The international nuclear industry has undergone a lot of changes since the Fukushima, Chernobyl and TMI nuclear power plant accidents. However, there are still large and small component deficiencies at nuclear power plants in the world. There are many causes of electrical equipment defects. There are also factors that cause component failures due to human errors. This paper analyzed the root causes of failure and types of human error in 300 cases of electrical component failures. We analyzed the operating experience of electrical components by methods of root causes in K-HPES (Korean-version of Human Performance Enhancement System) and by methods of human error types in HuRAM+ (Human error-Related event root cause Analysis Method Plus). As a result of analysis, the most electrical component failures appeared as circuit breakers and emergency generators. The major causes of failure showed deterioration and contact failure of electrical components by human error of operations management. The causes of direct failure were due to aged components. Types of human error affecting the causes of electrical equipment failure are as follows. The human error type group I showed that errors of commission (EOC) were 97%, the human error type group II showed that slip/lapse errors were 74%, and the human error type group III showed that latent errors were 95%. This paper is meaningful in that we have approached the causes of electrical equipment failures from a comprehensive human error perspective and found a countermeasure against the root cause. This study will help human performance enhancement in nuclear power plants. However, this paper has done a lot of research on improving human performance in the maintenance field rather than in the design and construction stages. In the future, continuous research on types of human error and prevention measures in the design and construction sector will be required.
A new contactless Li-ion battery charging system was proposed. The conventional methods for charging Li-ion battery have some weak points. For example, there can be a contact failure, a poor waterproof, and a difficulty to standardize the battery charging systems. The new proposed system can overcome these weak points. The new charging system is composed of power transfer part and data transfer part. This paper focuses on the power transfer part for contactless battery charging. The power stage is mainly composed of PPRC(Push-pull Parallel Resonant Converter) and flyback converter. The new method of chaging Li-ion battery was proposed and PPRC + flyback-boost topology was analyzed. The proposed toplogy was tested under the constant voltage control and the constant current control which are adequate for charging Li-ion battery.
The main cause of electrical fires are caused due to short circuit and open circuit. This is generates an instantaneous electric arc or spark accompanied with such electric faults. These arcs generate a pressed wire, contact badness, and a weakness in the wire coating etc.. This research proposes a protection circuit to prevent open-phase accident due to contact failure of electromagnetic contactor, tracking arc fault, open-phase within the three-phase electrical control panel which is the most commonly applied in the industry. The proposed circuit also alarms and cuts off of power system when electrical faults occurs. In addition, the proposed circuit is validated by various electric accident simulator.
Dynamic Load/unload (L/UL) mechanism is an alternative to the contact start stop (CSS) technology which eliminates striction and wear failure modes associated with CSS. Inertia latch mechanism becomes important for mobile disk drives because of non operating shock performance. Various types of latch designs have been introduced in hard disk drives to limit a rotary actuator from sudden uncontrolled motion. In this paper, a single spring inertia latch is introduced for a small form optical disk drive, which uses a rotary actuator for moving an optical pick-up. A new small inertia latch with sin91e spring is designed to ensure both feasible and small size. The shock performance of the new inertia latch is experimentally verified.
In this study, gate leakage current mechanism has been analyzed for GaAs MESFET with different temperatures ranging from 27$^{\circ}C$ to 300$^{\circ}C$ . It is expected that the thermionic and field emission at the MS contact will dominate the current flow. Thermal cycle is applied to test the reliability of the device. From the results, it is proved that thermal stress gradually increases the gate leakage current at the same bias conditions and leads to the breakdown and failure mechanism which is critical in the field equipment. Finally the gate contact under the repeated thermal shock has been tested to check the quality of Schottky barrier and the current will be expressed in the analytical from to associate with the electrical characteristics of the device.
Thin films and coating technologies are used for an enormous and diverse set of application including mechanical and automotive components. Many of these applications require the various properties which can be used for decreasing wear, friction and cost, and increasing the long life. The relationship between the load and the stress is usually nonlinear. The material is often apt to deform plastically under the low loads. Numerical method may be used for some simple problems of the coating. If the property of coating and base materials are inhomogeneous and the geometry is complex, the numerical method may be recommended. In this paper, the contact normal stress of the coating layer has been solved using finite element method.
Although there are existing Residual Current Protective Device (RCD) including detect electric leakage and elements such as short circuit and surge, the occurrence of incidents caused by electric faults, including fire, are still constant. The purpose of this study is to analyze the causes of accidents through the electric field distribution in the interpretation of the fault contact breaker. Simulation results by the arc fault has shown the convergence of temperature and electric field to the defect. Through their simulation results, the main cause of erosion phenomena in circuit breaker bar is the electric arc by concentration of electric field not due to dissolve by temperature.
Recent discussions in the active growth strategy based on getting a green environment, changes in the management of companies involved in environmental management is the analysis of various risk factors and the green growth at the same time the company's growth strategy is required. Thus, the corporate position on the green growth strategy based on risk management to analyze and respond to face reality, and respond to the scene of the applied methodology is required. In this study, contact the section of Environment to assess potential business risks that the EMEA Environment Mode Effects Analysis methodology through research and development company's in, contact the section of Environment to effectively analyze risk management by addressing the degree of risk assessment as a future-oriented and objective can manage is to provide technical management model.
O-rings in automotive engines are important components such as a coolant pipe, engine oil circulating lines and fuel injector for sealing that makes efficient performance of the engine. Life cycle of O-rings is effected in environments of the O-ring seal, like that applied pressure, working temperature, precompressed ratio and materials. It is related in extrusion, expansion and fatigue failure of O-rings. In this paper, an pressurized, compressed elastomeric O-ring inserted into a rectangular groove is analysed numerically using the nonlinear finite element method. The calculated FEM results showed that extrusion ratio and contact stress are strongly related to the gap clearance and edge radius of the groove.
