This study analyzed the basic properties of soil material gathered around Maegok-dong in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do Province (hereafter, "Maegok soil") and the physicochemical changes in the Maegok soil resulting from the addition of other clay materials in order to present scientific information about the properties of clay available for pottery production. Gravel, coarse sand, and fine sand account for 73% of the total mass of the Maegok soil. Therefore, it required refinement through sifting in order to serve in pottery clay. After sifting, the amount of silt and clay in the soil increased to 95% of the total mass. However, since it lacked plasticity and viscosity, buncheong soil was added. When it was mixed with bungcheong soil at a ratio of 7:3, Maegok soil improved as pottery clay as its viscosity increased, demonstrating compositional properties appropriate for ceramic clay even after firing. Further, its water-absorption rate was decreased to 0.40. This means that soil gathered from anywhere can be used for pottery-making by refining its original properties and through mixture with clay with specific components which help the pottery maintain its shape even after firing.
Background: The leaves and roots of Panax ginseng are rich in ginsenosides. However, the chemical compositions of the leaves and roots of P. ginseng differ, resulting in different medicinal functions. In recent years, the aerial parts of members of the Panax genus have received great attention from natural product chemists as producers of bioactive ginsenosides. The aim of this study was the isolation and structural elucidation of novel, minor ginsenosides in the leaves of P. ginseng and evaluation of their antiinflammatory activity in vitro. Methods: Various chromatographic techniques were applied to obtain pure individual compounds, and their structures were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance and high-resolution mass spectrometry, as well as chemical methods. The antiinflammatory effect of the new compounds was evaluated on lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Results and conclusions: Two novel, minor triterpenoid saponins, ginsenoside $LS_1$ (1) and 5,6-didehydroginsenoside $Rg_3$ (2), were isolated from the leaves of P. ginseng. The isolated compounds 1 and 2 were assayed for their inhibitory effect on nitric oxide production in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells, and Compound 2 showed a significant inhibitory effect with $IC_{50}$ of $37.38{\mu}M$ compared with that of NG-monomethyl-L-arginine ($IC_{50}=90.76{\mu}M$). Moreover, Compound 2 significantly decreased secretion of cytokines such as prostaglandin $E_2$ and tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$. In addition, Compound 2 significantly suppressed protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2. These results suggested that Compound 2 could be used as a valuable candidate for medicinal use or functional food, and the mechanism is warranted for further exploration.
In this study, we investigated the applicability of a termiticide based on metofluthrin for termite control on traditional wooden buildings. To evaluate their mortality, termites were exposed to the agent, diluted to various concentrations, for seven days; it was found that it had a sufficient insecticidal effect although there was a difference depending on the degree of agent dilution. Next, the effect on Dancheong, used in traditional wooden structures, was measured based on the color change according to the number of agent treatments. The results showed that only the color difference value of two pigments (i.e., Bun and Juhong) was measured as 3.0 or higher. However, there this varied according to the dilution ratio. Thus, it was found that most pigments had little effect on the color of Dancheong. Finally, the termiticidal efficacy of the agent when applied to wood was evaluated. We found that the specimens coated with 10-fold and 20-fold dilutions exhibited 2.83 and 6.28% mass loss, respectively. The 10-fold dilution satisfied the performance of termiticide as a mass loss of less than 3%. In conclusion, the metofluthrin-based agent used in this study has little effect on various Dancheong pigments and has a termiticidal effect against termites; it is therefore suggested that it may be used in preserving traditional wooden cultural properties in Korea.
This study was conducted on four 11th grade students at a high school in a small town to determine the effectiveness of responsive teaching. The three phases of the responsive teaching method proposed in the previous study were subdivided into six stages; Step 1 is elicitation of students' thoughts related to macroscopic world, Step 2 is drawing of students' early thoughts related to microscopic world, Step 3 is disciplinary connections with ideas of the particle, Step 4 is to clarify the learner's thoughts on the particle by the teacher's involvement, Step 5 is deepening students' thoughts, and Step 6 is expanding ideas. In Step 4, students came to the recognition that the cause of mass was atoms and that the cause of volume was molecules. In Step 5, students led to a shift in thinking that could ignore the volume of the molecules themselves through the properties of protons and neutrons that affect mass from a particle perspective. In the Step 6 of expanding ideas, students explained molecular motion by the concept of material point which ignores the volume of particles. This steps gave students perspectives on the relationship between the mass and volume of particles required by Avogadro's law. The students recognized that some systems could be studied only indirectly because they were too small, too large, too fast, or too slow to observe directly.
In order to clarify the lime-based building method used in the Joseon Dynasty, lime materials, production techniques, and mixing methods recorded in ancient literature were examined. In ancient Joseon Dynasty literature, the use of low grade limestone as a raw material was recorded, and the use of pozzolanic materials such as Hwangtoh, white clay, and roof tile powder as mixing aids to enhance the strength of lime was recorded. In addition, various lime hydration and mixing methods were recorded, and based on re-experiments carried out with regards to this, a physical property evaluation was deemed to be required in accordance with the various types of raw lime materials, lime hydration methods, and mixture ratios. In the early Joseon Dynasty, lime was used for various aspects, but frequent problems were experienced due to lack of supply and poor production techniques. In the late Joseon Dynasty, lime production techniques developed along with mass production. Based on analysis of the manufacturing techniques of Hoegwagmyo lime mortar in the 16th and 18th centuries during the Joseon Dynasty, it was found that mixing ratios and the methods described in the ancient literature had been applied. It was confirmed that the mixing ratio differed depending on mixing materials and lime quality. Since the mixing ratio of Hoegwagmyo lime mortar changed over time and it was produced strictly on the basis of a guidebook, it is believed that if continuous scientific analysis of the Hoegwagmyo lime mortar production method were carried out, this would be helpful for ascertaining the chronological methodology of Hoegwagmyo.

Debris flows occur in mountainous areas due to heavy rains resulting from climate change and result in disasters in the downstream area. The purpose of this study is to estimate the impact force of a debris flow when a check dam according is installed in various locations in the channel of a highly mountainous area. A Finite Differential Element Method (FDM) model was used to simulate the erosion and deposition based on the equation for the mass conservation and momentum conservation while considering the continuity of the fluid. The peak impact force from the debris flow occurred at 0 to 5 sec and 15 to 20 sec. When the supplied water discharge was increased, greater peak impact force was generated at 16 to 19 sec. This means that when increasing the water supply, the velocity of the debris flow became faster, which results in increased energy of the consolidation between the particles of the water and the sediment made. If a number of check dams were to be set up, it would be necessary to investigate the impact force at each location of the check dam. The results of this study could provide useful information in predicting the impact force of the debris flow and in installing the check dams in appropriate locations.

The purpose of this study is to estimate the behavior and the mechanism of debris flow on the slope, which has specially various gradient plane. The numerical simulation was performed by using the Finite Differential Element method (FDM) based on the equation for the mass conservation and momentum conservation. The mechanism of flow type for debris flow is divided into three flow types which are stony debris flow, immature debris flow, and turbulent water flow, respectively. First, flow discharge, water flow depth, sediment volume concentration was investigated by variable input of flow discharge at the straight slope angle and two step inclined plane. As the input of flow discharge was decrease, flow discharge and water flow depth was increased, after the first coming debris flow only reached at the downstream. As the input of flow discharge was increased, the curve of flow discharge and flow depth was highly fluctuated. As the results of RMS ratio, the flow discharge and flow depth was lower two step slope angle than the straight slope angle. Second, the behavior of debris flow was investigated by the four cases of gradient degree at the downstream of slope angle. The band width of flow discharge and flow depth for $14^{\circ}$ between $16^{\circ}$ was higher than other gradient degree, and fluctuation curve was continuously high after 10 seconds.
Zygotic embryo culture was performed to propagate evergreen oak, Quercus myrsinifolia, which has recalcitrant seeds and is difficult to propagate by cuttings. Zygotic embryos appeared in WPM medium after 14 days, and after 56 days, they developed into complete plants with cotyledons and roots. The medium suitable for zygotic embryo culture was 1/4 WPM medium, showing a shoot growth of 2.43 cm and root growth of 8.7 cm after 8 weeks of culture. As a result of investigating the effect of GA3 on the growth of plants germinated from zygotic embryos through GA3 treatment, the best growth was shown in 0.5 mg/l GA3 treatment. The in vitro rooting and growth of IBA-treated zygotic embryo-derived plants were good in the 0.5 mg/l IBA treatment and rooting and shoot growth were not observed at higher concentrations. And the callus induction rate also increased as the concentration of IBA increased. Plants grown in vitro were transferred to a plastic pot containing artificial soil and acclimatized in a greenhouse for about 4 weeks, resulting in more than 90% survival. As a result of this study, the zygotic embryo culture method was confirmed to be effective for mass propagation of Q. myrsinifolia. The results of this study are expected to contribute significantly to the mass propagation of elite Q. myrsinifolia.
The nucleosomal organization of chromatin using histone proteins is a fundamental and ubiquitous feature of eukaryotic nuclei, with the major exception of dinoflagellates. Although a number of recent genomic and transcriptomic analyses have detected numerous histone genes in dinoflagellates, little is known about their expression. Here in, we aimed to investigate the expression pattern of histone genes under nutritional stress, and an attempt was made to detect histone expression at the protein level in Alexandrium pacificum. The presence of histones at the mRNA level was confirmed in this study by the amplification, cloning, and sequencing of 10 different genes. Relative expression profiling of these genes under different growth conditions was determined with real-time PCR and revealed considerable levels of histone transcription in nutritionally stressed cells. We were unable to detect the expression of histones at the protein level even after immunodetection and analysis using mass spectrometry, although a histone-like protein was detected as a major nuclear component. A. pacificum expresses multiple variants of histone, and protein sequences revealed both conservation and divergence with respect to other eukaryotes. We concluded that A. pacificum maintained an active transcription of histone genes within the cell, and enhanced expression of histone genes in nutritional stress strongly suggest that histones have functional significance in dinoflagellates, although expression at the protein level was below our current detection limits, which suggests a limited role of histones in DNA packaging. Finally, the plausible regulation of histone expression at the gene and protein levels in A. pacificum is discussed.

In this paper, the golf club head hit the golf ball moves at a constant velocity, then move in the same direction at a constant velocity of the golf club head, the velocity of the golf ball was hitting and flying the golf ball is calculated. The results of the experiment are represented in tables and figures. And we also propose the comparison analysis between our research and other traditional ones, the implications, and futhur studies in the future. The results of this study, unlike other studies, it was can be seen that measurements of several factors superior to the measurement of the velocity of the golf ball.
