  • Recently, Goverment's Energy-saving policy in Korea as 'Green Growth' is very remarkable effort. By intensive poliicies, the private is encouraged to participate in policy. Especially, it is very important in the field of architecture and we have to work for construction of law system. However, these efforts of the government buildings for energy efficiency in use stage is as mandatory system that may occur in the construction phase and the enviromental impact of greenhouse gas reductions is not affected. For this reason, Assess the amount of the energy consumption and CO2 emissioont of Government Buildings in 2010 ordered by PPS(Public Procurement Service) in the construction phase and suggest to recognize the need for legal restrictions.

  • Purpose: This study was carried outto compare dietary self-efficacy, obesity stress, and obesity-related quality of life (OQOL) according to BMI and stages of change in vegetable consumption. Methods: A convenience sample of 326 nursing students agreed to complete a questionnaire. Data were collected from October 7 to October 18, 2013. Results: Obesity stress and obesity-related quality of life were significantly different according to BMI. Dietary self-efficacy showed a significant difference between the pre-contemplation/contemplation stage, preparation stage, and action/maintenance stage (F=50.18, p<.001). With obesity stress, there was a significant difference between the PC/C, P, and A/M stages (F=17.63, p<.001). Dietary self-efficacy had a positive correlation with OQOL (r=.11, p<.001) and a negative correlation with obesity stress (r=-.14, p=.012). And obesity stress had a negative correlation with OQOL (r=-.45, p<.001). Conclusion: These findings emphasize that nutritional-intervention programs for changes in behavior during the PC/C and P stages of change in vegetable consumption need to develop strategies to enhance dietary self-efficacy for nursing students.

  • In this study, we assessed environmental impacts of compound humidifiers using environmental life cycle assessment and presented the ways to improvements in energy consumption of them. We found eco-design parameters and $CO_2$-eq emissions in each stage of raw material acquisition, manufacturing, transportation, use and disuse in life cycle of the compound humidifiers. The highest $CO_2$ emission is found to be in the stage of use among all stages of life cycle, which is mainly due to power consumption in thermal heating of heating coil for sterilization during humidification. The power consumption and $CO_2$ emission in the stage of use can be reduced to 1/4 and 1/3 at the highest estimate through improvement of sterilization method, respectively. We suggested the replacement of conventional thermal heating coil by ultra violet light-emitting diodes (UV-LED) for sterilization and then presented the experimental results on the sterilization effects of UV-LEDs.

  • Globally, agriculture is one of the largest consumers and polluters of water resources, contributing to the unsustainable use of limited water resources. To reduce the resource use and environmental footprints associated with current and future food systems, researchers and policy makers have recommended the transition to sustainable and healthier diets and the reduction of food loss and waste along the food supply chain. However, there is limited information on the synergistic effects and trade-offs of adopting the two measures. In this study, we assessed the water-saving potential of the two measures in South Korea using environmentally extended input-output relying on the EXIOBASE database for the reference year 2020, along with scenario analysis to model the potential outcomes. Specifically, we analyzed scenarios where meat consumption was reduced by 30% and 50% and in combination with a 50% reduction in food waste at the consumption stage for each scenario. According to our findings, by considering individual measures of dietary change and food waste reduction, shifting to a diet with 30% and 50% less meat consumption could lead to reduction in water footprint by 6.9% and 7.5%, respectively, while 50% reduction in food waste at the consumption stage could save about 14% of water footprint. However, the synergistic effects of the two measures such as 30% less meat consumption and 50% food waste reduction, and 50% less meat consumption and 50% food waste reduction result to 20% and 24% reductions in water footprint, respectively. Moreover, our findings also showed that increasing food consumption with high environmental impacts could promote resources use inefficiency when waste occurs. Thus, policy strategies that address synergistic effects of both dietary change and food waste reduction should be strengthened to achieve sustainable food system. International and national policies can increase resource efficiency by utilizing all available reduction potentials while considering strategies interactions.

  • Inventories of finished products exist in each stage of the channel between production and consumption. An inventory has several functions, which make it possible to produce by economic lot size and to elevate services for consumer by shortening delivery time, etc$\cdots$. Finished products may be inventoried in delivery-center as well as at the plant where production takes place. So, finshed products must be dealt with as multistage inventory problem, because an inventory functions differently according to its place. The purpose of this study is to determine how much to carry in stock and what stage to carry Though there may be several channels between production and consumption, this study deals with only one main channel, that is, series of ncomponents and determines the optimal inventory policy by introducing the concept of selling probabilities.

  • To investigate the water balance in a paddy rice field with the pumping station for irrigation water supply, flow measurements and analysis on various components of water balance were carried out. The investigated area is 103.7 ha, and the irrigation water was supplied for 102 days during the total irrigation period starting from June 1. It was found that the consumption rate was increased as the growing stage was progressed. The variation of evapotranspiration rate was shown same tendency as the consumption rate, while no apparent tendency was found in infiltration rate upon different growing stages. And the ground water input to the area was predominant during the early stage of growing period, while ground water output from the study area was predominant at the end of the growing stage. The range of return flow rate, the ratio of total outflow to total inflow in every decad, was 57.6 to 85.7%. These values are slightly higher than reported values from the other investigation projects.

  • This paper presents A/D converter for the signal processing of infrared sensor and CMOS image sensor. The A/D converter designed in a 0.25um CMOS process provides a resolution of 10bits at a sampling rate of 50MS/s while dissipating 67mW at 2.5V supply voltage. This A/D converter is based on a pipeline architecture in which the number of bits converted per stage and the stage number are optimized to achieve the desired linearity and reduce power consumption as well. Simulation results show that the A/D converter using 1.5bit per stage MDAC with switched capacitors and dynamic comparators efficiently reduces the power consumption.

  • The most important design factor for portable devices is power consumption. In this paper, in the early design stage of a mobile device which measures temperature and humidity a power consumption model will be proposed and then the overall power consumption will be estimated based on this model. We will verify previously the correctness of such estimated power consumption before implementation of the real device. That is our proposed design methodology based on power consumption model. An improved design method for efficiently reducing the current consumption in the idle mode is also presented. By implementing a real prototype of the mobile device for measuring temperature and humidity, the correctness of our proposed design methodology based on power consumption modeling will be verified.

  • A 40-MS/sec 10-bit pipelined analog to digital converter (ADC) with a 1.2 Vpp differential input signal is proposed. The implemented pipelined ADC consists of eight stages of 1.5 bit/stage, one stage of 2 bit/stage, a digital error correction block, band-gap reference circuit & reference driver, and clock generator. The 1.5 bit/stage consists of a sub-ADC, digital to analog (DAC), and gain stage, and the 2.0 bit/stage consists of only a 2-bit sub-ADC. A bootstrapped switch with a constant resistance is proposed to improve the linearity of the input switch. It reduces the maximum VGS variation of the conventional bootstrapped switch by 67%. The proposed bootstrapped switch is used in the first 1.5 bit/stage instead of a sample-hold amplifier (SHA). This results in the reduction of the hardware and power consumption. It also increases the input bandwidth and dynamic performance. A reference voltage for the ADC is driven by using an on-chip reference driver without an external reference. A digital error correction with a redundancy is also used to compensate for analog noise such as an input offset voltage of a comparator and a gain error of a gain stage. The proposed pipelined ADC is implemented by using a 0.18-${\mu}m$ 1- poly 5-metal CMOS process with a 1.8 V supply. The total area including a power decoupling capacitor and the power consumption are 0.95 $mm^2$ and 51.5 mW, respectively. The signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) is 56.15 dB at the Nyquist frequency, resulting in an effective number of bits (ENOB) of 9.03 bits.
