저항 모델을 제안한다. 소자의 크기가 감소하여 발열 효과 및 열 특성의 영향이 커졌으며, 이를 분석하기 위해 소자의 열 저항은 중요한 요소이다. 열 저항 모델은 소자에서 열이 생성되는 열원과 열이 빠져나가는 contact를 설정했으며, 도메인은 열원과 4 부분의 소스, 드레인, 게이트, 서브스트레이트 contact를 통해 나누어진다. 또 각각의 contact 열 저항 모델은 TCAD의 시뮬레이션 결과의 온도 및 열 흐름을 분석하여 해석이 용이한 형태로 세분화하였다. 도메인들은 그 구조에 따라 구조 변수를 통한 적분 및 등각 매핑 방식을 기반으로 모델링하였다. 먼저 싱글 핀으로 열 저항을 분석하여 모델링하였으며, 멀티 핀/핑거의 열 저항 모델의 정확도를 높이기 위해 채널증가에 따른 파라미터의 변화를 적용하였다. 제안한 열 저항 모델은 3D Technology CAD 시뮬레이션을 해석하여 얻은 열 저항 결과와 비교하였으며, 싱글 핀 및 멀티 핀의 전체 열 저항 모델은 3 % 이하의 오차를 얻었다. 제안한 열 저항은 핀/핑거 개수의 증가에 따른 열 저항을 예측할 수 있으며, 발열효과 및 열 특성 분석을 계산하여 회로 특성을 개선할 수 있다.

Modeling of Co(II) adsorption by artificial bee colony and genetic algorithm

  • In this work, it was investigated the usability of artificial bee colony (ABC) and genetic algorithm (GA) in modeling adsorption of Co(II) onto drinking water treatment sludge (DWTS). DWTS, obtained as inevitable byproduct at the end of drinking water treatment stages, was used as an adsorbent without any physical or chemical pre-treatment in the adsorption experiments. Firstly, DWTS was characterized employing various analytical procedures such as elemental, FT-IR, SEM-EDS, XRD, XRF and TGA/DTA analysis. Then, adsorption experiments were carried out in a batch system and DWTS's Co(II) removal potential was modelled via ABC and GA methods considering the effects of certain experimental parameters (initial pH, contact time, initial Co(II) concentration, DWTS dosage) called as the input parameters. The accuracy of ABC and GA method was determined and these methods were applied to four different functions: quadratic, exponential, linear and power. Some statistical indices (sum square error, root mean square error, mean absolute error, average relative error, and determination coefficient) were used to evaluate the performance of these models. The ABC and GA method with quadratic forms obtained better prediction. As a result, it was shown ABC and GA can be used optimization of the regression function coefficients in modeling adsorption experiments.

Analysis of quasi-brittle materials at mesoscopic level using homogenization model

  • The modeling of the mechanical behavior of quasi-brittle materials is still a challenge task, mainly in failure processes when fracture and plasticity phenomena become important actors in dissipative processes which occur in materials like concrete, as instance. Many homogenization-based approaches have been proposed to deal with heterogeneous materials in the last years. In this context, a computational homogenization modeling for concrete is presented in this work using the concept of Representative Volume Element (RVE). The material is considered as a three-phase material consisting of interface zone (ITZ), matrix and inclusions-each constituent modeled by an independent constitutive model. The Representative Volume Element (RVE) consists of inclusions idealized as circular shapes symmetrically and nonsymmetrically placed into the specimen. The interface zone is modeled by means of cohesive contact finite elements. The inclusion is modeled as linear elastic and matrix region is considered as elastoplastic material. A set of examples is presented in order to show the potentialities and limitations of the proposed modeling. The consideration of the fracture processes in the ITZ is fundamental to capture complex macroscopic characteristics of the material using simple constitutive models at mesoscopic level.

다물체 동역학을 이용한 타워크레인 운송 모델링 방법 연구 (Examination of Modeling Methods for Tower Crane Transportation using Multibody Dynamics)

  • When a tower crane is carried by a transporter in shipyard, the height and length of the tower crane should be adjusted to meet the safety guidelines. Since the guidelines came from the field experience, the safety limitation needs to be analyzed by a computer simulation. In this paper, modeling methods are addressed to implement the appropriate transportation simulation of a tower crane. For the relation between the tower crane and the transporter, normal contact force, friction force, and kinematic constraints are compared. Assignment of relevant linear acceleration and angular velocity is considered for the transporter to start or move on an inclined ground surface. By using the examined modeling methods, the dynamic motion of tower crane transportation is analyzed by a dynamic simulation program, and comparison between the simulation result and analytic solution is made to verify the feasibility of the modeling methods.

MODELING OF NONLINEAR CYCLIC LOAD BEHAVIOR OF I-SHAPED COMPOSITE STEEL-CONCRETE SHEAR WALLS OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

  • In recent years steel-concrete composite shear walls have been widely used in enormous high-rise buildings. Due to high strength and ductility, enhanced stiffness, stable cycle characteristics and large energy absorption, such walls can be adopted in the auxiliary building; surrounding the reactor containment structure of nuclear power plants to resist lateral forces induced by heavy winds and severe earthquakes. This paper demonstrates a set of nonlinear numerical studies on I-shaped composite steel-concrete shear walls of the nuclear power plants subjected to reverse cyclic loading. A three-dimensional finite element model is developed using ABAQUS by emphasizing on constitutive material modeling and element type to represent the real physical behavior of complex shear wall structures. The analysis escalates with parametric variation in steel thickness sandwiching the stipulated amount of concrete panels. Modeling details of structural components, contact conditions between steel and concrete, associated boundary conditions and constitutive relationships for the cyclic loading are explained. Later, the load versus displacement curves, peak load and ultimate strength values, hysteretic characteristics and deflection profiles are verified with experimental data. The convergence of the numerical outcomes has been discussed to conclude the remarks.

실공간 사용 공기조화가용 열교환기의 공기측 파울링 특성 예측 (Prediction of the Air-side Particulate Fouling in Finned-Tube Heat Exchangers of Air Conditioners used in the Field)

  • The air-side particulate fouling in the heat exchangers of HVAC applications degrades the performance of cooling capacity, pressure drop across a heat exchanger, and indoor air quality. Indoor and outdoor air contaminants foul heat exchangers. An empirical modeling equation is derived from the experimental results using accelerated tests and it shows good predictions of the fouling characteristics of the slitted finned tube heat exchangers. However the modeling equation predicts only the fouling characteristics of new heat exchangers and it can not predicts fouling characteristics obtained from actual field data. The purpose of this study is to modify the previous modeling equation using the actual field data Therefore an modified modeling equation is proposed and it shows good predictions of the actual fouling characteristics of finned-tube heat exchangers.

3차원적 전류 흐름을 고려한 FinFET의 기생 Source/Drain 저항 모델링 (Modeling of Parasitic Source/Drain Resistance in FinFET Considering 3D Current Flow)

  • 본 논문에서는 RSD(Raised Source/Drain)구조를 가지는 FinFET에서 3차원적 전류 흐름을 고려한 소스와 드레인의 해석적 저항모델을 제시한다. FinFET은 Fin을 통해 전류가 흐르기 때문에 소스/드레인의 기생저항이 크고 채널을 포함한 전체저항에서 중요한 부분을 차지한다. 제안하는 모델은 3차원적 전류흐름을 고려하여 contact부터 channel 직전 영역까지의 소스/드레인 저항을 나타내며 contact저항과 spreading저항의 합으로 이루어져 있다. Contact저항은 전류의 흐름을 고려한 가이드라인을 통해 작은 저항의 병렬합으로 모델링되고 spreading저항은 적분을 통해 구현했다. 제안된 모델은 3D numerical solver인 Raphael의 실험결과를 통해 검증했다. 본 연구에서 제안된 기생저항 모델을 BSIM-CMG와 같은 압축모델에 구현하여 DC 및 AC 성능 예측의 정확도를 높일 수 있을 것이다.

대변형을 하는 고무 부품의 동적 거동 (A Dynamic Behavior of Rubber Component with Large Deformation)

  • 고무 성분에 대한 대변형 및 강성은 비선형 및 대변형의 해석 결과로 나타낼 수 있다. 또한 고무는 Mooney-Rivlin의 모델로서 적용되고 고무들 사이에서 자기 접촉이 성립되어지는데 강성체 및 고무 사이에서는 마찰력이 있게 된다. 본 연구에서 사용된 비선형 시뮬레이션 해석은 여러 가지의 고무 성분들의 설계, 분석 그리고 개발에 널리 사용될 수 있다. 이러한 방법을 이용하면 새로운 고무 제품을 개발하는데 있어서 시간과 비용을 절감할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 고무 성분들의 분석은 특이한 재료의 모델링과 비선형 유한 요소 해석을 요하는데 금속 부품들에 대하여 해석하는 프로그램들과는 완전히 다르다. 본 연구의 목적은 대변형 및 비선형의 고무 부품을 해석하는데 있다.
