The Tunnel Lane Positioning System of a Autonomous Vehicle in the LED Lighting (LED 조명을 이용한 자율주행차용 터널 차로측위 시스템)

  • Recently, autonomous vehicles have been studied actively. There are various technologies such as ITS, Connected Car, V2X and ADAS in order to realize such autonomous driving. Among these technologies, it is particularly important to recognize where the vehicle is on the road in order to change the lane and drive to the destination. Generally, it is done through GPS and camera image processing. However, there are limitations on the reliability of the positioning due to shaded areas such as tunnels in the case of GPS, and there are limitations in recognition and positioning according to the state of the road lane and the surrounding environment when performing the camera image processing. In this paper, we propose that LED lights should be installed for autonomous vehicles in tunnels which are shaded area of the GPS. In this paper, we show that it is possible to measure the position of the current lane of the autonomous vehicle by analyzing the color temperature after constructing the tunnel LED lighting simulation environment which illuminates light of different color temperature by lane. Based on the above, this paper proposes a lane positioning technique using tunnel LED lights.

Determinants of Safety and Satisfaction with In-Vehicle Voice Interaction : With a Focus of Agent Persona and UX Components (자동차 음성인식 인터랙션의 안전감과 만족도 인식 영향 요인 : 에이전트 퍼소나와 사용자 경험 속성을 중심으로)

  • Services for navigation and entertainment through AI-based voice user interface devices are becoming popular in the connected car system. Given the classification of VUI agent developers as IT companies and automakers, this study explores attributes of agent persona and user experience that impact the driver's perceived safety and satisfaction. Participants of a car simulator experiment performed entertainment and navigation tasks, and evaluated the perceived safety and satisfaction. Results of regression analysis showed that credibility of the agent developer, warmth and attractiveness of agent persona, and efficiency and care of the UX dimension showed significant impact on the perceived safety. The determinants of perceived satisfaction were unity of auto-agent makers and gender as predisposing factors, distance in the agent persona, and convenience, efficiency, ease of use, and care in the UX dimension. The contributions of this study lie in the discovery of the factors required for developing conversational VUI into the autonomous driving environment.

WAVE System Performance for Platooning Vehicle Service Requirements Under Highway Environments (고속도로 환경에서 군집주행 서비스 요구사항에 대한 WAVE 통신시스템 성능 분석)

  • This paper analyzes the performance limit of WAVE system for the platooning service requirements which is referred from the de facto standards. The performance of the packet error rate and mean delay as key parameters in the wireless communication systems should be satisfied to provide safety to the platooning vehicles. The test scenarios are conducted by considering the following vehicle groups: platooning vehicles, vehicles within a hop distance and vehicles within two hop distance( called hidden node vehicles). The models of packet error rate and delay deals with the topology of aforementioned vehicle groups, vehicle speed and communication range. The numerical results are obtained in terms of packet size, packet arrival rate and data transmission rate. Finally, this paper suggests the robust range of packet error rate and delay for the WAVE system to provide the platooning vehicle service.

  • This study examines the strategies employed by GM, who experienced bankruptcy in 2008. Specifically, we explore the autonomous driving-related technologies and execution, which GM began developing later than other car manufacturing companies. This study found that GM implemented aggressive M&A in search of vertical industrial integration for the development and production of autonomous vehicles. GM selected candidate firms to complement its technological gaps for the development and implementation of the autonomous vehicle. Secondly, GM achieved executive capacity by attempting to build a vertical integration in the wider scope of components, solution, service, and sales. Thirdly, the consistent governmental support and policies, such as the connected car project, M-City, and NCHRP Program expedited the development process. This study provides practical and policy implications for Korean companies and policymakers related to the automotive industry.

  • Currently in the automobile market, models with many convenient functions combined with IT have been released. This change has a strength that there could be many convenient and useful functions related to driving while flaws of vehicles caused by malfunctions of these electronic equipments could trigger serious incidents. Among them, the sudden unintended acceleration considered as the most serious is a serious flaw that could threaten driver's life. However, the causes for sudden acceleration incidents have not been clearly investigated with no coping measures. As manufacturers shift the responsibility to drivers' carelessness, drivers' burden is continuously increasing. Thus, this paper designed the system to cope with sudden acceleration incidents by changing conditions of controlling parts like accelerator and brake, and internal image of the driver's seat into data through the integrated module.

Development of medical bed system equipped with body pressure sensors (체압센서를 장착한 의료용 침대 시스템의 개발)

  • The medical bed developed in this study consists of N keys and each is driven vertically by an actuator. Since M sensors are mounted on each keyboard to measure body pressure, the resolution of the body pressure map is determined by the MN. A sensor controller is mounted on each keyboard, and the body pressure values measured from M sensors are transmitted to the main controller through a serial communication network such as CAN (Car Area Network). Each keyboard is equipped with a servo driver that drives a motor, and it is connected to the main controller via CAN to control the height of the keyboard according to the displacement value indicated by the main controller. In addition, the maximum body pressure value and body pressure ratio applied to each part of the keyboard are calculated and used as the basic data for controlling bed comfort by artificial intelligence. As a result, the proposed system can be a foundation that can be used for the control of body comfort and pressure sore prevention by artificial intelligence to be developed in the future.

  • As the number of objects connected to the Internet increases rapidly, intelligent device development projects are gradually expanding that provide direct value to humans, away from simple monitoring functions, including sensors and communication functions, or delivery to servers.It is expected that the device will develop a technology that analyzes surrounding sensing information and changes the surrounding environment in consideration of users' preferences or safety. By establishing a biosignal measurement system in a developed product that can bring various effects using air, it will be possible to grasp the user's condition through a pattern of change in pressure distribution when seated. This paper proposes a construction system that enhances the comfort of using an air car seat through contact between a temperature measurement sensor and a user, and enables effective management of measured biosignals by linking them with an air pump control system.

  • Post release mechanism is generally used to reduce the severity of the occupant of an errant vehicle impacting a roadside posts. The 820kg-50km/h head-on impact simulations were made using LS-DYNA program for the posts of 101.6mm Dia(t=4.0mm) with and without clip-type release mechanism. The simulation result was compared with impact test result to enhance the credibility of simulation model. The study shows that the high impact severity (THIV, PHD) and excessive deformation threatens the safety of the occupant when a car impacts a rigidly connected posts, while a post with clip-type slip base reduce the impact severity to a safe level.

  • In this paper, we developed a vehicle control terminal using IoT and low-power long-distance communication (NB-IoT) technology. This system collects information on the location and status of a parked vehicle, and transmits the vehicle status to the vehicle owner's terminal in real time with low power to prevent vehicle theft, and in the case of a vehicle in motion, When primary information about the vehicle, such as an impact, is collected and transmitted to the server, the server analyzes the relevant data to generate secondary information on traffic congestion, road damage, and safety accidents. By sending it, you can know the exact arrival time of the vehicle at its destination. This terminal device is an IoT gateway for a vehicle and can be connected to various wired and wireless sensors inside the vehicle. In addition, the data collected from vehicle maintenance, efficient operation, and vehicles can be usefully used in the private or public sector.

  • This paper is to develop WiMAX CPE(wireless AP) that can provides Wi-Fi terminal with wireless Internet service by connecting to Wibro wireless network. This AP aims to support WiBro in upstream interface basically, and Wi-Fi and 100M Ethernet interface in downstream. So, we has developed the equipment for business that wireless ISP can provide many Internet customers with wireless Internet service by using Wi-Fi terminal in subway, car, ship, and so on, and the equipment for users that a user can purchase and then install in person. For the latter, multiple Wi-Fi terminals that be registered in WiBro service can be connected to Internet simultaneously.
