  • In Korea, micro-enterprises are in charge of an important part of the common people's economy, but face difficulties such as excessive competition, deteriorating profitability, and concentration of life-oriented industries. In order to solve this problem, the government is providing commercial district analysis services for micro-enterprises. However, the data provided by various organizations is not standardized, and there is a limit to the composition of the service with limited data. In this paper, we propose a method of solving the data consistency problem and linking and analyzing between questionnaire information and commercial district information to expand the data analysis service. The proposed linking methods are three methods: linking the commercial area information and questionnaire information in the same area based on the type of business and area, linking the survey information centered on individual micro-enterprise, and linking a small area of questionnaire information with a large area of commercial district information. The linked commercial district information and questionnaire information can be used in various ways or expanded analysis services. This proposed a method to overcome the limitations of existing commercial district analysis services with questionnaire information and lay the foundation for expanding the commercial district analysis services necessary for micro-enterprises.

  • Visualization techniques are transformed into reliable representations through socio-technological processes which include the agreement on the instrument and the embodiment of practices in relevant scientific communities. Visual representations thus produced are justified by realistic and epistemic virtues in science. This paper analyzes different visual images presented in the scientific papers of two research groups who argue different theories about the mechanism of face perception. These two scientific groups use the same fMRI technology; yet, different experimental paradigms and visual stimuli change their hypotheses into distinct testable theories, which in turn lead to different evidences to support their own theories. Visual evidences are intermediate representations which lie between fMRI brain images and scientific theories, and theoretical models obtain the scientific value based on the consistency in the chain of visual representations. This study shows that representations in science tend to be good representations within the context of scientific communities. It will provide a chance to think of the value and limit of the scientific knowledge

  • This paper presents sedimentation and consolidation characteristics of dredged soils mixed with sand materials through the self-weight consolidation tests adopting stepwise filling method. After completely throwing away dredged soils daily by flour kinds of S-C, which is the quantity of sand contained, results fi:om laboratory tests are compared with those from a new method using hyperbolic, which considers stage settling and consolidating characteristics, and those from the existing analyzing method. Liquid limit up to 65% had a large effect on consistency properties. Assuming that the settlement occurred only by clay content of dredged soils, it is shown that the clay void ratio is less than 2 and 4 respectively in case S-C is 0% and 50%. In the applied hyperbolic method, reinitialized curve has a linear behavior of a coefficient of correlation of almost 1, and the coefficient of slope and intercept except fur the specimen with the height of 10cm and 20cm had a tendency to fellow exponent function and a shape of zone settling and dispersing settling. The results computed by the applied hyperbolic method rather than the existing analyzing method coincide with those of laboratory tests. It is shown that the former is more suitable than the latter for the area considering the influence, of sand materials.

  • Objectives : The former study of Oriental Medicine on cancer has been mostly focused on lab studies with herbal medicine. Among this atmosphere, the aim of this study is to investigate the suitability of Oriental Medicine institutions to participate in cancer registry programme in R.O.K by investigating the type of treatments used for cancer patients in Oriental Medicine institutes. Methods : To investigate the actual conditions of cancer patients who visited Oriental Medicine institutes, a survey was done based on clinical charts of 258 patients of cancer. Results : The order for the percentage of the original tumor organ of the patients, the number of patients who recognized the outbreak on the year of the first visit was the biggest, and the number gradually decreased while the years passed. For the type of treatment, herbal medicine was the most for 92.6%, acupuncture 52.6%, moxibustion 16.7%, cupping 14.7%. It can be seen that multiple treatment was preferred to single treatment. Among the periods for herbal medication, 10 days was the most for 34.1%, 29.8% for within 50 days and 10.5% for within 100 days. The percentage of patients who took treatment of western medicine at the same time and those who took treatment of Oriental medicine only was 47.4% and 43.8% respectively. By surveying categories such as the symptoms, diagnosis of syndrome, principle of treatment from the chart by a free description, there was 841 names of symptoms, 207 diagnoses of syndromes and 206 principles of treatment. But no relation or connection between these could be found statistically. At there were even occasions which the doctor didn't record the cancer itself, precise investigatio for the actual condition of cancer patients in Oriental Medicine institutions appeared to be very difficult. Conclusions : It seems impossible to enroll cancer patients of Oriental Medicine institutions to the cancer registry programme in R.O.K as far as the patients are recorded only under the paradigm of Oriental Medicine. However, if the Oriental Medicine doctors keep a consistency in classifying categories such as cause of death, syndrome diagnosis, principle of treatment and prescriptions, and limit the choices, for each category, a pilot study for cancer registry programme in R.O.K. in Oriental Medicine could be carried out.

  • Despite repeated exhortation about the importance of social and human dimensions of systems development, socio-organizational issues continue to be neglected and ignored in the current information systems practice. A review of the human information processing literature suggests that the reasons for this continuing lack of attention to social issues may be found in the limitations of human cognition and information processing capacities. Bostrom and Heinen(1978) and Kumar and Bjorn-Anderson(1990) also suggest that the inadequate attention to social problems and issues by the analyst could originate from the analysts limited problem perception. This research explores how the representation forms of information systems(IS) methodology used in understanding and modeling the problem situation affect such systems development problem perception. Typically, a system development methodology prescribes the use of system models(i.e., system representations) to understand, analyze, evaluate, and design the information system. Given the size and complexity of information systems, and the abstraction and simplification underlying the modeling process, system representations usually depict only a limited set of aspects of the system. Thus, a methodology whose representations are limited to technical aspects will tend to limit the analyst's perspective to a technical one only(Kumar & Welke, 1990). Following the same line of argument, in contrast, it is the conjecture of this study that a methodology which specifies both social and technical aspects of IS development will help the analyst develop a more comprehensive view of the IS problem domain. Based on the above concept, a theoretical model was first developed which explained the systems analysts cognitive process. Drawing on this model, a research model was developed hypothesizing the impacts of representation forms on problem identification. The model was tested using a laboratory experiment with 70 individual subjects. A special computer software was developed with a hypermedia authoring tool to conduct the experiments in order to avoid experimenter biases and to maintain consistency in administrating repeated experiments. The program, designed to replace the experimenter, consisted of functions such as presenting the subjects with problem material, asking the subjects questions, and saving the typed answers of the subjects. The results indicate that representation forms strongly influence problem identification. It was found that the use of the socio-technical representation form led to the findings of more social problems than the use of technical representation form. The results imply significant effects of representation forms on problem findings and also suggest that the use of adequate representation forms may help overcome dysfunctional effects of our limited information processing capacity.

  • In addition to the current quality control procedures for the weather observation performed by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), this study proposes quality inspection standards for Internet of Things (IoT) urban weather observed data based on machine learning that can be used in smart cities of the future. To this end, in order to confirm whether the standards currently set based on ASOS (Automated Synoptic Observing System) and AWS (Automatic Weather System) are suitable for urban weather, usability was verified based on SKT AWS data installed in Seoul, and a machine learning-based quality control algorithm was finally proposed in consideration of the IoT's own data's features. As for the quality control algorithm, missing value test, value pattern test, sufficient data test, statistical range abnormality test, time value abnormality test, spatial value abnormality test were performed first. After that, physical limit test, stage test, climate range test, and internal consistency test, which are QC for suggested by the KMA, were performed. To verify the proposed algorithm, it was applied to the actual IoT urban weather observed data to the weather station located in Songdo, Incheon. Through this, it is possible to identify defects that IoT devices can have that could not be identified by the existing KMA's QC and a quality control algorithm for IoT weather observation devices to be installed in smart cities of future is proposed.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a reflective review of the earth and universe units from the revised elementary curriculum of 2007-2015 and suggest changes in the 2022 revised curriculum. For this purpose, we conducted an FGI with earth science educators and elementary school teachers regarding the content elements and system, the achievement standards and inquiry activity composition, and the vertical and horizontal curriculum connectivity. Free response and weighted hierarchical analysis items were incorporated into the FGI to ensure logical consistency of the inductively derived improvement. This analysis revealed that the composition of units by grade group had been unevenly distributed among each of the "earth systems" until the 2015 revised curriculum was finalized. Furthermore, the basic concept was still insufficient. We suggest that achievement standards centered on the learning content and skills must state specific scientific core competencies, and inquiry activities should include rigorous critical thinking, student written responses, and student inquiry and analysis. In the hierarchical analysis items, FGI emphasized the inclusion of essential content elements rather than reduction of content elements, understanding-oriented concept learning rather than interest-centered phenomenon learning, basic concept division learning before integration between subjects, and expanding vertical-horizontal connectivity rather than repeating and advancing learning. There is a limit to the generalizing the suggestions proposed in this study to the common opinion of elementary earth science experts. However, since the main vision of the 2022 revised curriculum is to gather opinions through educational entities' participation in a variety of educational subjects, it is suggested that our results should be incorporated as one of the opinions proposed for the 2022 curriculum revision.

  • Mountain meteorology in South Korea that is covered mountains with complex terrain is important for understanding and managing the forest disaster and forest ecosystems. In particular, recent changes in dryness and/or rainfall intensity due to climate change may cause an increase in the possibility of forest disasters. Therefore, accurate monitoring of mountain meteorology is needed for efficient forest management. Korea Forest Service (KFS) is establishing the Automatic Mountain Meteorology Observation Stations (AMOS) in the mountain regions since 2012. 464 AMOSs are observing various meteorological variables such as air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, precipitation, soil temperature, and air pressure for every minute, which is conducted the quality control (QC) to retain data reliability. QC process includes the physical limit test, step test, internal consistency test, persistence test, climate range test, and median filter test. All of AMOS observations are open to use, which can be found from the Korean Mountain Meteorology Information System (KoMIS, http://mtweather.nifos.go.kr/) of the National Institute of Forest Science and the Public Data Portal (https://public.go.kr/). AMOS observations with guaranteed quality can be used in various forest fields including the public safety, forest recreation, forest leisure activities, etc., and can contribute to the advancement of forest science and technology. In this paper, a series of processes are introduced to collect and use the AMOS dataset in the mountain region in South Korea.

  • GenesWell$^{TM}$ BCT is a 12-gene test suggesting the prognostic risk score (BCT Score) for distant metastasis within the first 10 years in early breast cancer patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative, and pN0~1 tumors. In this study, we validated the analytical performance of GenesWell$^{TM}$ BCT. Gene expression values were measured by a one-step, real-time qPCR, using RNA extracted from FFPE specimens of early breast cancer patients. Limit of Blank, Limit of Detection, and dynamic range for each of the 12 genes were assessed by serially diluted RNA pools. The analytical precision and specificity were evaluated by three different RNA samples representing low risk group, high risk group, and near-cutoff group in accordance with their BCT Scores. GenesWell$^{TM}$ BCT could detect gene expression of each of the 12 genes from less than $1ng/{\mu}L$ of RNA. Repeatability and reproducibility across multiple testing sites resulted in 100% and 98.3% consistencies of risk classification, respectively. Moreover, it was confirmed that the potential interference substances does not affect the risk classification of the test. The findings demonstrate that GenesWell$^{TM}$ BCT have high analytical performance with over 95% consistency for risk classification.
