Purpose: This study was performed to investigate mandibular canal displacement in patients with ameloblastoma using a 3-dimensional mirrored-model analysis. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of computed tomographic scans of patients with ameloblastoma (n=10) and healthy controls (n=20). The amount of mandibular canal asymmetry was recorded as a continuous variable, while the buccolingual (yaw) and supero-inferior (pitch) directions of displacement were classified as categorical variables. The t-test for independent samples and the Fisher exact test were used to compare groups in terms of differences between sides and the presence of asymmetric inclinations, respectively (P<0.05). Results: The length of the mandibular canal was similar on both sides in both groups. The ameloblastoma group presented more lateral (2.40±4.16 mm) and inferior (-1.97±1.92 mm) positions of the mental foramen, and a more buccal (1.09±2.75 mm) position of the middle canal point on the lesion side. Displacement of the mandibular canal tended to be found in the anterior region in patients with ameloblastoma, occurring toward the buccal and inferior directions in 60% and 70% of ameloblastoma patients, respectively. Conclusion: Mandibular canal displacement due to ameloblastoma could be detected by this superimposed mirrored method, and displacement was more prevalent toward the inferior and buccal directions. This displacement affected the mental foramen position, but did not lead to a change in the length of the mandibular canal. The control group presented no mandibular canal displacement.

Additional dentition images are needed because the dentitions are distorted in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) due to streak artifacts and non-uniformity of the x-ray beam. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of improving the dentition image of CBCT scan with intraoral scanner instead of plaster models. Maxilla images from plaster models, two intraoral scanners, and CBCT of 20 patients aged 12 to 18 were used in this study. With one of the intraoral scanners, the full arch was scanned by three segments and combined into a complete full arch. Virtual skull-dentition hybrid images from intraoral scanners were superimposed with the images from plaster models to evaluate the coordinate value difference and distance at reference points. The results showed that the coordinate value difference and distance were smallest with segmented intraoral scan, which showed only 2 ㎛ distance. Intraoral scan may provide good dentition images for virtual skull-dentition images.

This paper proposes a system that performs object detection and distance estimation for application to autonomous vehicles. Object detection is performed by a network that adjusts the split grid to the input image ratio using the characteristics of the recently actively used deep learning model YOLOv4, and is trained to a custom dataset. The distance to the detected object is estimated using a bounding box and homography. As a result of the experiment, the proposed method improved in overall detection performance and processing speed close to real-time. Compared to the existing YOLOv4, the total mAP of the proposed method increased by 4.03%. The accuracy of object recognition such as pedestrians, vehicles, construction sites, and PE drums, which frequently occur when driving to the city center, has been improved. The processing speed is approximately 55 FPS. The average of the distance estimation error was 5.25m in the X coordinate and 0.97m in the Y coordinate.

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to compare the root positions in virtual tooth setups using only crowns in a simulated treatment with those achieved in the actual treatment. Methods: Pre- and post-treatment intraoral and corresponding cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans were obtained from 15 patients who underwent orthodontic treatment with premolar extraction. A conventional virtual tooth setup was used for the treatment simulation. Pre- and post-treatment three-dimensional digital tooth models were fabricated by integrating the patients' intraoral and CBCT scans. The simulated root positions in the virtual setup were obtained by merging the crown in the virtual setup and root in the pre-treatment tooth model. The root positions of the simulated and actual post-treatment tooth models were compared. Results: Differences in root positions between the simulated and actual models were > 1 mm in all teeth, and statistically significant differences were observed (p < 0.05), except for the maxillary lateral incisors. The differences in the inter-root angulation were > 1° in all teeth, and statistically significant differences were observed in the maxillary and mandibular canines. Conclusions: The virtual tooth setup using only crown data showed errors over the clinical limits. The clinical application of a virtual setup using crowns and roots is necessary for accurate and precise treatment simulation, particularly in extraction treatment.

Background The three-dimensional (3D) evaluation of skeletal stability after orthognathic surgery is a time-consuming and complex procedure. The complexity increases further when evaluating the surgery-first orthognathic approach (SFOA). Herein, we propose and validate a simple time-saving method of 3D analysis using a single software, demonstrating high accuracy and repeatability. Methods This retrospective cohort study included 12 patients with skeletal class 3 malocclusion who underwent bimaxillary surgery without any presurgical orthodontics. Computed tomography (CT)/cone-beam CT images of each patient were obtained at three different time points (preoperation [T0], immediately postoperation [T1], and 1 year after surgery [T2]) and reconstructed into 3D images. After automatic surface-based alignment of the three models based on the anterior cranial base, five easily located anatomical landmarks were defined to each model. A set of angular and linear measurements were automatically calculated and used to define the amount of movement (T1-T0) and the amount of relapse (T2-T1). To evaluate the reproducibility, two independent observers processed all the cases, One of them repeated the steps after 2 weeks to assess intraobserver variability. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) were calculated at a 95% confidence interval. Time required for evaluating each case was recorded. Results Both the intra- and interobserver variability showed high ICC values (more than 0.95) with low measurement variations (mean linear variations: 0.18 mm; mean angular variations: 0.25 degree). Time needed for the evaluation process ranged from 3 to 5 minutes. Conclusion This approach is time-saving, semiautomatic, and easy to learn and can be used to effectively evaluate stability after SFOA.
Numerical analysis for the in-situ top base foundation (In-situ TBF) was carried out in order to investigate the effect of bearing capacity and the load delivering mechanisms in granular soil. The input data for the numerical model was prepared from the result obtained from the plate load test and full size in-situ TBF field tests. According to the result of numerical analysis, the behavior of in-situ TBF showed that bearing capacity of the foundation increased by $50{\sim}100%$ and settlement was reduced up to $1/2{\sim}1/3$ comparing to other types foundation. The effect of cone-shaped part of the in-situ TBF was as important as pile part for the improvement of foundation stability. The variation of the length of pile part indicated that the present length was proved satisfactory in terms of effectiveness.
In this study, free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) porous truncated conical shell panels reinforced by graphene platelets (GPLs) has been investigated for the first time. Additionally, the effect of three different types of porosity distribution and five different types of GPLs patterns on dynamic response of the shell are also studied. Halpin-Tsai micromechanical model and Voigt's rule are used to determine Young modulus, shear modulus and Poisson's ratio with mass densities of the shell, respectively. The main novelties of present study are: applying 3D elasticity theory and the finite element method in conjunction with Rayleigh-Ritz method to give more accurate results unlike other simplified shell theories, and also presenting a general 3D solution in cylindrical coordinate system that can be used for analyses of different structures such as circular, annular and annular sector plates, cylindrical shells and panels, and conical shells and panels. A convergence study is performed to justify the correctness of the obtained solution and numerical results. The impact of porosity and GPLs patterns, the volume of voids, the weight fraction of graphene nanofillers, semi vertex and span angles of the cone, and various boundary conditions on natural frequencies of the functionally graded panel have been comprehensively studied and discussed. The results show that the most important parameter on dynamic response of FG porous truncated conical panel is the weight fraction of nanofiller and adding 1% weight fraction of nanofiller could increase 57% approximately the amounts of natural frequencies of the shell. Moreover, the porosity distribution has great effect on the value of natural frequency of structure rather than the porosity coefficient.
To find out the appropriate defensive measures for protectors and radiation workers in rotating radiation generating devices such as CBCT and panorama, irradiation dose depending on the position was compared and analyzed. The devices such as panorama DP-90-P PAX-500 (Vatech, Korea) and CBCT DCT-90-P IMPLAGRAPHY Dental CT system (Vatech, Korea) were used. As irradiation dose measuring instruments, Ion chamber model 2026 and Reader 20X5-60E were used. The exposure conditions were set as the factor used in the clinical trial. The result of the experiment showed that panorama was the highest, 81${\mu}R$, at point A where the test starts first and the lowest, 53${\mu}R$, at point D where the test ends. In case of CBCT, it was the highest, 1,021${\mu}R$, at point D where the test ends and was measured as the highest, 809.67${\mu}R$, at point A where the test starts. If protectors and radiation workers are forced to examine a patient holding him, they should be positioned in the middle of the point where X ray tube starts to rotate and the point where it ends to avoid the position where radiation dose is the most. And due to the nature of equipment, it will be the safest for them to stand at the opposite side of the machine and to uphold it from the rear rather than upholding it from the side of a patient and they should wear appropriate the protection gear.
The roof structural model of liquid manure storage tank was designed to improve a structural safety and an ability of resistance to corrosion by the bad environmental condition with high humidity and high gas concentration. Due to corrosion of a general steel, the 5 years used materials were reduced to one-third of a new material in the result of a bending strength test. Some structural materials were tested to evaluate a strength and an anti-corrosion, and stainless steel pipe (STS439), steel angle with zinc hot dipping, rectangular steel pipe covered with FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) resin were selected finally. A stainless steel is more expansive about $3{\sim}5$ times than general structural steel. But its durability under heavy corrosive environment is expected twice as long as general steel. The roof models were designed as closed cone type for each of the three structural materials. In the result of a FEM (Finite Element Method) structural analysis for the developed models, the safe snow depth was higher 2.3 times than a general roof structure, when elements of equal section modulus were used.

Objectives : The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the effects of Woohwangcheongsim-won (WC) on the in vitro neuronal development and alteration in gene expression in a hypoxia model using cultured rat cortical cells. Methods : E/sub 18/ rat cortical cells were grown in a neurobasal medium containing B27 supplement and various concentration of WC. Initial development of growth cone was investigated by phase-contrast microscopy, while dendritic spine formation and synaptogenesis were investigated by immunocytochemistry with SynGAPα(a postsynaptic marker) and synaptophysin (presynaptic marker) antibodies. Alteration in gene expression was analyses by microarray using rat 5K-TwinChips. Results : WC suppressed the development of growth cones and WC increased the number of dendritic spines at 20 and 50㎍/mL concentration but there was no statistical significance. Instead, it significantly decreased the number at 100㎍/mL. The expression of anti-apoptosis gene Bcl2-like 1 (Bcl211) increased (Global M=0.46), while Akt1 decreased. Proapoptosis genes Bad and PDCD2 increased. The expression of hemoglobin alpha 1 (probably neuroglobin) increased (Global M=0.93). The expression of antioxidants such as catalase, heme oxygenase (HO), and PRKAG2 gene increased. The expression PKC gene increased. The expression of retinoic acid receptor alpha (RARα) increased significantly (Global M=1.0). Conclusions : These data suggest that WC trends to suppress cellular activity slightly in normoxia and increases the expression of apoptosis-, antioxidation-, oxygen capture-related genes in hypoxia, but increases Bcl111 that anti-apoptosis gene, on the other hand increases Bad, PDCD2 that pro-apoptosis genes, too..
