  • Economic crisis in Korea since December 1997 had tremendously affected consumer behavior. This study examined consumer perception of the economic crisis and investigated its impacts on consumer ethnocentrism and purchase behaviors of foreign products. Two product categories of clothing and cosmetics were selected fro empirical testing. Data were obtained from a questionnaire survey to female consumers in Korea during September 1998, and 468 responses were analyzed. The consumer perception of the economic crisis(PCEP) scale was developed for the study. Correlation and regression analyses revealed: 1) the positive relationship between PCEP and consumer ethnocentrism(ETHN); 2) the positive effects of attitude toward foreign products(ATTI) on actual purchase of foreign products since the economic crisis(PB) and on purchase intention of foreign products(PI) for both clothing and cosmetics; 3) the negative effect of ETHN on PI for both product categories; and 4) the negative effects of PCEP on PB and PI for clothing.

  • The purposes of this study are to (1) explore the characteristics of consumers who purchase products designed by rising fashion designers, and (2) examine the effects of consumer fashion innovativeness and price consciousness on consumer responses toward the products (i.e., product innovativeness, perceived value, and purchase intention). A total of 469 adult consumers aged 19 to 59 responded to an online survey that consisted of a stimulus (i.e., news article introducing new brands of rising fashion designers) and measurement items. As a result, 20% of respondents are found to be customers of rising fashion designers. These buyers (vs. non-buyers) are characterized as female, high income, and high interest toward rising fashion designer products. The findings from structural equation modeling show that fashion innovativeness and price sensitivity have significant, positive effects on product innovativeness and perceived value that further increase purchase intention. These relationships are significant in terms of perceived value dimensions, except for the relationship between social value and purchase intention. Both fashion innovativeness and price sensitivity have significant and positive effects on social, emotional, economical, and functional values. The emotional, economical, and functional values also have significant, positive effects on purchase intention. The implications of these findings are discussed in the conclusion.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the construal level and temporal distance of a message and consumer's Social Network Service (SNS) self-efficacy on consumers' attitudes toward SNS fashion advertising. This study employed a 2 (message configuration: high construal level/low construal level) ${\times}$ 2 (temporal distance: distant future/near future) ${\times}$ 2 (SNS self-efficacy: high/low) between-subject factorial design. The survey was conducted on Facebook users in their twenties (N=216). The results are as follows: First, attitude toward SNS fashion advertising and purchase intention was higher when the message construal level was lower and when the temporal distance was closer. Second, no interactions between temporal distance and message construal level for attitude toward SNS advertising and purchase intention were found in this study. However, interactions between temporal distance and SNS self-efficacy for attitude toward SNS advertising and purchase intention were found. When the SNS self-efficacy was high, message with the low construal level reacted significantly positive in terms of attitude toward the ad as well as purchase intention. It is expected that this study will provide insight for apparel makers or retailers to use SNS as a new advertising media for fashion marketing. Practical implications and limitations are discussed.

All the paths except 'affective commitment ${\rightarrow}$ repurchase intention' were accepted for the high fashion involvement/high internet familiarity group. Comparing the low fashion involvement/low internet familiarity group with the low fashion involvement/high internet familiarity group, contents-people interactivity had more influence on the relationship with internet shopping mall in high internet familiarity group while people-people interactivity had more influence on the relationship with internet shopping mall in low internet familiarity group. • Self-service technologies (SST) are rapidly changing the way customers participate in the purchasing process. Academic literature has focused on the acceptance of SSTs. However, this study explored consumer's cognitive response and purchase intentions through service qualities of SST as well as how they are moderated by technology anxiety and other people's presence based on TAM3. An online survey collected 279 consumer panels. All responses were used for the analysis and analyzed statistically through SPSS 23.0. The results indicate that only enjoyment and control had a significant effect on warmth perception; however, all service qualities had significant effects on competence perception. The perceived warmth and perceived competence partially mediated the relationship between SST service qualities and purchase intention. The moderating effect of technical anxiety was shown to be significant in the relationship between perceived competence and purchase intention. In addition, technology anxiety had a moderating effect on the relationship between competence perception and purchase intention only in a public situation.

  • This research empirically analyzed whether the foods which came from a non-Muslim majority country, such as South Korea, could play an important role in affecting the consumer intention in a predominantly Muslim country. Online survey methods were used to investigate the proposed hypothesis. 318 responses were used for further analysis. Forty-six reflective constructs were adapted from literature and designed by using a five-point Likert scale to facilitate measurement. Estimation models and structural models were examined through SEM-PLS analysis techniques using SmartPLS 3.0 application as the data processing tool. The results showed that religiosity and halal awareness had a positive and significant effect on attitude toward halal labels, including the mediating effect from consumer attitudes towards halal labels which had a positive but insignificant effect on purchase intention. Halal awareness plays an important role for Muslims in the decision-making process for purchasing food. In contrast to the initial hypothesis, the country of origin actually did not have a positive effect on attitudes towards the halal label. In a Muslim-majority country like Indonesia, findings halal food is not difficult, so this research basically is a reminder to marketers to follow those halal principles in implementing their marketing strategies.

  • Purpose: The study examines the effect of TechTubers' unboxing videos on consumer buying behavior by highlighting the role of product touch, visual and verbal sensory cues. The study integrates the vicarious touch and the dual coding theory to analyze the Smartphone purchase behavior of Generation Z. Research design, data and methodology: The study collected data from 349 respondents who were viewers of YouTube unboxing videos. A structured questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale was employed as a survey instrument. Convenience sampling technique was utilized to select the samples. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). Results: Results reveal that vicarious touch and verbal description have a statistically significant positive effect on Generation Z's purchase intention of Smartphone. Moreover, purchase intention positively affects Generation Z's actual purchase behavior of Smartphone. However, the visual images did not significantly affect purchase intention. Conclusions: The study offers significant theoretical and practical implications. The study adds new knowledge to the extant literary field by highlighting the impact of digital product presentation in the form of Unboxing videos on purchase intention for technology products. Moreover, the study suggests content sponsorship and advertising opportunities for marketers in collaboration with the TechTubers on YouTube unboxing video platform.
