  • The measurement of cell constant in a diaphragm-cell method is the most important factor. In order to get the correct cell constant, the diffusion coefficients of potassium chloride were measured, at various concentration and temperature of potassium chloride solution, and at the stirring rate in the cell. The pseudo-binary diffusion coefficients of organic aroma component (benzaldehyde) in sugar solution has been measured at various concentration and temperature with the cell constant obtained above. Experimental results were compared and discussed with the semi-empirical epuations from literatures. And, especially, the diffusion coefficient of benzaldehyde, $D_{ba}$ for a small solute diffusing in a viscous solvent of larger molecules is proportional to the -0.82 power of the viscosity of aqueous sugar solution, ${\mu}$ at constant temperature, $D_{ba}{\mu}^{0.82}=constant$.

  • In PDP industry, the dielectrics and barrier ribs have been required with low dielectric constant, low melting point and Pb-free composition due to the low power consumption, low signal delay time and the environment restriction. We were studied with $B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$-SrO glass systems about optical, thermal and dielectric properties. The glass forming region of the $B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$-SrO glass systems was narrow due to the amount of the glass former $(B_2O_3)$. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of the glasses was at $550{\sim}590^{\circ}C$. The glasses have 6~8 for the dielectric constant. Furthermore, the transmittance of the glasses was over 80% on the range of the visible ray. From the results, the glasses of the $B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$-SrO glass systems should enable to be a good candidate of the PDP devices for information display with low dielectric constant. The aim of this study is to give a fundamental result of new glass system for low dielectric constant in the information display.

  • To investigate the effects of oyster mushroom on the quality of Sulgidduk and Gyeongdan, freeze-dried mushroom power and mushroom extract were prepared. Dough for Gyeongdan was held for 0~6 hours at room temperature before cooking in order to allow for enzyme reaction. Upon addition of 2~5% mushroom power or 1~2% mushroom extract, the hardness of Sulgidduk decreased while the storage periods could be extended 1~2 days. Avrami rate constant (k) was 0.0111 for 2% power-added rice cake and 0.044 for the control. In Gyeongdan, hardness also decreased by addition of mushroom. Avrami rate constant (k) was 0.0178 for 10% mushroom power-added Gyeongdan and 0.0652 for the control. In a sensory test, Sulgidduk with 1% mushroom powder showed the highest score. Overall, addition of 1% mushroom powder to rice was appropriate for Sulgidduk. For Gyeongdan, addition of 1~2% mushroom powder was appropriate.

  • The paper attempts to estimate the incubation time of a cavity in the interface between a power law creep particle and an elastic matrix subjected to a uniaxial stress. Since the power law creep particle is time dependent, the stresses in the interface relax. Through previous stress analysis related to the present physical model, the relaxation time is defined by ${\alpha}$2 which satisfies the equation $\Gamma$0 |1+${\alpha}$2k|m=1-${\alpha}$2 [19]. $\Gamma$0=2(1/√3)1+m($\sigma$$\infty$/2${\mu}$)m($\sigma$0/$\sigma$$\infty$tm) where $\sigma$$\infty$ is an applied stress, ${\mu}$ is a shear modulus of a matrix, $\sigma$$\infty$ is a material constant of a power law particle, $\sigma$=$\sigma$0 $\varepsilon$ and t elapsed time. the volume free energy associated with Helmholtz free energy includes strain energies associated with Helmholtz free energy includes strain energies caused by applied stress anddislocations piled up in interface (DPI). The energy due to DPI is found by modifying the results of Dundurs and Mura[20]. The volume free energies caused by both applied stress and DPI are a function of the cavity size(${\gamma}$) and elapsed time(t) and arise from stress relaxation in the interface. Critical radius ${\gamma}$ and incubation time t to maximize Helmholtz free energy is found in present analysis. Also, kinetics of cavity fourmation are investigated using the results obtained by Riede[16]. The incubation time is defied in the analysis as the time required to satisfy both the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions. Through the analysis it is found that [1] strain energy caused by the applied stress does not contribute significantly to the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions of a cavity formation, 2) in order to satisfy both thermodynamic and kinetic conditions, critical radius ${\gamma}$ decreases or holds constant with increase of time until the kinetic condition(eq.40) is satisfied. Therefore the cavity may not grow right after it is formed, as postulated by Harris[11], and Ishida and Mclean[12], 3) the effects of strain rate exponent (m), material constant $\sigma$0, volume fraction of the particle to matrix(f) and particle size on the incubation time are estimated using material constants of the copper as matrix.

  • Induction cooking application with multiple loads need high power inverters and appropriate control techniques. This paper proposes an inverter configuration with buck-boost converter for multiple load induction cooking application with independent control of each load. It uses one half-bridge for each load. For a given dc supply of $V_{DC}$, one more $V_{DC}$ is derived using buck-boost converter giving $2V_{DC}$ as the input to each half-bridge inverter. Series resonant loads are connected between the centre point of $2V_{DC}$ and each half-bridge. The output voltage across each load is like that of a full-bridge inverter. In the proposed configuration, half of the output power is supplied to each load directly from the source and remaining half of the output power is supplied to each load through buck-boost converter. With buck-boost converter, each half-bridge inverter output power is increased to a full-bridge inverter output power level. Each half-bridge is operated with constant and same switching frequency with asymmetrical duty cycle (ADC) control technique. By ADC, output power of each load is independently controlled. This configuration also offers reduced component count. The proposed inverter configuration is simulated and experimentally verified with two loads. Simulation and experimental results are in good agreement. This configuration can be extended to multiple loads.

  • A new phase-shifted parallel-input/series-output (PI SO) dual inductor-fed push-pull converter for high-power stepup applications is proposed. This converter is operated at a constant duty cycle and employs an auxiliary circuit to control the output voltage with a phase-shift between the two modules. It features a voltage conversion characteristic which is linear to changes in the control input, and high step-up ratio with a greatly reduced switch turn-off stress resulting in a significant increase in the converter efficiency. It also shows a low ripple content and low root-mean-square (RMS) current in the output capacitor. The operational principle is analyzed and a comparative analysis with the conventional pulse-width-modulated (PWM) PISO dual inductor-fed push-pull converter is presented. A 50kHz, 800W, 350Vdc prototype with an input of 20-32Vdc has also been constructed to validate the proposed converter. The proposed converter compares favorably with the conventional counterpart and is considered well suited to high-power step-up applications.

  • Parasitic parameters have a larger influence on Silicon Carbide (SiC) devices with an increase of the switching frequency. This limits full utilization of the performance advantages of the low switching losses in high frequency applications. By combining a theoretical analysis with a experimental parametric study, a mathematic model considering the parasitic inductance and parasitic capacitance is developed for the basic switching circuit of a SiC MOSFET. The main factors affecting the switching characteristics are explored. Moreover, a fast-switching double pulse test platform is built to measure the individual influences of each parasitic parameters on the switching characteristics. In addition, guidelines are revealed through experimental results. Due to the limits of the practical layout in the high-speed switching circuits of SiC devices, the matching relations are developed and an optimized layout design method for the parasitic inductance is proposed under a constant length of the switching loop. The design criteria are concluded based on the impact of the parasitic parameters. This provides guidelines for layout design considerations of SiC-based high-speed switching circuits.

  • Power spectral analysis of spontaneous heart rate fluctuations were assessed by use of autooic blocking agents and changes in posture. The total power spectral range of interest is divided amongst the various experiments so that each respiratory pattern contributes a spectral ratio of interval to respiration only over a group of frequencies for which the specific respiratory pattern has substantial, and roughly constant, spectral magnitudes. System hardware is consisted ECG preamplifier, respiratory fluctuation detect, interval time generator and IBC 486PC. High frequency fluctuation, at the respiratiory frequency, are decreased by standing and are mediated solely by the parasympathetic system. Power spectral analysis is a powerful nonivsve tool for quantitying autonomic nervous system activity.

  • In this paper, when applying current-mode circuit design technique showing constant power dissipation none the less operation frequency, to the low power design of dynamic voltage frequency scaling, we introduce the low power current-mode circuit design technique applying MOSFET in sub-threshold region, in order to solve the problem that has large power dissipation especially on the condition of low operating frequency. BSIM 3, was used as a MOSFET model in circuit simulation. From the simulation result, the power dissipation of the current memory circuit with sub-threshold MOSFET showed $18.98{\mu}W$, which means the consumption reduction effect of 98%, compared with $900{\mu}W$ in that with strong inversion. It is confirmed that the proposed circuit design technique will be available in DVFS using a current-mode circuit design.
