Correlation Between Exposure Rate and Quasi-Effective Energy of Natural Radiation in Japan -TLD Application-

  • The quasi-exposure rate and the quasi-effective energy of the natural radiation in the field at 47 monitoring points around nuclear power plants have been studied with the pair filter thermoluminescence dosimeter system. The results of the six years observation showed that the relationship between the quasi-exposure rate $X_q$, and quasi-effective energy $E_q$ can be represented as a hyperbolic function: $X_q=A+C/(E_q-B)$, where the constants A and B correspond to the quasi-exposure rate of cosmic-rays and the minimum quasi-effective energy of natural radiation, respectively. Furthermore, the constant A is in close agreement with the values obtained by using ionization chambers and scintillation detectors. The constant B is approximately 0.68 MeV, closely corresponding to the mean energy of the photons emitted from natural uranium.

  • Blind Equalization Method without training sequences is proposed for channel efficiency in mobile communication system for asynchronous multi-user DS-CDMA. the risk of mis-convergence of weak-power users is increased because of small regions of convergence in case of near-far effect in CMA(Constant Modulus Algorithm) which is the simplest has high performance and widely implemented. In despite the problem a equalization using Newton method has higher performance than a conventional method in squared error and eye-pattern.

Fabrication and Properties of SCT Thin Film by RF Sputtering Method (RF 스퍼터링법에 의한 SCT 박막의 제조 및 특성)

  • The (S $r_{0.85}$C $a_{0.15}$)Ti $O_3$(SCT) thin films were deposited on Pt-coated electrode(Pt/TiN/ $SiO_2$/Si) using RF sputtering method according to the deposition condition. The optimum conditions of RF power and Ar/ $O_2$ ratio were 140[W] and 80/20, respectively. Deposition rate of SCT thin films was about 18.75[$\AA$/min] at the optimum condition. The composition of SCT thin films deposited on Si substrate is close to stoichiometry (1.102 in A/B ratio). The capacitance characteristics had a stable value within $\pm$4[%]. The drastic decrease of dielectric constant and increase of dielectric loss in SCT thin films were observed above 200[kHz]. SCT thin films used in this study showed the phenomena of dielectric relaxation with the increase of frequency.ncy.

The composition of SCT thin films deposited on Si substrate is close to stoichiometry (1.081 in A/B ratio). The maximum dielectric constant of SCT thin film was obtained by annealing at $600[^{\circ}C]$.

  • The present experiments have been performed for obtaining the melting heat transfer characteristics of micro-encapsulated solid-liquid phase change material and water mixed slurry flow in a circular tube heated with constant wall heat flux. The phase change material having a low melting point was selected for a domestic cooling system in the present study. The governing parameters were found to be latent heat material concentration, heat flux, and the slurry velocity. The experimental results revealed that the increase of tube wall temperature of latent microcapsule slurry was lower than that of water caused by the heat absorption of fusion.

  • Small-scale motor-generator sets have been used in laboratories for verification of real large wind turbines whose rated power are more than 1 MW. In this paper, a result of designing a small-scale motor-generator system, which is composed of motor, gear box, flywheel, and generator, is presented in the aspect of speed response. Design objective is to make a small-scale motor-generator system have the same time constant and optimal tip speed ratio region as a real MW wind turbine. A small-scale 3.5 kW motor-generator system for emulating response of a 2 MW wind turbine is considered and designed.

  • Recently, there are a lot of papers in order to replace the electrolytic capacitor into the film capacitor in output of PFC(Power Factor Correction). However, the film capacitor, which has capacitance of low values, causes a large ripple voltage in output of PFC. The LED drivers are connected series in the output of PFC and affected by the magnitude of voltage ripple. In this paper, we have compared the fixed frequency method with the variable frequency for the constant-current control and propose the control method to avoid the sub-harmonic oscillation in the variable input voltage. An 80W PFC, using film capacitors instead of electrolytic capacitors, and LED driver has been built and compared the fixed frequency control method with the variable frequency control method.

  • The methods for adjusting the output voltage as well as the heater temperature of a single-phase inverter for the heat treatment are proposed. The output voltage of the single-phase inverter is limited to 60 V for safety. The time constant of heater temperature is much higher than that of the output voltage. The stability may be deteriorated due to such large time constant difference. In order to ensure the stability, a hysteresis on/off control method for the heater temperature control is used. The performances for the proposed methods are verified with the experiments.

  • This paper deals with the control strategy for the constant voltage, constant frequency (CVCF) generation of doubly -fed induction generator. Since induction machine is a nonlinear and multivariable one, the influential factors for CVCF generation of induction generator are the magnitude of output voltage, load current and its power factor, slip of the machine, etc. To get appropriate control scheme and study the effect of its parameters, the control equation of induction machine is derived and tested. The simulation and test results show that suggested equation and control system are very useful strategy for the CVCF control of induction generator.
