  • Nowadays, SELENE-2 is under development for the moon explorer rover in Japan. AXS(Active X-ray Spectrometer) sensor development among the candidated payloads will be on going by the world-wide co-operation. The thermal design, analysis and test will be specially performed by Korean institutes. CFD techniques are used for the conceptual design and analysis. Thin-shell plate meshes being applied by Monte-Carlo Ray Tracing Method are generated for the thermal radiation analysis. Lumped capacity model is employed for the thermal conduction simulation of the AXS payload itself. Various shapes of the payload configuration with thermal boundary conditions are proposed and selected on the purpose of the analysis of the initial design. The results of the analysis are supposed to be used as the baseline for the further detailed design of the AXS payload in the future.

  • An inverse heat conduction problem(IHCP) arises when unknown heat fluxes and whole temperature field are to be found with temperature measurements of a few points. In this paper, observers are proposed as solution algorithm for the IHCP. A 1-dimensional heat transfer problem is modeled with modal analysis and state space equations. Position of the heat source is estimated through test heat inputs and the autocorrelation among a few of temperature data. The modified Bass-Gura method is used to design a state observer to estimate the intensity of heat source and the whole temperature field of a 1-dimensional body. To verify the reliability of this estimator, analytic solutions obtained from the proposed method are compared.

  • In this study, we simulated the atrial arrhythmia numerically. By using electro-physiological model of atrial cell from Nygren et al. and applying reaction-diffusion partial differential equation, we simulated electrical conduction in atrium. A 3-D mesh system representing the human atrium was reconstructed from the surface geometry of atrium. We used a stimulus in the form of an archetype around pulmonary vessels in the left atrium to cause the atrial arrhythmia. The septal atrial tarchycardia was developed after the stimulus.

  • Thin films of indium oxide and indium tin oxide have been prepared by d.c. magnetron sputtering onto the fused silica substrates kept at 90, 200 and $300^{\circ}C$. In order to elucidate the optical absorption process in low energy region below 3 eV, we have analyzed the absorption coefficients obtained from reflectance and transmittance measurements for these films based on the Lucovsky model. It has been found for the first time that a defect center in the band gap is located at 0.8~1.4 eV below the Fermi level in all films and arises from oxygen vacancies in their films. The optical absorption in low energy region is explained to be dominated by the transition of electrons trapped at the positively charged (+2e) oxygen vacancies with s-like nature to the conduction band formed from the 5s-orbit in indium atoms.

  • This study presents a methodology to predict the hardenability of quenched carbon steels. The equation of transient heat conduction is analyzed to formulate a cooling curve by a finite element method which incorperates coupled effects of temperature on physical properties, the metallic structures and also the latent heat by phase transformation. The volume traction of martensite and pearlite are the structural analysis for hardenability analysis. In order to demonstrate the feasibility of adopting a full quench model respectively. This procedure could be used as the database for optimal condition of heat treatment processes.

  • In this paper, the deformation method for inner and outer races of rollr-bearing bymeans of the warm precision forging is investigated. We adapted the process designsuch as following that, toincrease Die life, reduce heat transfer through conduction and the eccentricity of preform in warm forging of bearing gace, the bottom portion of billet is formed during upsetting process. Then it is backward extruded, and thus obtained ring preform is formed by combined extrusion. Also, we compared it with the froming method in China and Japan, and we have known it is more excellent method. Basides, this forming method is simulated by UBST which is based on the merits of UBET nd FEM. The results show that it is easy to know the exact location of neutral surface through the inspection of streamline during combined extrusion, and the velocity vector distribution along the surface of velocity discontinuity is investigationed. Also the effectiveness of this method is proved by te experiment using model material that is Plasticine.

  • NIRS(Near infrared spectroscopy) scanning from 1300nm to 2400nm was appl ied for the DEHP(di-(2 ethylhexyl)phthalate) in PVC(polyvinyl chloride_packing material. All samples were devided into calibration group and validation group. As a result of conduction the multiple regression analysis on the correlation between the NIR spectrum data and chemical assay value obtained by the Korea Food Sanitation Act. The validation model for measuring the DEHP content had R of 0.997, SEC of 0.132, SEP of 0.176 by MLR and R of 0.996, SEC of 0.142, SEP of 0.198 by PLS and the detection limit was 0.1%. The obtained results indicate that the NIR procedure can potentially be used as a nondestructive analysis method for the purpose of rapid and simple measurement of DEHP in PVC packing material.

  • A numerical study is performed to predict the thermal response of a detailed card assembly during infrared reflow soldering. The card assembly is exposed to discontinuous infrared panel heater temperature distributions and high radiative/convective heating and cooling rates at the inlet and exit of the oven. The convective, radiative and conduction heat transfer within the reflow oven as well as within the card assembly are simulated and the predictions illustrate the detailed thermal responses. The predictions show that mixed convection plays an important role with relatively high frequency effects attributed to buoyancy forces, however the thermal response of the card assembly is dominated by radiation. The predictions of the detailed card assembly thermal response can be used to select the oven operating conditions to ensure proper solder melting and minimization of thermally induced card assembly tresses and warpage.

  • For the efficient utilization of the solar thermal energy to overcome the time gap between to supply and demand, an efficient heat storage technique, especially high density-latent-heat storage system, is necessary. In this study, the performance of a panel type latent heat storage equipment during heat discharging process was analyzed theoretically and experimentally. In order to find out the performance of the system, computer simulation programs were developed by finite difference method. The governing equations were constructed by two dimensional heat conduction model with moving boundary. The results of the experimental and the theoretical analysis were reasonably well agreed. The efficiencies of the double pipe type and the panel type latent heat storage equipment were compared.
