  • Recently, the study to reduce and recycle industrial waste is underway vigorously in the various fields of industry according to the conservation of environment and resources. In construction work, the disposal problem of its waste and environmental disruption have already been serious all over the world. However the recycle of waste concrete is still at an early stage, recycled aggregate from waste concrete have only used those as subsidiary road fillers. The research institute and the company make the study that it is about the properties of recycled aggregate and those structural capacity since 1990. Through the experimentation last year, we know that strength and fluidity of recycle cement are inferior to normal cement, and admixing aggregate powder deteriorates its strength. The purpose of this study is to search for appropriate heating time and to improve performance of the recycle cement while heating hardened cement which is crushed, we investigate separating aggregate from hardened cement by preheating and improvement of strength and fluidity inrecycle cement which contains admixture.

  • This study evaluated the recycling potential of in-site waste soil as pile back filling material (PBFM). We performed experiments to check workability, segregation resistance, bond strength, direct shear stress test, and dynamic load test using in-site waste soil in coastal areas. We found that PBFM showed better performance than general cement paste in terms of workability, segregation resistance, and bond strength. On the other hand, the structural performance of PBFM was slightly lower than that of general cement paste due to the skin friction force of pile by Pile Driving Analyzer and direct shear stress. However, because this type of performance degradation in terms of structure can be improved through the use of piles with larger diameter or by changing the type of pile, considering the economics and environment, we considered that recycling of PBFM has sufficient value.

  • The oyster shells of about 240,000 tons have been annually produced in south coast of South Korea. However, about 25% of the oyster shells (60,000tons) was recycled as oyster seeding and fertilizer due to the limited amount of consumption for such purposes. The stored amount of oyster shell in the fertilizer manufacturing company is overfilled, and thus cannot accept any more of the waste oyster shells. As a result, landfill and illegal dumping of waste oyster shells have become an increasingly serious issue since 2011. In this research, the problems generated by the oyster shells were investigated through surveying activities. One of the possible alternative solutions that can process large amount of waste economically was found to be the application of oyster shells as a construction materials.

  • Existing retaining walls are usually made from only one cast form and any damage must be promptly repaired. However, when a part of a retaining wall is repaired, a gap can be created between the repaired and existing parts, along with an unpleasing visual effect. As such, the whole structure is often reconstructed, rather than repairing one part, resulting in construction waste and possible contamination of the environment. Accordingly, the current study proposes a construction method for a retaining wall that uses separate blocks to downsize of quantity of construction waste. In addition, by changing the color or modifying the block cover a more environmentally friendly retaining wall construction method is achieved.

  • This study is as a part of the new disposal and recycling plans of heat-resource waste of Daegu dyeing industrial center we tried to examine applicable possibility of crushed thing(waste aggregate) as aggregates for mortar and concrete. To examine applicable possibility of waste aggregate as a lightweight-aggregate for concrete and mortar, we carried this study by mainly property examination of concrete according to replacement ratio of waste aggregate. We carried slump, unit weight, compressive strength and bending strength test according to replacement ratio of waste aggregate. As the result of that, if we use waste aggregate, lightweight of concrete and mortar will be possible. Specially it shows a strength improvement effect of cement hardening according to using this so it is judged that applicable possibility as aggregate for concrete and mortar is very excellent.

  • Recently, many environmental problems occur due to the waste shells in South Korea. In case of oyster and cockle, utilizing waste shells to produce fertilizer once also, but due to sluggish consumption, production is no longer difficult. The stored amount of waste shells in the fertilizer manufacturing company is overfilled, and thus cannot accept any more of the waste shells. As a result, landfill and dumping of waste shells have become an increasingly environmental problems. In this research, the basic physical properties and interfacial bonding form of the mortar mixed with waste shells (manila clam, cockle, clam, sea mussel, oyster) were evaluated.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate properties of high fluidity concrete adding waste marble powder. A change in the replacement ratios of waste marble powder was measured compressive strength and slump flow, O-Lot and U-Box. Waste marble powder has replaced binder of high fluidity concrete at certain contents of 0~20%. As a results, Slump flow, O-Lot and U-box adding waste marble powder up to 10% have increased by adding waste marble powder. As the concrete with a replacement ratio of waste marble powder up to 10% was found to have a compressive strength superior to that of plain.

  • Problem of the environmental pollution and pollution by vast quantity occurrence of industrial waste by progress of industry is risen recently. Is real condition that waste foundry sand to be industrial waste that happen in casting industry of them has much the occurrence amount and the processing method is depending on most simplicity reclamation and so on. Therefore, by using waste foundry sand in the world by fine aggregate for mortar in recycling side of industrial waste necessity of development for new principal parts aggregate is risen along with rise of aggregate price by exhaustion phenomenon of natrual resources, wish to analyze physical and mechanical properties special quality and foretell practical use possibility availability.

  • In this country, now redevelopment and rebuild is becoming largely because it is improving welfare and life condition with high growth of economy. Also, the scale of construction project is trend to increase to adjust the changing social situation. Accordingly, C&D waste is rising largely because of the increased demolition works in city. The right management of C&D waste is becoming one of very important things, but little research has been conducted to estimate correctly C&D waste. This study suggests standard units of C&D waste which can estimate demolition quantity of apartment. These units can estimate easily and correctly C&D waste in demolition works and also can make it possible to use very important material to carry out policy of national waste management.
