  • This thesis investigates the behavior of precast wall systems with a new vertical connection which are proportioned by the displacement based design. The proposed precast wall systems are supposed to provide additional spaces and seismic strengthening in remodeling existing residential buildings. For a fast remodeling constructions using PC walls require an efficient, economic fabrication method. A C-type vertical connections for PC wall systems is proposed for transfer of bending moment between walls in the vertical direction while a shear key in the center of wall is prepared to transfer shear forces by bearing. The proposed vertical connection allows us easy fabrication because of different direction of slots at the edges of wall. The dimension of C-type connection components are determined by engineering models and a series of test.

  • Existing construction materials such as concrete and steel have chronic problems; deterioration and corrosion. Owing to its special features of light weight ‘ high durability, anti-corrosion, composite material used in civil infrastructure can not only solve fundamental problems of deterioration and corrosion, but also reduce both construction and maintenance cost significantly. After the fabrication of deck panel with snap-fit connection by pultrusion through composite design according to stacking sequence of composite laminates and structural analysis, performance of decks will be verified and evaluated by structural tests.

  • Green Frame is a Rahmen structure made of composite precast concrete members. According to the concrete design code, a lower rebar of precast concrete girder, should be extended to the inner precast concrete column. However, such extension of lower rebar may sharply reduce its constructability. To satisfy the criteria, the connection and anchorage of beam rebar should be taken into consideration, yet it is difficult to use lapping as it is not easy to ensure enough space when Green Frame method is adopted. To solve this, a new method of lower rebar connection and anchorage was developed, and this study is intended to review economic feasibility prior to applying the method developed onto sites. The study result can be used as basic data for selection of the optimal joint and anchorage method for lower rebar of the green frame construction.

  • This study is the compared seismic performance that are difference between the performance of structures on various site classes and beam-column connection. this analysis model was designed the previous earthquake load. To compare the performance levels of the structure was subjected to nonlinear static and nonlinear dynamic analysis. Nonlinear analysis was used to The Perform 3D program. Nonlinear static analysis was compared with the performance point and Nonlinear dynamic analysis was compared the drift ratio(%). Analysis results, the soft site class of the displacement was more increase than rock site classes of the displacement. Also The smaller the displacement was increased beam-column connection stiffness.

  • As the most popular shear connection in composite structures, mature concrete has been widely investigated by considering mechanical properties of stud connectors (SCs) embedded. To further enhance the fabrication efficiency of composite structures and solve the contradiction between construction progress and structural performance, it is required to analyze the shear performance of stud connections of composite structures with different concrete ages. 18 typical vertical push-out tests were carried out on stud shear connectors at concrete ages of 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days. Also, the effects of concrete age, stud spacing and stud diameter on the shear capacity, connection stiffness and failure mode of the connectors were studied. A new relationship expression of load-slip for SCs with various concrete ages was proposed. The existing design code for the SCs shear strength was evaluated according to the experimental data, and a more practical prediction equation for the shear capacity of SCs with different concrete ages was established. A great agreement was observed between the experimental and theoretical results, which can provide a reference for engineering practices.

  • Previous experimental studies have effectively demonstrated the remarkable efficiency of the stiffened channel link in connecting circular columns and I-shaped beams. This research aims to present design criteria and assess the seismic properties of this specific connection type through numerical modeling. Various parameters, including stiffener type and geometric properties of the stiffened channel element, were duly taken into account. The findings from over 136 nonlinear finite element analyses (FEAs) reveal that the recommended detailing scheme reliably satisfies all the regulations specified for rigid beam-to-column connections in special moment frames.

  • Higher educational results might come from the rational method of curriculum operation. Therefore, every subject in the major course should be planned to response the specialty of students and the efficient method of education are still more needed in technical college, in which students have to get the specialty on the short period of education. Because each subject in the major course works as the close cause and result of educational goal to form the specialty of students, the achievement of educational results in each subject is an important studying part of the educators in technical college. This study is a case of the approaching method for the improvement of learning effect by the connection of subjects 'Space Design' and 'Computer Aided Design' in the Dept. of Industrial design. It is considered to achieve two subjects' educational goals by leading up the students' learning concentration from the comprehension and experience about the co-relationship of the two subjects. And it shows the results of this approaching method such as students could get the design technology of the two subjects, and they could have self-confidence to the managing of the design process and planning of the design works as well.

  • A railway bridge with a double composite section is proposed to enhance the structural performance of existing two-girder bridges because the governing design parameter of railway bridges is the flexural stiffness. The concrete deck in negative moment regions is neglected in the design of continuous composite bridges assuming the concrete slab has no resistance to tension. Therefore, the flexural stiffness of the composite section in the negative moment region is reduced resulting in the increase of the depth of the steel section. In order to resolve this disadvantage, several methods are suggested and the double composite section is one of the excellent solutions for extending the span length and increasing the flexural stiffness. In this study, push-out tests on lying studs and mixed stud shear connection with lying and vertical studs were performed to investigate the behavior of the shear connection in the double composite section. Static strength of the shear connection was evaluated through the test results and numerical analyses.

  • The goal of this paper is to understand the stress-transfer mechanism of concrete-filled tubular column to H-beam connections with external T-stiffener through the finite element method and to offer basic data for the design of T-stiffener. To identify the problems of previous test results, the same shapes of the full-scale test specimens were modeled for the finite element analysis. Results of the analysis were compared with the test results. Several stress and strain indices were used to understand the stress-transfer mechanism of connection with various T-stiffeners parameters. The models of analysis with different T-stiffener are grouped into TS, TSD, and TSH series. An alternative plan that decreases the stress concentration of beam flange to horizontal stiffener connection is proposed through the elasto-plastic finite element method. The basic design idea and minimum sizes of T-stiffener were proposed based on the various indices in relation to the connection details.
